Importance of Postural Activation of the Diaphragm in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Švábková, Anna ; Havlová, Martina (advisor) ; Nováková, Petra (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT The title of the work: Importance of Postural Activation of the Diaphragm in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Bachelor Thesis Abstract: This bachelor thesis on the topic of the postural activation of the diaphragm in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part includes a description of the physiology of breathing - breathing is considered a motoric function here. The theoretical part occupies itself with a description of kinesiology of breathing and the breathing pattern. A separate chapter is devoted to the diaphragm, its anatomy, and its postural breathing function. In this vein, the thesis presents the notion of the deep stabilizing system of the spine and the possibilities of affecting it therapeutically. Further, it defines the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, characterizes its effects, especially with regard to physiotherapy, and presents the possibilities for a complex treatment. As regards the complex treatment, the thesis focuses on the non-pharmacologic alternative, i.e. lung rehabilitation. It analyses in detail the topic of respiratory physiotherapy as one of the elements of lung rehabilitation. The list of tools of respiratory physiotherapy contains: corrective...
Adenoid hypertrophy and adenodectomy from the viewpoint of the respirotory physiotherapy
Světlíková, Adéla ; Smolíková, Libuše (advisor) ; Matyášek, Michal (referee)
The aim of the thesis is the examination of respiratory and postural changes on examined group of children after adenoidectomy and evaluation, whether it is recommended in post- operative phase to indicate respiratory physiotherapy for the examined children. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the anatomy, etiology and symptomatology, which accompanies adenoid hypertrophy. Furthermore, there is a description of the kinesiology examination and complete methodology of respiratory physiotherapy and more. In the practical part of the thesis there is a statistic analysis of the examination of 20 children after adenoidectomy and control group investigation. Examination content is the thoracic respiratory excursion (breathing amplitude) and orientational examination of lungs function (PEF, FEV 0,5, FEV 0,75 and FEV1) using digital Peak Flow Meter. The part of the thesis i also kinesiology analysis and questionnaire filled up before adenoidectomy and 3 weeks after operation.
Respiratory physiotherapy in neurology
Srp, Martin ; Jech, Robert (advisor) ; Baláž, Marek (referee) ; Konečný, Petr (referee)
Pneumonia is the leading cause of death in a large proportion of neurological diseases. Respiratory physiotherapy serves as a non-pharmacological option for supporting airway hygiene. However, current awareness of respiratory physiotherapy in neurological patients is not satisfactory. The aim of this thesis is to verify the effectiveness of expiratory muscle strength training (EMST) in three neurological diseases: multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease (PD) and multiple system atrophy (MSA). The results of this thesis show: 1) EMST led to a significant increase in expiratory muscle strength and voluntary peak cough flow in patients with MS. Therefore, we have shown that EMST is an effective method of respiratory physiotherapy in promoting airway hygiene in patients with MS. 2) We found in a demographic study that the PD healthcare model in Czechia is suboptimal. The utilization of a respiratory physiotherapy is low, and therefore its reorganization is needed. 3) We developed and patented a mobile application SpiroGym which provides visual feedback during training and sends the training results via a secure server directly to the therapist for telemedicine needs. In a pilot study, we verified its feasibility in patients with PD. The study results indicate that EMST coupled with the SpiroGym...

Physiotherapeutic possibilities of alteration of respiratory mechanism of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Nečasová, Zuzana ; Havlová, Martina (advisor) ; Froňková, Eliška (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Author: Zuzana Nečasová Supervisor: Mgr. Martina Havlová Title: Physiotherapeutic possibilities of alteration of respiratory mechanism of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases and physiotherapeutic possibilities of influencing the mechanics of respiration in patients with this diagnosis. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a progressive disease of the airways, and physiotherapy may play an important role in slowing the progression and improving the quality of life in people with this diagnosis. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis describes chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and elements of pulmonary rehabilitation, the attention is focused mainly on the procedures of respiratory physiotherapy. The practical part is devoted to the work with a patient hospitalized at the 1st Department of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, who was admitted after prolonged exacerbations in order to improve the condition for the possibility of performing bronchoscopic volume reduction. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to compile a suitable combination of physiotherapeutic techniques in the treatment of patients with COPD. The...

Dvorská, Veronika ; Heřmánková, Barbora (advisor) ; Charvát, Robert (referee)
Title: The case study of physiotherapeutic treatment of a patient after acute respiratory failure caused by Legionella pneumonia. Objectives: This work aimed to summarize general pieces of information about the respiratory system, Legionella pneumonia, and acute respiratory failure and perform a case study of a patient with this condition. Methods: This thesis is divided into general and practical parts. The general part covers anatomical, physiological, and pathophysiological facts about the respiratory system, issues associated with Legionella pneumonia and acute respiratory failure, as well as physiotherapeutic methods used to treat patients with this condition. The practical part is a case study of a patient who experienced acute respiratory failure cause by Legionella pneumophila. All physiotherapy methods used were regularly recorded. The case study was carried out during a 4-week internship at the Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine between January and February 2021. Results: At the beginning of the treatment, the patient was in a medically induced coma connected to breathing assistance. However, his condition soon began to improve. The most significant results were achieved in terms of mobility and physical ability of the patient. Furthermore, the muscle strength and the...

Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient with MODS and Covid-19 in Case History
Jílková, Lucie ; Opatrná Novotná, Irena (advisor) ; Charvát, Robert (referee)
Title: Case study of the physiotherapy treatment of patient with MODS and Covid-19 in case history Abstract This bachelor's thesis deals with the issue of acute and postacute physiotherapeutic care in patients hospitalized in the ICU. The primary aim of the thesis was to conduct the specific case study and provide theoretical basis for diagnoses and physiotherapeutic interventions related to the given case study. Secondary objective was to briefly summarise the current available knowledge about Covid-19, post-Covid syndrome and highlight the importance of this issue in physiotherapeutic practice. This report is divided into three main parts. The first two chapters are theoretical. They focus on detailed descriptions of selected diagnoses and possible therapeutic interventions. These include systemic inflammatory response syndrome, sepsis, septic shock, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome, acute respiratory distress syndrome and post-Covid syndrome. Within the physiotherapeutic approaches, selected methods of pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory physiotherapy and current recommended rehabilitation procedures for patients with post-Covid syndrome are presented. The third part is practical and contains a specific case study of a patient with a history of multiorgan failure and Covid-19 disease. The case study...
