Cycling of selected metals in the environment.
Šebková, Michaela ; Diviš, Pavel (referee) ; Dočekalová, Hana (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with a group of selected metals (nickel, zinc, copper, cadmium and lead) in environmental components. It occupies with natural and anthropogenic inputs of metals to the atmosphere, the water und the soil and with their transport among them components. It engages too in a question of a penetration of metals to the biosphere and in their ensuant transport within the biosphere. At each metal is description of its natural sources, chemical and physical properties, inputs in environment, transport within the biosphere and positive and negative effects on living organism is described for each studied metal. The last chapter of this thesis deals with determination of selected metals in environmental components. It discribes procedures of determination from planning over sampling and processing of sample to the final determination of metals by instrumental methods.
Metal concentrations in urban aerosol in Brno and in exhaust fumes
Coufalík, Pavel ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Vojtíšek, M. ; Matoušek, Tomáš ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
Total metal concentrations in aerosol samples and exhaust fumes as well as the bioaccessibility of metals in simulated lung fluids were determined. The extraction in vitro seems not to be dependent on the surface tension of extraction solution.
Metals concentrations in urban aerosol and in exhaust emission
Coufalík, Pavel ; Mikuška, Pavel ; Křůmal, Kamil ; Vojtíšek, M. ; Matoušek, Tomáš ; Večeřa, Zbyněk
Total metals concentrations in aerosol samples and exhaust fumes as well as the bioaccessible proportions of metals were determined. The bioaccessibility of metals in vitro should be assessed according to the extraction in simulated lung fluids with a low surface tension.
Comparison of ecotoxicity and persistent organic pollutant bioavailability in real contaminated soil, using selective supercritical fluid extraction (SFE)
Čvančarová, Monika ; Křesinová, Zdena ; Cajthaml, Tomáš
The amount of bioavailable polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in contaminated soil was estimated using Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE). The toxicity of contaminated soil was determinated using different organisms: earthworms Eisenia fetida, duckweed Lemna minor, crustacean Heterocypris incongruens, bioluminiscent bacterium Vibrio fischeri and worms Enchytraeus crypticus. There was a different amount of bioavailable fraction in each soil. There was close relationship between ecotoxicity and bioavailability in PAHs contaminated soil
Characterization of soils by the DGT technique
Dočekal, Bohumil ; Smetková, V. ; Dočekalová, H.
The DGT measurement (Diffusive Gradients in Thin films technique) reflects metal ion concentrations in the soil solution, the rate of re-supply from soil to solution and the transport rate of metal ions through the soil. DGT is likely to provide a good surrogate of the bioavailable pool of metals in soils.
