Structure and Research of Out-Of-School Influences on the Musical Development of the Child

The Diploma Thesis deals with the matters of children's musicality and the main factors influencing it. The thesis includes a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part focuses on the musicality issue and its structure, as well as on the factors that participate in this matter. Special attention is put to the out-of-school influences on the development of musicality. There is an outline of the influence of a family and its members, characteristics of a contemporary family and a present-day lifestyle. The thesis also deals with a social group influence and the impact of mass media, such as television, computers and the Internet. One of the subchapters is dedicated to the out-of-school artistic interests of children; another one deals with how music around us can act in a form of commercials, or in a store, for example. The practical part of this thesis is formed through a research oriented to the out-of-school influences mentioned above. This research was held at Libčická Primary School, Prague. The research included a questionnaire; the next step was a musical ability test, which later served to the elaboration of case studies of selected children. Title: The issue of musicality in gymnastics programs at UK FTVS Objectives: Qualify changes in the level of musicality on students due to the intervention program of subjects Rhythmic gymnastics, Gymnastics I - Dance and Adapted movement and dance pedagogy at UK FTVS and present results of testing. Methods: In my thesis I mostly used analytic and synthetic method based on consolidation of data from written and video sources and their organization in content of my thesis and context of time period. The thesis also used an experimental method associated with data collection and their evaluation. The practical part is conceived as testing. Results: Description of the musicality test results. The use of melodic instruments in musical activities of preschool children.

The theme of the thesis is the musicality of preschool age children and their ability to work with even more difficult melodic instruments. The theoretical part is focused on defining the concept of musicality, musical development of children from birth to 6 years, musical creativity and the influence of music on the successful entry into primary school. Another integral part of the theory is a division of Carl Orff instrumentation, its correct name and methodology games. The aim of the practical part is an exhibition of the use of melodic instruments by preschool children to particular songs and its integration into the thematic musical locomotor performance. The survey was conducted qualitatively by a method of an involved and unstructured observation, supplemented by photographs and video footage. I have evaluated the use of melodic instruments as achievable and appropriate provided by an informed leadership.

This diploma thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains the characteristics of school age, basic physiology of hearing and voice, describes the development of musical abilities and their classification. It also defines the basic concepts of music psychology, describes some of the basic methodology of music education and addresses issues of motivation at school. The practical part consists of a project for school clubs on "Round the world journey". The project focuses on developing musical skills and abilities through play, building positive relationships within the group and learning about the culture of other nations.

The aim of this bachelor thesis was to introduce the musicalness of the pre-school-aged children and its development. Topics connected with fipple flute - its history, application during teaching of the pre-school-aged children and mainly chapters focusing on the correct breathing while playing the instrument, can also be found in the work. The thesis mentions a distinguished Czech teacher of the fipple flute Vaclav Zilka and his cooperator docent Vit Petrů. Professor Zilka has continued his project called "The Wooden Flute" with another project - "Healing Flute" and significantly contributed to the recovering process of the children afflicted with asthma and other breathing difficulties. He has also created a well-organized and a simple-to-use course book fot small flute players, which involves basis of playing the musical instrument as well as several practical breathing exercises.
