Design of Hydroponic Flowerpot
Grygerek, Jan ; Buganská, Tamara (referee) ; Sládek, Josef (advisor)
The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the design of an interior hydroponic flowerpot, including its covering and lighting. The main problematic is light smog and finding the smallest possible optimal size of the entire device. Physical laws, passive principles and materials with specific properties are used to find the solution. Particularly, light smog is achived with a dichroic foil. The proposed design of the hydroponic planter is an ideal solution for people living in smaller apartments without the possibility of having their own garden.

Školníková, Marie
The aim of this diploma thesis is determination of the influence of deficient nutrition in combination of Pseudomonas syringae pv. tomato infection on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) growth and development. In hydroponic cultivation experiment, tomato variety Darinka was cultivated in solutions without N, P, K, Ca, Mg and in variant with all nutrition (control variant). The dry matter of root and stem was weighed and root length, density and electrical capacitance were set. The content of nutrition in plants was also assessed. The level of infection was determined in 1st term, the highest level had plants with insufficient of Ca and P. High reduction of root and stem dry matter was found in Ca, N, P and Mg deficient plants. The low root electrical capacitance, length and density was determined in plants with Ca, N a P deficiency within infected group and in Ca and N deficient plants within noninfected group. Bacterial infection caused the reduction of all observing parameters in contrast to the plants from noninfected group. The antagonism and synergism between the elements were also showed.

Subsequently describes methods of growing interior plants, namely hydroponics and green walls. The bachelor thesis includes example and budget of selected vegetation modifications and evaluation of student knowledge in Faculty of Horticulture, Mendel University Brno, about interior plants. Last part deals with information board installed in the premises of Mendel University in Lednice, which provides useful information and demonstration of the substrates
Community vermicomposting of biodegradable municipal waste
Klubalová, Kateřina ; Innemanová, Petra (advisor) ; Hnátková, Tereza (referee)
The method of vermicomposting experiences a big boom nowadays. The people living in flats can process bio-waste, which they produce on their own. Therefore, the amount of biodegradable municipal waste contained in the dumped mixed municipal waste slightly reduces. In addition, people can benefit from high-quality products called vermicompost and its leachate called worm tea. In this work I summarize acquired knowledge about the vermicomposting focusing on kitchen waste, about conditions, which this method demands, about composition and the possibility of using the end products. Also, it is discussed which bio-waste is suitable for vermicomposting and what earthworm species can be used. The theoretical side of using worm tea in the hydroponic cultivation of plants is discussed. The toxicity of different concentrations of worm tea on a seeds of Sinapis Alba was tested in the experimental part. The concentration row 2,5; 5,0; 7,5; and 10,0 vol. % of four different samples of worm tea from different bio- waste was used. Distilled water was used as a control solution. The values of inhibition for each concentration of worm tea were calculated. Available literature recommends to dilute worm tea in ratio of 1:9 with water. However, the results showed that this dilution is already inhibitory for some...
Combined mocrobial treatmens in hydroponic cultivation of tomato and cucumber the effect on yield parameters and antioxidant contens in fruits
Pikorová, Markéta ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Látr, Aleš (referee)
Some microorganisms are known to form mutualistic symbiosis with plant roots and by their impact they can improve some plant parameters. These symbiotic microorganisms, which are able to improve some plant parameters, include especially mycorrhizal fungi, plant growth promoting bacteria and some saprotrophic mycoparasitical fungi. Mechanisms of changes of these parameters, as influenced by symbiotic microorganisms, are known only in part and nowadays are being actively researched. Aims of this work were to find out if selected microbial treatments influence selected growth, physiological and yield parameters of plants and contents of selected substances in fruits. Within this work were made three pot greenhouse experiments (experiments 1, 2 and 3) and three pilot greenhouse experiments (experiments 4, 5 and 6), performed on tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and cucumber (Cucumis sativus) plants. Plants were grown in hydroponics using a carrier of rockwool and they were watered by nutrient solution. As microbial treatments for plants in experiments have been used a mixture of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AM), mixture of plant growth promoting bacteria (PGPB), saprotrophic mycoparasitical fungus Trichoderma harzianum (Th) and various mutual combinations of these treatments. There have been observed...
Thorium accumulation and study of stress responces of plants on thorium presence
Kufner, Daniel ; Soudek, Petr (advisor) ; Petrová, Šárka (referee)
The ability of the accumulation of thorium and study of the stress responses on his presence was tested on a selected cultivar of tobacco, La Burley 21. Plants were cultivated in Hoagland's hydroponic medium under artificial light. Except to the ability of accumulation and distribution of thorium in the all parts of plant was investigated the effect of selected organic and inorganic additions on accumulation. Among organic substances included citric acid, tartaric and oxalic acid in their presence was observed the increase of thorium in all parts of the plant. Were also tested products from the diamine and polyamines (putrescine, cadaverine, spermine and spermidin). These substances, also known for their antioxidant activity in plants, had an impact on reducing the accumulation of thorium, especially in the root system of plants. The most important factor influencing the accumulation of thorium was the absence of phosphate ions in a hydroponic medium, which caused the rise of the concentration of thorium about several levels in all parts of the plants. The initial decrease of pH after additions of organic acids or addition of high concentrations of thorium and the gradual increase of pH during cultivation had proved significant. It was also compared the uptake of accumulation and distribution of...
Investigation of nano zero-valent iron and zinc interactions with plants in the hydroponics
Švengrová, Denisa ; Vítková, Martina (advisor) ; Petr, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the issue of nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron (nZVI) application for the chemically assisted phytostabilization of zinc (Zn) in order to decrease mobility of this element in the environment. The interactions of nZVI and Zn have been investigated during the experiments using tomato plants (Lycopersicon esculentum L.), which were grown in a hydroponic solution. Furthermore, the effects of the interactions on the uptake of water, macronutrients and iron (Fe) have been assessed. The use of nZVI proved to be an effective solution for the stabilization of lower concentrations of Zn (100 micromol) in the root system or for purposes of the assisted phytoremediation. However, the impact of nZVI was not significant high concentrations of Zn (500 micromol). During the application of Zn at increased concentrations a decrease in water uptake has been observed, which can limit the macronutrient uptake. It is necessary to pay attention to further research and study the effects of the nanoparticles application and their interactions in the environment.
