Divorce and its impact on the child
ŠTĚPÁNOVÁ, Lucie
The number of divorces in our society is growing constantly. Children who have had to experience their parents divorce generally feel that situation as extremely frustrating. They loose the safety of the harbor of home, the security of contact with the parents to whom they could always turn in the hour of need. They are usually afraid of what the future might bring, they are uncertain as of having a place they would belong; they possess worries to start their own families with their own partners, to be good parents to their offspring. The primary target of this paper was to realize the current issues of divorce, problems that most of all affect the mentality of the child whose parents are either going, or have gone through the act of matrimony termination. The research was concluded in the form of questionnaire and secondary data analysis. The secondary data analysis research shows that the children who were involved in divorce during the period of the research have demonstrated negative impact on their mentality. The questionnaire method, which was responded by students whose parents had been divorced for a longer period of time, shows certain facts that affect the child{\crq}s situation after the divorce. Primarily, those facts include the parent with whom the child is left to live, as well as whether and how the child is in contact with the other parent. Further problems were the children{\crq}s relationships with their fostering parent{\crq}s new partner and the new economical situation. It is my opinion that it would be most appropriate to create contact groups all over the country, groups where the affected children could have an opportunity to socialize with peers who had experienced a similar situation in their respective families. On the other hand, I do recommend analyzing the divorce from a parent{\crq}s perspective. The thesis can be used as a source of information for parents facing a divorce. The information contained herein might be useful for welfare officers, guardians, and other persons who represent the child and who are often unaware of the mental condition of the child, or of the situations that affect them. Nonetheless, the paper might be used as course material.

Vozár, Mário
The rapid growth of internet usage over the last two decades has been influencing many aspects of our life and most noticeably the ways in which people communicate with each other. Therefore, it is appropriate to ask whether the growth of internet usage influences individuals’ marital decisions in modern society. In my study, I concentrate on the effect of the growing internet usage on the gender and age-specific marriage hazard rate for the first time marriages in Europe. The panel data analysis reveals a negative impact of internet usage on male’s as well as female’s marriage hazard rate for those in their twenties.
Analysis of the effect of chosen variables on divorce rate
Růžičková, Zuzana ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Rod, Aleš (referee)
The theory of divorce assumes that certain factors are partly responsible for an increase in divorce rate, with most of the literature focusing on the effect of an increase in women's earnings. The goal of my thesis is to estimate the effect of women's earnings as well other variables on the divorce rate in the Czech Republic, using the data from 1995-2008. As other variables the following were chosen: men's earnings, presence of children in marriage, employment of women in managerial positions and in agriculture, and higher education of women. First the effect of each variables on divorce rate by using the method of ordinary least squares is estimated, then the effect of chosen variables by using the method of successive elimination of variables with the highest p-value is analyzed. Positive effect of women's earnings and negative effect of higher education on divorce rate was proved.
The development and interactions between selected demographic indicators in the Czech Republic
Hejnová, Barbora ; Löster, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vltavská, Kristýna (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis focuses on investigating the development of indicators, marriage and divorce in the Czech Republic from the period 1979 - 2009. The crude marriage rates and divorce rates are monitored for the selected countries of the European Union. The first part of the thesis describes the demographic indicators and the statistical methods for analyzing marriage and divorce. The main part of the thesis examines the evolution of these indicators in the Czech Republic from the point of view of time, but also monitors the development in relation to other demographic and social phenomena. These phenomena are age, sex, education, marital status etc. During the reporting period, the number of marriages decreased significantly. It has an indirect impact on declining birth rate and fertility in the Czech Republic. Reducing the marriage rate can be attributed to changes in society. The greater emphasis is posed on promoting individual and individualism. Although the marriage rate has dropped, the divorce rate in the period is slightly increasing.. There were not major changes in the development of divorce during the reporting period.
