Helena Pavlovcová, bachelor thesis My window. The theoretical part of the thesis describes principles of the photography, studies the general history of the photography until the 20th century. At the end it concerns the work and life of Josef Sudek, who is because of his work and primarily his series Window of my atelier an inspiration for the creation of the file of photographies in the practical part.

Window. The Art Project for 2nd Grade of Elementary School (practical-theoretical thesis)

This diploma thesis offers insight into the issue of window, into the variability of the issue and its usage during art lessons in the lower secondary schools. The first chapter of the theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the form and the function of window in course of the historical development of architecture. Next chapters deal with the usage of the motif of the window in painting in the course of history and the usage of the motif of the window in art during the last century. The end of theoretical part of the thesis deals with motif of the window in Czech language and literature and the last chapter defines the project in education and its history. The practical part is based on the findings in the theoretical part that become the source of inspiration for the application of the topic in the art lessons. This part focuses on preparation, process and the reflection of author's own art lessons that have been realised in the lower secondary school.

Development of the Window in the history of architecture

Theoretical part of the paper will be devoted to the development of the window as one of indispensable architectonic parts. Historical development of the window, its meaning, changes of shape etc. can be traced from roman style until the beginnings of the modern architecture in the Czech Republic with the reference to important architectonic centers. The biggest emphasis will be placed on the gothic era due to the characteristics of this project. In a practical part of the project a haptic model will be made out a burned clay completed with the collection of sketches. The model will be adjusted for the needs of the blind and should be primarily used for their education. The final project will be placed to the Church of Virgin Mary in Ceske Budejovice, where it will be part of the exposition "Haptic models for the disabled"

Gesture. Significance of an object in grey zone of public space

The dissertation thesis deals with the relation of a person towards the physical public space from the point of view of an artist/teacher in the academic milieu. The frequently discussed subject of public space is not limited to purely artistic sphere or artistic gesture. It also implies a simple transgression to everyday life related to education and cultivation. An essential part of the research is the case study at the Department of Art Education of the Faculty of Education of the Charles University, which inquires into the perception of the future pedagogues of the physical public space and how they gtranslate it into the art language. The cornerstone stimulus for the research lies in the premise that future teachers will, through the prism of their view of the worl and by their vocation influence the education of the young generation. This fact of transgression is given by the existence of the subject of Art Education where the 3D design itself plays a certain role. The research is focused on what lies behind the phenomena in the process of the creation and inception of "something new" in the physical public space. Caspar David Friedrich, The motif of figure at the window, its genesis and evolution.

The thesis deals with the life and work of Caspar David Friedrich (1774 - 1840) who is considered one of the most important painters and drawers of the German romanticism. His main contribution for painting was the creation of pictures with subjective, later also politically motivated symbolism. The themes of his works in particular included the nature where persons often stand and watch the landscape in distance. The first chapter provides information on the personality and work of the painter who created a new style of landscaping. In nature he discovered the spiritual element that he connected with the picture. The work then describes the influences of the romantic literary movement and religion on his work. The second chapter presents a female figure turned with her back to the viewer in a painting called Woman by the Window from 1822. Various interpretations of art historians connected especially with romanticising visions of individuality and infinity are presented. The origin and development of the female figure turned with her back to the viewer in painting from prehistoric times up to the 20th century is also outlined.
