Biodegradable Waste: School Project for Lower Secondary School
Dvořáková, Kateřina ; Pavlasová, Lenka (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
The proper way to manage biological waste has only recently become a topic of discussion and the public still does not have enough information about it and does not have a comprehensive opinion. In order for bio-waste to be properly managed, knowledge of this topic and positive attitude towards it is necessary, in class this could be achieved by activating pupils through project based education. Teaching in projects is a great way to understand the issue, which can influence pupils' attitudes towards bio-waste management. The aim of this diploma thesis is to create a project on the topic of biodegradable waste, and then to find out how the knowledge and opinions of students about bio-waste have changed. The created project was verified at the lower secondary school, for which it is primarily intended. A total of 54 6th-year pupils was involved in this project. They were given a pretest before the start of the project, finding out the initial knowledge about bio-waste and their opinion on the classification of bio-waste. After the project, the pupils completed a posttest and by comparing the individual answers, it was determined whether and how the knowledge of the tested pupils and their attitude towards the topic changed. The answers of individual pupils in the pretest and posttest were evaluated...
Vliv vermikompostu na vybrané vlastnosti půdy a rostlin
Dvořáčková, Lucie
Soil is a fundamental source of terrestrial life. It will be more and more important source in the future. The soil is degradated, an organic matter is decreasing. The regular measure of quality humus, which is the basic factor of soil fertility is necessary for keeping quality properties of soil. One of the means of processing of biologically dissoluble wastes is the process of vermicomposting, when are earthworms used for the produce. The aim of this bachelor thesis was to broad the information about vermicomposting to the society, explain the diferences between composting and vermicomposting. Then is necessary to establish an experiment which has an important role in a comparising of selected physical and also chemical properties of soil and vermicompost and their consecutive combination. This experiment had to choose which of these enviroments would be more optimal for the plants and could provide them the best conditions for their growth and vegetation.

Návrh úpravy systému nakládání s odpadem v obci do 5000 obyvatel
Přikryl, Jan
The subject of the thesis is to propose a municipal waste management adjustment in the municipality Přibice. The first part of the thesis is concerned with legislative requirements related to the given issue. Following part of the thesis consists of an analysis of the current waste management situation of the municipality, its description and a draft of possible funds for financing the modification of the municipal waste management. Based on results of the analysis a waste-collection centre proposal for bulky waste, hazardous waste and e-waste is formulated aiming at choosing the appropriate number, size and time interval of the pick-up of collecting containers. Within the next step, an adjustment to handle biologically reducible waste by identifying suitable size and number of composters is formulated. In the end of the thesis there are presented current financial resources for making adjustments in the waste management system.

Možnosti využití vybraných bezobratlých v odpadovém hospodářství
Žáková, Markéta
Biodegradable waste (BDW) is most commonly processed by composting or anaerobic fermentation, but its composition is not always suitable for these procedures. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation thesis was to find out what possibilities and consequences of using Stratiomyidae Hermetia illucens (HI) in the waste management of the Czech Republic are. In order to meet the objectives of this thesis a total of 14 different types of waste has been selected. Plant tissue waste, kitchen waste, waste from soup kitchens, manure, poor quality and culled municipal biodegradable waste were found as the best types of waste for being reduced by HI larvae. Furthermore, it was found that Californian earthworm are more suitable for producing fertilizers, conversely HI are suitable for reducing BDW. The most favourable conditions for HI so that they are able to reduce waste are enclosed spaces with appropriate air temperatures. Presence of bacteria Salmonella was not detected in accordance with ČSN EN ISO 6579 in the reduced substrate. When measuring the concentration of heavy metals in larvae, in the input BDW, the remaining substrate and the larvae after consumption BDW and determining the bioaccumulation factor (BAF) for larvae HI fed by individual types of BDW, it was found that larvae that would be potential feed for livestock or hobby animals from the perspective of heavy metal content, would have to be fed by plant tissue waste or garden waste. The accumulation of antimony and cadmium occur particularly in larvae fed by separates from biogas plant (BPS), garden waste, plant material and poultry droppings. The final recommendation is to include HI larvae into the waste management system of the Czech republic, although in enclosed spaces.
