Usage of high-speed camera in the area of switching arc
Samohejl, Matěj ; Bušov, Bohuslav (referee) ; Valenta, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis is focused on optimizing recording of electrical switching arc in magnetic switches by high-speed camera. Measurements were performed on the circuit breaker 10B without removed side case, which was subsequently cowled by neutral density filter. The voltage and current of the circuit breaker contacts were acquired by measuring system of the Laboratory of switching arc diagnostics. The energy source was motor-generator with a nominal power 16 MVA and test bench consisting of a capacitors and inductors, which have been tuned to the resonance frequency of 50 Hz. Evaluation of the measurements was taken with regard to the brightness distribution levels of the record. Results showed that the mean brightness value varies on the square of the current passing through. For proper localization of the arc, it is necessary to appropriately set the camera exposure. The main problem usually is to darken the scene enough. It was found that it is necessary to take into account that brightness level change depends nonlinear on the exposure offset. The thesis gives a proposal to determine the exposure shift of the record. The possibility of usage high-speed camera to determine the temperature distribution in the arc using the brightness equiintensities was also designed. There are mentioned suggestions how to improve recording of the arc in circuit breakers, especially in the arrangement of the optical parts.

Folic acid - importance in the prevention of birth defects and its intake in pregnancy
CARDOVÁ, Sabina
The folic acid belongs to the group of hydrophilic B vitamins. Folic acid is required for many chemical reactions related to onecarbon transfers such as biosynthesis of purines and pyrimidines, building blocks of DNA and RNA. Therefore, folate is crucial especially during periods of rapid growth and development. During pregnancy is the need of folic acid significantly increasing due to the maternal tissue, placenta and fetus growth. Periconceptional intake of folic acid is known to reduce a woman's risk of having an infant affected by congenital malformations, especially neural tube birth defect (NTD). Women who are planning to conceive should be informed about the importance of folic acid. It is recommended to take folic acid supplementation for 3 months before pregnancy and continue with usage of supplementation until the end of the second trimester. Insufficient folate supply of the population is a global problem. Improvement is possible by increased consumption of folaterich foods and food supplements. Some countries have introduced mandatory fortification of food. Most often it is the enrichment of bread, rice and pasta. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters. The first chapters is focused on birth defects. This part includes a brief characterization of their occurrence, the factors that contribute to their formation, individual defects and contains information about perinatal diagnosis and primary prevention. The second chapter deals with the importance of folic acid in pregnancy. It also describes ways of folic acid absorption, food sources, stability and the possibility of increasing folate intake. This part presents risks of folic acid excess and the risk of folate deficiency. The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the awareness among pregnant women about the importance of folic acid in the prevention of birth defects and to evaluate whether pregnant women endeavor for an adequate supply of folic acid. There were set up the two research questions: "What is the pregnant women awareness about the importance of folic acid in the prevention of birth defects?" and "To what extent pregnant women endeavor for the adequate supply of folic acid?". The practical part of the thesis was created using quantitative research method. Data collection was conducted in the form of printed questionnaires in the South Bohemia region, part of the questionnaires I received in electronic form. The questionnaire was anonymous, it consisted of 26 questions. It is evident from the results that 84% of pregnant women have awareness about the importance of folic acid in the prevention of birth defects. 20% of the surveyed women answered correctly what kind of defects are congenital malformations. Only 4% of the women gave completely correct answer to the question in which period is the most important sufficient supply of folate in the prevention of birth defects. Partially correct in this question were 55% of respondents. The vast majority of the pregnant women (93%) used a dietary supplement containing folic acid. However, only 40% of the women were using these supplements before conception. It seems that women of childbearing age and women planning a pregnancy are not sufficiently informed or do not follow recommendations from specialists. Consumption of foods rich in folate was seldom for these women. For most of them were characteristic insufficient supply of vegetables and legumes. The positive finding of the research was that pregnant women consume most of the vegetables in raw form. The stores are selling some products fortified with folic acid, it is salt, some drinks and variety of different cereals. Most of the women were not aware of these products, only 5% of women have purchased the product.

Patients with implanted cardioverter defibrillators
HEŘMANSKÁ, Marie
This Bachelor Thesis deals with the issue of implantable cardioverter defibrillator usage, namely with the impact of implantable cardioverter defibrillator on patient life and the details of nursing care in scope of implantation of these devices. The implantable cardioverter defibrillator (hereinafter referred as to "ICD") enables to prevent or avert heart failure which affects approximately 2 % of population. Nearly 3/4 of cases of sudden death take place at home and 2/3 of these cases are witnessed by other person. Indications for the ICD implantation are severe malignant ventricular tachycardia (ventricular tachycardia, fibrillation and chamber flutter) which rapidly lead to the circulation failure, unconsciousness and, finally, death. The rapid termination of such arrhythmias by ICD saves the life of its holder. The diagnostics shall commence by the standard electrocardiogram (ECG). The field study of the Bachelor Thesis includes results of the qualitative research based on the semi structured interview. The research group contained thirteen patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillator, residing in Středočeský kraj (Central Bohemia Region) and Jihočeský kraj (South Bohemia Region), who have had their ICD at least for a year. All respondents were asked ten basic questions as a part of the interview. The interviews were recorded over voice recorder and subsequently were directly transcribed to text. The interviews were processed while using the open coding, paper and pencil method. The data analysis produced five categories: Difficulties before the implementation of ICD, Changes in lifestyle after the implementation of ICD (with subcategories of Life certainties, Common activities, Employment, Driving and State of mind), Defibrillator shock, Nursing care and Importance of ICD for patients. The research shows that patients are predominantly satisfied with the nursing care. Nearly all respondents do not feel the need for increased nursing care while being in hospital. Patients greatly appreciated the wound care all respondents were satisfied with this precise type of care as no complications did occur while healing and the wounds healed per primam. I see imperfections in the patient education although ten patients state that they were duly informed, they were informed only by their doctor. Only one patient states that he was given "certain" information from the nurse. However, these results may be misrepresented by patients due to the time lapse (from the hospitalization). Furthermore, the research shows that ICD device does not influence common activities of majority of respondents. Nearly all respondents experience mental relief and the improvement of life quality. The respondents do not consider the restriction connected to the ICD usage to be negative. The majority of them try to observe given advices (in scope of driving, travelling, magnetic security systems, etc.) which do not restrict them in their common life significantly. Even though their disease is severe and endangers their life, the patients with these devices may travel abroad, do sports, work and live their normal life with less risk of sudden heart failure. Twelve respondents out of thirteen consider the ICD to be of great significance to their life. The outcome of this Bachelor Thesis is the Guide for ICD Patients.

Men's awareness about the issue of testicular cancer.
POSPÍŠILOVÁ, Markéta
Theoretical solution Testicles are the primary male sexual organs producing testosterone. They not only make sperm but also secondary sexual features and the whole personality. We should mainly pay attention to testes in oncology because there are more occurrences of tumors with the men of younger age. These men might be very sensitive about the problems concerning sexual system and that is why the bachelor thesis deals with the issues of men's knowledge of testicular cancer. There is basic information in the thesis about organs anatomy, factor of disease, diagnostics and medical treatment. The thesis is further focused on secondary preventive measures and method of self-examination of testicles. It helps to recognize the problem in time which is in this kind of cancer very crucial. There is also mentioned the role of nurses and their instruction to men about the prevention of testicular cancer, medical care of the patient during the diagnostics, pre-operative preparation, postoperative care and other healing process. Aim of the Thesis Aim 1 Find out how much men are aware in the field of testicular cancer? Aim 2 Find out the change of behavior of men to their health after the operation of testicles? Research Question n. 1 How much men are aware about the problem in their risk age? Question n. 2 How much men are aware of self-examination methods? Question n. 3 In what field has changed the men's behavior to their health after the operation of testicles? Methodology To be able to find out necessary data, qualitative method was picked. To the collection of information was used method of half-standard interview with the questions to the concrete issues. Five respondents in a risk age were approached to the research in the case of malignant tumors origin on testicles and five respondents who had already undergone the treatment of this disease. Information was analyzed, consequently put to the categories and finally evaluated. Results Results of the research showed that men are mostly aware of the problems of testicular cancer. They usually underestimate this disease because they are not informed about the issue enough. Men usually know about the symptoms but most of them have wrong idea about the age occurrence and medical treatment. Preventive method of self-examination is for men usually unknown. Respondents who underwent operation of malignant tumor of testicles are about this method properly instructed. Frequently, according to the results, they make light the return of the disease and also do not practice the self-examination method regularly. Results also revealed that this disease is still somehow a taboo. Some respondents with the successful cure admitted that they were ashamed for this diagnoses. Conclusion The research showed us that men are not informed enough about the malignant tumor of testicles. This also confirms the fact that healthy men do not know the self-examination method. According to the results men who underwent the treatment of testicular cancer are now more informed but they usually underestimate the necessity to do the self-examination regularly. They also admitted in the interview that they were not informed enough before the disease. If they were, their health problem could have been discovered earlier and the high risk of metastasis could have been lower. For all this there is a need to increase the knowledge of the malignant testicle tumors in population which will influence the regular usage of self-examination method and it can also change the attitude of men to their health. Bachelor thesis contains pamphlet about the origin of testicular cancer. It is intended for men who are in risk age and it will be offered as a practical usage in medical facility.

Polytomous IRT models and their usage in personality diagnostic
Jelínek, Martin ; Květon, Petr ; Vobořil, Dalibor
The presented study describes basic types IRT (item response theory) models for polytomous items. Graded response model and its modifications, partial credit model, rating scale model, and nominal response model are discussed. The usage of graded response model and generalized partial credit model is illustrated on the example of Rosenberg’s self-esteemscale. Although these two models differ in their concept, the actual trait estimates (self-esteem) are basically the same.
