Thesis focuses on available resources focused on protection of the environment, mainly those connected with waste management. The case study of Nehlsen Třinec, s.r.o. company is the part of thesis as well. It results in suggestion of improvement of investment in the company. Detailed analysis of the company is a base of this study.
Evaluation of Power Efficiency of Radioactive Waste Management Technologies Used in the Czech Republic
Penzinger, Pavel ; Varmuža, Jan (referee) ; Katovský, Karel (advisor)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of power efficiency of technologies for the radioactive waste management used in the Czech Republic. Thesis is divided into two main parts – theoretical part and a practical part. Theoretical part of the thesis deals with a brief description of the organization connected with radioactive waste operating in the Czech Republic and storage of low and intermediate level waste in the Czech Republic. This is followed by various kinds of radioactive waste division according to Czech legislation and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency. There is also a description of the most used technologies and methods o of radioactive waste management technology used in the Czech Republic and world. Practical part contains specific evaluation of energy efficiency of each technology for the radioactive waste management. Each evaluation contains the energy efficiency of production use materials and transport. Evaluates are technologies used consistently and for sufficient quantities. Energy efficiency is describe from the place of origin of radioactive waste, which is the Nuclear power plant Dukovany, Nuclear power plant Temelín and ÚJV Řež, a.s. The end of description is the repository site of radioactive waste Dukovany for radioactive waste from nuclear power plants or disposal site Richard for institutional radioactive waste.
The Evaluation of Externalities
Maselli, Lukáš ; Jandová, Štěpánka (referee) ; Jandová, Štěpánka (referee) ; Luňáček, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is aimed at the evaluation of externalities, otherwise called side impacts, which have a direct or indirect influence on the decisions and actions of affected individuals caused by additional and undeserved revenues or expenses. This thesis describes different types of externalities, their influence on a certain market, possible solutions and lastly evaluates a specific externality affecting the city Brno while simultaneously offering a method how to limit these external costs.
Municipal waste management in the context of the new Czech Waste Act
Kudela, Petr ; Pluskal, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kropáč, Jiří (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is the analysis of mass flows in municipal waste management in the Czech Republic and the preceding research of legislative documents related to the area of waste management with an emphasis on monitoring the legislative development of currently valid legislative documents in the legal area of the Czech Republic. As part of the description of the current state of waste treatment, a list of waste treatment facilities in operation was drawn up. Statistical data on waste production by municipalities in the Czech Republic and an estimate of the change in the financial requirements for waste collection and collection in connection with the legislative pressure to increase the share of separately separated components in municipal waste were prepared.
Integration of material and energy utilization of sewage sludge
Zakov, Tomáš ; Brummer, Vladimír (referee) ; Krišpín, Jan (advisor)
This master thesis deals in first part with options and trends on field of municipal sewage sludge management. Further thesis describes legislation in relation with sewage sludge and its incineration in European union and also in Czech republic. Second part of thesis deals with design of mechanism for material and energetic use of sludge. In design is progressively processed chioce of aparates and material and energetic balance. This data are further used for mechine technical solution of the unit. Disposition of the unit is done acording to chosen and calculated parameter of chosen aparates. Economical evaluate of project if based on investment and operation costs and capacity design of unit in the end of thesis.
Household waste transport
Gal, Pavel ; Frýba, Lukáš (referee) ; Pavlas, Martin (advisor)
Bachelor's thesis deals with issue of collection of mixed municipal waste to waste-to-energy. The main part is aimed to transportation of waste using rail freight or road freight transport. It shows the advantages of rail transport and compares transport in term of emissions and economy. The final chapter deals with preparation data for optimization problem and visualization of them using software ArcGIS.
Proposal for the Usage of the Waste Generated in a Production Plant
Štefková, Michaela ; Pavláková Dočekalová, Marie (referee) ; Kocmanová, Alena (advisor)
The diploma thesis focuses on the ways of waste management in an industrial enterprise and the possibilities for its improvement in terms of the waste management hierarchy. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the sustainable development of the company, environmental management systems, as well as state environmental policy. The thesis also describes the legislative framework relating to waste management and defines the rights and obligations relating to the generation, management, manipulation and treatment, and disposal of waste. The own part of the thesis discusses the current situation in the field of waste management, which has been analysed for the purposes of work. Based on this information, a method of waste management is proposed in the last part.
Systematic approach for medical waste-to-energy processing
Hanus, Jan ; Krejčí, Tomáš (referee) ; Krňávek, Martin (advisor)
This master thesis deals with the current situation of medical waste management in the Czech Republic and available medical waste treatment methods. The first part summarises the legislation of waste treatment and contains an analysis of the current situation of medical waste management in the Czech Republic and comparison to the situation in the European Union. The second part describes medical waste treatment methods and following technologies for energy utilization when thermal treatment method is applied. In the main part of this thesis, a complex medical waste-to-energy system in a model region is designed according to the input data. The design includes description of the collecting and transportation system of the waste, capacity of the unit and suitable thermal treatment and heat utilization technology choice. A calculation model is created for the proposed unit and based on this model, an analysis on energy utilization effectivity is made. As a result of the thesis, environmental, technical and economical assessment is created based on the estimation of the investment and operating costs.
Secondary raw materials production from municipal waste
Kouřil, Čeněk ; Gregor, Jiří (referee) ; Kropáč, Jiří (advisor)
The main purpose of the bachelor thesis is to give an overview of the current system of municipal waste management and to demonstrate its techno-economical demands. To solve these objectives, an analysis of the current state in Czech Republic was carried out and a calculation tool was created to evaluate the overall techno-economical balance of the management system at the regional level. The results of the tool showed that it is expensive for municipalities to carry out waste management activities and would not be feasible without complex subsidies. The reader gets a basic overview of the current waste management system in Czech Republic and acquires knowledge of its partial techno-economical costs.
Determination of the carbon footprint of different waste treatment techniques
Suchomel, Ondřej ; Linda, Jakub (referee) ; Köbölová, Klaudia (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis focuses on the issue of waste treatment, waste management and carbon footprint. The aim of this thesis is to understand the complexity of these industries and propose a plan for the city of Brno based on the research done. The first theoretical part explains the benefits of circular economy and waste analysis in Czech Republic. The ensuing part describes the process of carbon footprint calculation and presents its advantages and disadvantages of carbon footprint. The two following theoretical sections discuss the methods and possibilities of waste treatment by conventional and modern methods. Last part of this thesis is a computational design and offers a waste processing proposal for the city of Brno. This thesis predominantly addresses the advantages and disadvantages of composting and anaerobic digestion for biowaste processing. A practical use of these technologies has been proposed based on the calculations.
