Partial Strategies of an Enterprise - ICT Strategy

The focus of this study is the Strategic analysis and the proposal of the partial ICT Strategy of the Trade and Distribution Company K&V Electro s.c. dealing with the sale of electro technical material. The first part is the strategic analysis theory divided to external analysis exploring macro and micro business space and the internal analysis assessing the internal company environment and basic factors of the company style of work resulting with strengths and weakness features of the business. The author decided to use the SWOT analysis method to describe and assess the strategic analysis and describes this method`s theory too. The particular presentation of the mentioned company followed together with the internal analysis. The practical part of the study deals with analysis, tests and assessment particular factors which characterised the company, resulted with the SWOT matrix and the development of the conclusions and the strategy choice determination. The last chapter contents the final assessment.

Using of biometric methods in IS applications

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of selected companies on the Czech biometric market. Performed analysis is focused on biometrics products and offered services in this area. The obtained information is compared with the selected criteria. The final evaluation is done for three groups of costumers, each of the groups have different importance of each criterion. Importance is allocated to each criterion by using paired comparisons. This method is also used to evaluate companies according to various criteria. Sequence of companies for each group of costumers is determined by using weighted sum, where the result of company is sum of results in criterion multiplied by relevant value of weight. The analysis of companies can be taken as supportive documentation for the final selection of vendor of biometrics system. Analysis gives a comprehensive overview of companies, their products and services. It also provides a clear comparison and evaluation of each company result.

Innovation of information systems in enterprises, particularly in the utility market segment

This thesis addresses the innovation of information systems in enterprises, particularly in the utility market segment. The thesis starts with a definition of utilities, a market segment containing companies involved in generation, transmission, distribution and retail of energy services as well as other companies providing related networked services. The aims of this thesis are both theoretical and practical. The theoretical part offers a new theory for IS innovations for the selected segment and for the relation between the innovation and the architectures of IS. In the practical part, the author identifies current challenges and opportunities in the selected market segment and offers scenarios and visions for future development. The first part of the thesis maps out the general innovation theories in the context of the selected topic. The second part introduces a new innovation theory based on an analysis of the specific conditions in the utility market segment. The next section focuses on the topic of IS architecture and its ability for tracking and managing the changes of the IS during the innovation process. The following part relays designs for specific architecture models supporting the current innovation trends in the utility market. The final part of the thesis summarizes particular business recommendations for innovation procedures in utilities, identifies innovation opportunities, and inspires visions for the future development of the market. The opportunities are related to a new way of understanding the role of IS in utility companies. IS provides a portfolio of information services to support the customer oriented business services, advanced services with added value and tailor made services for specific customer groups.

Optimal choice for enterprise information system

In these days Information Technologies play a significant role in the business life. Their choice often predetermines the whole business. That is why the right choice of business IS is very important and it is necessary to pay attention to it. This thesis summarizes the main criteria which would be useful for a firm to have in mind during the making choice of IS. There are proposed to use principles of process management and software modelling to define evaluation criteria and characteristics of the IS and to apply WSA method for their evaluation to find the best option subsequently.

Economical aspects of the information system design

Main goal of this document is to make reader aware of economical aspects of the information system design with regards to various types of organizations. It focuses on different approaches of organizations to the information system depending on expected function of IT within their business objectives. IS SAP and IS Helios SW products were used in order to present benchmark of economical figures of different information systems.

BUSINESS RULE ENGINES (Systémy řízené pravidly)

Cílem práce je ozřejmit čtenáři problematiku tzv. BUSINESS RULES ENGINES (BRE) neboli Systémů řízených pravidly a pokusit se odpovědět na otázku, proč tento nový způsob přístupu k tvorbě informačních systémů (IS) může efektivněji poskytnout řešení určitých palčivých problémů spojených s IS. Dalším záměrem je představit tzv. UNIVERZÁLNÍHO INFORMAČNÍHO ROBOTA (UIR). Jedná se o systém, který je založen na přístupu BRE a ještě zahrnuje některé unikátní vlastní přístupy. Produkt je vyvíjen českou společností eTrium. Text je systematicky rozdělen na tři části. V první části práce jsou popsány některé současné problémy týkající se IS. Je zde vymezeno, které problémy je možné těmito novými technologiemi řešit a které ne. Druhá část práce představuje Business Ruless Engines. Poslední část je věnována UIR a jeho využití.
