A System for Monitoring Status of Network Links via SNMP
Zubčák, Peter ; Trchalík, Roman (referee) ; Rychlý, Marek (advisor)
The goal of the bachelor thesis is an implementation of the system for monitoring status of network links. System collects information from network nodes, from which calculates metrics and statistics, which are available for users in MIB. The communications with network nodes is proceeded by SNMP protocol. The system is implemented in C++ language as a multiplatform service.

Semestral thesis is focused on measurement of communication delay in networks. There is described creation of individual kinds of delay during the transfer in networks. Tools for measurement of delay are described and web pages are designed and made too. There is measured delay on choose 27 IP address with help of this page.
Possibilities of QoS algorithms simulation and optimization
Charvát, Ondřej ; Číka, Petr (referee) ; Krajsa, Ondřej (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis deals with problematics of data transmission control in converged networks which is implemented there to offer telecommunication services in desired quality. Theoretical part of the thesis provides an overview of measurable parameters and lists factors by which they are affected. It discusses different levels of services offered and finally techniques used for it's provisioning as they are implemented in network appliances. In practical part a model of network with QoS implementation is constructed in simulation software Simulink. There are several traffic flows running in the simulated network which has different demands on transfer quality such as telephony or bulky file transfer. There is graphical user interface programmed in Matlab enviroment by which it is possible to alter QoS settings in the model and observe effect on achieved parameters of running data transfers. All simulation results are also displayed on the user interface. User may set all parameters manualy or let the software optimize settings according to prefered criterion, i.e. packet loss. In such way model demonstrates how changes in QoS configuratinon affects quality of services being transferred. The whole model is constructed in a way to be easily reconfigured in case of future use. It is possible for expample to add more traffic or to extend the model to larger network by using predefined blocks.
Estimate of data strem delay during transit through network device
Dopita, Michal ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Verner, Lukáš (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the issue Estimation of delay during the data flow going through network device. There is analyze of network parameters, which influent final delay, detection of delay in data networks and types of delay in the network. The practil part is focused on development of the software, which performs the estimation of delay. At the end there is a summary of the whole thesis and evaluation of measurements.
Measurement of influence of network impairments on VoIP call quality
Zelenay, Martin ; Krkoš, Radko (referee) ; Šilhavý, Pavel (advisor)
This work explores, analyzes and rates influence of network impairments on VoIP traffic. It describes how voice over IP is carried according to standards. There are described concepts and basics of VoIP networks with orientation on facts necessary to understand analyzed actions and measurements in theoretical part. In practical part, there is described realization of tests according to instructions with orientation on initial checking of devices and rating models and then measurement of influence of network impairments on quality of calls with use of these devices and Opensource PBX Asterisk.
Mobile IP in MANETs
Raška, Martin ; Hošek, Jiří (referee) ; Skořepa, Michal (advisor)
This thesis discuss about the problem with mobility of stations in IP networks, concretely protocol Mobile IP and about the problems with this protocol in MANET networks, with the scope on Motorola MESH. First part is about design integration of protocol Mobile IP in this networks with usage Tropos 5210 MetroMesh routers and Cisco components (router, switch) to design and configure wireless MESH network, than connect this network with Cisco components and try to implement Mobile IP into this network. Second part is about design and configure wireless network from Cisco Wireless Access Points and about succesfully implementation of Mobile IP protocol into this network. In the last part is some tests of the function and quality of this topology.
Network infrastructure performance analysis
Barniak, Martin ; Verner, Lukáš (referee) ; Krkoš, Radko (advisor)
This thesis deals with analysis of network infrasctructure. It focuses on devices like a switch and router. To analyse a network we usually use resources which are divided into basic and advanced. Basic resources are the most commom like a ping, trace route, netstat, route or arp. The term advanced means network analyzers. Network analyzer is Optixia XM2. Next are described individual key parameters which are dependent on function and reliability of computer network. Thesis describe measurement methods like RFC 2544, RFC 3393 and EtherSAM. The conclusion is devoted to individual measurements and their evaluation.
Active IP Geolocation for Verification Host Position in Internet
Balej, Jiří ; Róka, Rastislav (referee) ; Zdrálek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Komosný, Dan (advisor)
Dissertation thesis deals with methods for finding the location of the device in the Internet, based on knowledge of the IP address. The process is called IP geolocation and is currently solved by geolocation databases or by measurement of network properties to the IP address. The disadvantage of nowadays geolocation databases is an incorrect information about some locations, because they can be in large distance from correct position. The aim of the thesis is to develop a method for verification of a position from geolocation database using delay measurement. Because of it, there is a detail analysis of influence of partial delays on the distance estimation accuracy, calculated using measured delay between the landmark and the target IP address. For the same reason, long-term delay measurement was performed, where the IP geolocation accuracy was compared using calibration data from previous measurements. On this background, Cable Length Based Geolocalisation (CLBG) method is proposed. Principle of this method is built on the properties of partial delays, which depend on the length of transport media. Firstly, the method measures round trip time (rtt), which is subsequently lowered by intermediate devices and end stations delay. The geographical distance is estimated using signal speed in the transport media. Further, the winding media parameter is established, which is used to determine a constraint around the landmark. The intersection of all constraints defines the area, where the target IP is. The IP geolocation using CLBG gives better results than simpler methods (ShortestPing, GeoPing and SOI), in comparison with more advanced methods (CBG and Octant) the accuracy is similar. The disadvantage of the CLBG method is the size of region, where the target lies, but this is due to its purpose. The position found in geolocation database can be checked by evaluation if it lies in the region.
Analysis of the causes and solutions proposed to tram transport delays from the transport and construction point of view
Kopecký, Vojtěch ; Svoboda, Richard (referee) ; Valehrach, Jan (advisor)
The thesis Analysis of the causes and solutions proposed to tram transport delays from the transport and construction point of view focuses on the issue of delays and speed drops in tram transport, especially on the causes of their occurrence and ways of their elimination. The thesis examines the current state of the Brno tram system, with a focus on the slowing elements in the system and the locations with frequent delays, including what causes these delays. The thesis also examines the possibilities of speeding up tram transport both from the point of view of transport and from the point of view of track layout. In the final part of the thesis, selected sections of the Brno tram system are analysed in more detail and on the basis of these analyses, measures are proposed that lead to the acceleration of tram transport and the elimination of delays that occur in it.
Network tester
Štainer, Martin ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
The objective of this thesis is the issue of network parameters measuring. Measurement methodology and tester concept were designed. Based on the designed tester concept a plugin for Apache JMeter was implemented. Two experimental tests were run based on the methodology designed, with their objectives set to explore the difference in performance between QUIC and TCP protocols.
