The impact of speculators on the commodity markets
El-Moussawi, Chadi ; Musílek, Petr (advisor) ; Derner, Tomáš (referee)
In the recent years, there has been growing talk of investing in commodities in the financial markets. In the past, the commodity markets served for purposes of the producers and the end-users of commodities. With gradual innovation of the financial markets in the 19th and 20th century the modern commodity markets evolved and became more standardized. This process was accompanied by the increasing interest of financial speculators. In contrast with the commercial participants, the goal of these new investors in the commodity markets is not to hedge against adverse changes in commodity prices but to profit on the price movements of commodities. The inflow of this group was intensified by the development of new financial instruments enabling these investors to enter the commodity markets. It is undisputable that speculators have positive effect on the markets, by providing liquidity and lowering transaction costs. What remains to be answered is the real effect which the speculators have on the commodity prices, and if their action does not create distortion in the commodity prices. The price development on the commodity markets during the recent financial crisis gives strong arguments in the hands of those accusing the speculators of the negative impact on the commodity prices, which sometimes lead to creation of price bubbles. The goal of this thesis will be the analysis of the effect of speculators on the commodity markets, and if this prejudice is justified.

University of South Bohemia students' knowledge of the first aid theory
MALANÍKOVÁ, Jana
This work is separated into two main parts, the theoretical part and the research. In the first part the reader is familiar with teoretic knowledge of the first aid. I thought it is absolutely necessary to mention here the definition of the first aid , basic first aid theory consisted of the laic aid and the technical one. This work also correctly describes the latest techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation at adults . The second chapter is a small reminder of a history of the Red Cross. This chapter contains information about the beginnings of the Red Cross, as was the case with the founding of the Red Cross in the Czech Republic, dats about the International Movement of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and basic information about the possibillities of the first aid training. The fourth chapter is devoted to the basic principles of treatment for some life -threatening conditions such as: shock, unconsciousness, fractures, bleeding and how to call EMS. To learn about the accessibility and the clarity of the information of the first aid at the same time, I tried to borrow from the various information sources. According to the information, I decided to include above- mentioned theory in the theoretical part of the work. The second part relates the research , which has been established for one primary objective : to find out knowledge of the theory of the first aid. The research was conducted at selected colleges JCU, questionnaires were completed by 159 students. I chose respondents from these faculties intended to find the information just at these students because they represent a particular age group but also the various sectors of human activities. I further modified the sample random with the same proportion of students from the various faculties in the number of 100 respondents. There was chosen a quantitative method for this research. The necessary dats were collected by using an anonymous questionnaires. A structured questionnaire (see Appendix 1) contained a total of 22 questions focused on the theoretical knowledge of the first aid of JCU student. I processed the dats to confirm or refute the hypotheses in advance. Evaluation of dats was carried out using statistical random selectio , contingency tables and the results were set out neatly into the graphs. The results were processed in the Microsoft Office Excel 2010 programme. The statistical evaluation of the research has shown that the average knowledge of all faculties are balanced.

Food availability in developing countries - new challenge for local producers or new export space for the EU exporters?
Vlach, Jiří ; Kabát, Ladislav (advisor) ; Klára, Klára (referee)
Food security is influenced by many factors, which are divided into four categories according to FAO. Food Availability is one of these categories. It is closely connected with domestic food production as well as with international trade with food and with free movement of commodities on the international market. Countries in south Africa joined together and established South African Development Community (SADC) in 1992, which significantly changed their trade policies and their economics opened to international trade. The aim of this thesis was to evaluate, how these new conditions in international politics and trade affected the situation of food security and food availability in SADC countries. The research was based on common statistical analysis of secondary data developed by transnational organizations engaged in food security and international trade (FAOSTAT, WTO, World Bank). Results showed that the index of imported food to domestic food production has been growing in the last 10 years and it reached 51% in 2011. The food exports value and domestic production value are increasing as well and the average food import tariffs are decreasing. Also I proved some dependency of food imports to average dietary energy adequacy as well as dependency of domestic food production to average dietary energy adequacy. However with the use of comparative advantage method (RSCA) it was shown that SADC countries lost their comparative advantage in trade with food. The correlation of index of selected food security indicators to regional political stability was not proved.

Zemanová, Hana ; Kubín, Petr (advisor) ; Pátková, Hana (referee)
Double monasteries in Premonstratension Order. This work on the double monasteries in Premonstratensian Order describes the chronological development of these monasteries, from their inception until 12th century, and not just in the East but also in the West. Double monasteries arose spontaneously especially in the early church. Their formation and gradual disappearance influenced not only religious but also social and political situation in the wider area. The most famous double monasteries were created in the Premonstratensian Order during the 12th century and quickly spread from France to neighboring countries, because the Holy Norbert was a supporter of such grouping. But later had to be given the coexistence of both sexes an order or some rules. It was therefore decided to separate the double monasteries not only in a distance but also legally. During the schism, only the abbots of the order from south parts (south of the Rhine) attended the General Chapters that were held in Prémontré and it was difficult to enforce the separation of communities and therefore the double monasteries in the territory of present-day Germany, survived longer than in France. This illustrated the foundation of a double monastery called Weissenau in 1145 and consecutive movement of nurses to a nearby Meisenthal in...
