Soliman, Abdelrahman ; Jelínková, Marie (advisor) ; Dobiášová, Karolína (referee)
Research on inequities, especially in health care access among immigrants in Germany, has always reflected some of the disparities between the resident population and the immigrants. However, little attention is always placed on the potential inequalities regarding health care within the immigrants (Arab immigrants). Across Europe, Germany is known to receive the highest immigrant numbers, especially from the Arabic world. Since 2013, Germany has received at least 400,000 to 1500,000 immigrants from the Arab world. For this reason, this study analyses challenges faced by the Arab immigrants in access to healthcare in Germany and the underutilization of the medical care services by the Arab immigrant community. The methodological angle undertaken in this study considers relevant literatures to the topic in analysis the state of the matter in Germany by comparing findings from the considered literatures from previous research on the same topic as the study herein. Ignatyeva, Ekaterina
The diploma thesis explores the relation between the processes of segregation and integration through the study of everyday cohabitation and social interaction that takes place in areas of concentrated Russian immigrants in Prague. Analysis of the media's discourse shows the negative impact on Russian immigrants in social interactions with the majority, subsequently reducing integration and deepening social inequality. At the beginning, locations with a significant concentration of Russian immigrants are identified and defined by the quantitative research. Next, the daily interaction among Russian immigrants and the Czech majority is examined in selected locations by the qualitative research. The conclusions discuss how research of everyday cohabitation and social interaction contributed to the understanding of the processes of segregation and the...

Nguyen, Mai Phuong ; Helman, Ivy Ann (advisor) ; Kobová, Ĺubica (referee)
Although Vietnamese has currently made up one of the three largest foreign community in the Czech Republic, the number of studies that focus on the challenges of Vietnamese immigrant descendants, especially regarding their ethnic identities in the Czech society is unfortunately confined. Different from their parents, one of the biggest obstacles that young Vietnamese descendants in the Czech Republic are facing in life is the question of their ethnic identities in the term of liminality and being strangers to both cultures (Vietnamese and Czech). Taking those reasons into account, this thesis aims to examine the experiences of "being stuck in-between" and confronting the process of (re)forming and shifting ethnic identities among children of Vietnamese immigrants in the Czech Republic in the relation with other gendered identities that they define with. Based on a feminist approach, this paper pulls together prior and existing studies, developing from the data collected from questionnaire surveys and in-depth interviews to illustrate the subject matter. Mlynářová, J. ; Kilani, M. ; Alivernini, Sergio
The Crossroads III – A Stranger in the House. Foreigners in Ancient Egyptian and Near Eastern Societies of the Bronze Age conference has been held at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University (Prague) between September 10 and 13, 2018. The main objective of the conference was to enhance our understanding of “foreignness” in ancient societies between the end of the Chalcolithic period and the end of the Late Bronze Age. This book collects some of the twenty most significant contributions presented at the conference. Some authors decided to approach the discussion from a theoretical perspective, or to present and discuss theoretical frameworks that could be used to explore at least some elements underlying the concept of “foreignness”. Others investigated sociocultural dimension involved in the presence of foreigners, or in their interactions with local communities. Cases from Egypt, Mesopotamia, Anatolia, and the Levant, covering the whole of the Bronze Age have been discussed. The wide range of perspectives, and their combination within the frame of the conference often stimulated that multidisciplinary dialogue that was the primary aim of this third edition of Crossroads

Racial tensions in UK escalating to violent conflicts from early 50ʼs on, led to series of changes in British legislation.
