Burnout Syndrome
Nováková, Ivana ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Daniel, Daniel (referee)
The first part of the thesis presents the theoretical definition of the term burnout syndrome. The most threatened people by the burnout are those who have been engaged in some activity for a long time, especially, those who works in the so-called helping professions i.e. health professionals, health visitors taking care of the elderly and chronically ill, social workers, teachers, psychologists and others. Another part deals with the history, symptoms, the course and also prevention and treatment options of the burnout syndrome. The theoretical part also clarifies stress as a trigger of the burnout. The knowledge gained and summarized in the theoretical part was used during the processing of the empirical part. The empirical part is based on the method of a quantitative research. Originally, it was intended to conduct a qualitative research among social workers and medical staff working at Homecare Domažlice. The homecare institution in Domažlice involve only 33 workers. The Aftercare Centre Motol with its 30 employees was added to the experiment to get higher amount of respondents and to compare the incidence of the burnout syndrome between professionals working at hospital and those who work outside of it. The discussion and conclusion summarize the facts and results and suggest a possible solution.

Tumor proliferation of mammary gland in bitches
Musilová, Lucie ; Rajmon, Radko (advisor) ; Dita, Dita (referee)
Thanks to breeders' and veterinary care, dogs' age is increasing, which results in proportional increase in diseases, including cancer. Mammary gland cancer is the most common oncologic problem in bitches. Development of neoplasms is affected by endogenous factors (for example hormones), and exogenous factors also (radiation, carcinogenic substances, etc.). These factors cause mutations, which affects the formation of cancer growth. We divide tumours on true and false ones. False tumours are e.g. cysts. True tumours are either benign or malignant, which create daughter centres called metastasis. Malignant tumours bear worse prognosis than benign tumours. Metastasis and tumours affect inidividual's organism by e.g. negative effect on organ function. Individual can stimulate tumours by e.g. hormone secretion. Tumour classification is important because of determining the right treatment and prognosis for the future. Classification is divided in three parts: typing, grading, staging. Typing divides tumours into groups by their effect on tissues, or by individual tumours. Grading divides tumour by level of their differentiation. Staging classifies tumours by TNM, where T defines tumour's size, N defines level of lymphatics invasion and M defines metastasis formation. Mamary gland function is divided in three physiological phases: mammary gland development, lactation and galactopoesis. Mammary gland is probably modified sweat gland. Lactation is affected by hormone prolactin, which supports mammary gland development. Galactopoesis is state, which maintains lactation. It's important to prevent stress in this phase, because stress hormones block oxytocin, so milk ejection isn't coming about. Effect of hormones also change by estrous cycle phase. In bitch, there are those phases: proestrus, estrus, diestrus and anestrus. Estrous cycle deffects can occur and those deffects can cause so called false pregnancy. This state can result in diseases like pyometra or mastitis. Etiopathogenesis of mammary tumours is affected by two kind of factors, endogenous and exogenous. Prevention is also important, this includes more quality care and feed. Another important prevention can be adequate exercise and potential sterilisation of the female. If the animal is already ill, then there is important to discuss it with veterinarian and start treatment as soon as possible. Firt method of treatment is surgical, which is divided by mammary gland invasion. Other method is chemotherapy, which is becoming more and more frequent as support treatment method after surgery. Third method is called radiological. It's relatively new type of therapy, but it is, unfortunately, still relatively expensive. Last method is called hormonal. Again, it is used usually as support treatment after surgical removal of the tumour. There are used many diagnostic methods for clinical evaluation of mammary gland tumours, e.g. cytology, USG, RTG. Prognosis determination and post-surgical care is also important. Main complication is disease recurrence, which is more frequently occuring in malignant tumours than in benign tumours. Most important is prevention and treatment start as soon as possible after diagnosis assesment. It is appropriate to not to burden breeding bitch with frequent litters, or let veterinarian perform ovariohysterectomy (OHE) on bitch, which is not used for breeding. Ovariohysterectomy reduces probability of development of this disease. It is very important for breeder to regularly check mammary gland by palpation and immediately visit veterinarian with every change or lump.

Human behaviour in crisis situations
Kubáčková, Petra ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Daniel, Daniel (referee)
The thesis, entitled "Human behaviour in crisis situations", is focused on the issue of floods as a specific emergency situation. The theoretical part analyses the emergency situation itself, its initiators and development. Subsequently, it describes crisis interventions and fundamental strategies, which help to successfully overcome the crisis. Furthermore, the first part deals with stress, its impact on our health, stress responses and possible strategies how to control it. Consequently, it describes forms of social support, which are important for people affected by the emergency situation. The partial conclusion aims to theoretically summarize the issue of floods. The practical part is based on a quantitative research method, specifically questionnaire survey, which was targeted on people, who have experienced floods, and thus help to characterize their behavior. The second partial conclusion summarizes the questionnaire responses and the hypotheses will be either verified or falsified at the end.

Stress load in a specific job
Minaříčková, Kateřina ; Michálek, Pavel (advisor) ; Daniel, Daniel (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of the stress load in specific job and it is divided into two main parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is based on a compilation of professional literature and describes the origin of stress, types of stress, possible stressors, the individual stages of stress, response to stress, stress on a workplace and general consequences of stress on human health. Furthermore, this thesis is focused on burnout syndrome and its main causes and consequences. The empirical part is based on quantitative research which is focused on extent of work load and burnout syndrome among employees in banking sector. Also it verifies the existence of correlation between the extent of the work load and sex, age, duration of practice and correlation between the burnout syndrome and sex, age and duration of practice. There was used a questionnaire survey for gaining all the data. The facts were processed and evaluated by statistical methods.

Risk and prevention of the burnout syndrome during a work career
Petrecká, Veronika ; Jarošová, Eva (advisor) ; Hochel, Matej (referee)
This dissertation identifies factors causing the burnout syndrome, which occur especially in the area of work career. It discusses risks that cause the burnout syndrome and the possibilities of its prevention. The theoretical part analyses particular aspects of burnout and describes career as a significant part of human life. The second part of the dissertation evaluates research that was conducted in a chosen organisation. Findings regarding a stress prevention programme are discussed in the second part, as well as the topic of how ready participants are to use the gained knowledge in real life. The paper also assesses how employees and their supervisors evaluate the stress prevention programme. The purpose of this dissertation is to analyse the effectiveness of the stress prevention programme and its impacts. Some suggestions of possible improvements within the programme are also mentioned.

Human behaviour in a crisis situation
Kreislová, Jana ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Hurt, Pavel (referee)
This baccalaureate work deals with human behaviour in crisis situations. The intention of this work is to recognize circumstances, background, causes and process of home violence as a specific crisis situation. In the theoretical part first of all there are defined terms as crisis, stress, home violence and the other terms related with given matters. The work deals with the explanation of the concept of the crisis from the point of view of its types, the cause of the crisis, its determinants, and the work does not miss the crisis process. The next bigger chapter concentrates on the concept of stress. Above all it describes how the stress is explained and which way the stress situation can influence the person. The focus of the work lies in the home violence definition. It concentrates on the explanation of the concept and on the description of typology of violence, its forms, cycle, causes and consequences of violence. Except mentioned matters there are also analyzed characteristics of violent persons from the point of view of men and women. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the crisis intervention and gives the survey of possible ways of help in case of threat and health hazard due to home violence. The practical part of the work pays attention to the analysis of carried interviews which characterize and support the described problems with the viewpoint of home violence victims.

Řehková, Lenka ; Kašparová, Eva (advisor) ; Hochel, Matej (referee)
The main essence of this Master's thesis is to examine students of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at the University of Economics, Prague and then determine whether students are at risk of burnout or already suffering from it. The theoretical part deals with the explanation of the terms - particularly burnout syndrome, its risk factors, symptoms and stages. Then there is the section dedicated to the prevention and treatment of burnout syndrome. Also noteworthy is the comparison of relations between burnout syndrome and stress, depression, and time management. The next chapter is about the characteristics of people who may be at risk of burnout, and a description of professions, which are most affected by burnout. The end of this part is about the University of Economics, Prague, the Faculty of Business Administration and its students. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part, which is based on questionnaire survey, which shows whether students of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) at the University of Economics, Prague are at risk of burnout syndrome or already suffering from it. After evaluation of the questionnaires and evaluate hypotheses at the end of the work a few recommendations for students.

Problematic behaviour in shelter dogs
Kubíková, Kateřina ; Fiala Šebková, Naděžda (advisor) ; Chmelíková, Eva (referee)
The aim was to create the most comprehensive scientific literature review on the topic of problematic dog behavior in the shelters. The work defines physiological and psychological needs of the dog and its natural behavior. There is described the influence of stress, most frequented causes and consequences and different types of behavior problems, which we can meet in dogshelters. Further are the factors that influence the behavior of the dog in the shelter, and the factors that increase the chance of a dog to be adopted. This chapter describes the issue of overpopulation of dogs in the world and castration and sterilization programs to control animal population. The next part deals with the possible problems that may occur after the dog is adopted by new owner, especially if the owner already have other dogs or children. The final part of the review focuses on euthanasia, which is compared to the situation in the Czech Republic and abroad. Problems that may occur after the adoption of a dog from a shelter can be prevented by choosing a suitable dog due of the physical and time schedule of the owner and his experiences with dogs.
