Design of Balanced Scorecard information system

This thesis is about Balanced Scorecard methodology and about information systems that support Balanced Scorecard in business. The main goals for the thesis are creating a design of Balanced Scorecard for an existing company and then design a BSC information system for this company. Business strategy management is introduced in the beginning of the theoretical part of this thesis. The description of each perspective of Balanced Scorecard follows. There is also a focus on BSC and strategy modifications over the time and one chapter is devoted to metrics, different types of metrics and relationships between them. Application part introduces the company used in the thesis. Based on the knowledge from the theoretical part the Balanced Scorecard is designed for this specific company and then an information system design is created.

The aim of this thesis was to prepare an analysis of the business environment and companie tranding in goods and products for dental hygiene. The operational objective was to assess the development of business opportunities in this field, focusing on short-term and long-term prosperity of the business and possibly adjust the current business strategy. In preparing the analyzes, it was found that the company hadn´t developed a strategy, but it only works with the visions, both in the market, property, economy and human resources. The proposed new strategy is a combination of market-oriented strategy and customer oriented strategy.

Part of this work was devoted to SWOT analysis or financial analysis. There is basic overview of absolute, ratio and distance economic roadsings. In this work two projects were considered in reason to improve economic results of ana-lyzed firm.

The Diploma thesis called ?Analysis of a Selected Business Firm and Future Development Suggestion? deals with the theory and practice of business management strategy. The theoretical part defines general procedure of business strategy and management, which is the basis for strategic plan creation. The practical part describes an actual well-established medium enterprise, presents a complex analysis of external environment, or its surroundings, and internal environment, or its internal sources and abilities. A SWOT analysis is realized based on the facts consequent upon the enterprise analysis. Thus we can compare the existing strategy and plans of the enterprise to the suggested solution.

In this work through external analysis, internal analysis, analysis of industry and competitor analysis are described in detail and set out the problem areas. The work experience part summarizes the theoretical and methodological analyses and applies them to analyze the actual internal and external strategy of the company. Based on the results the SWOT analysis is provided. The conclusion is the recap of the results of all analyses and suggestion for the most effective strategy for the company.
