Political parties are an integral part of the modern democracy. However, people hardly ever have an idea about the internal mechanisms within them. The goal of this work is the evaluation of an intra-party democracy of the two biggest Czech parties -- the Civil Democratic Party and the Czech Social Democratic Party. This work is divided into two chapters. The first chapter deals with the political parties themselves -- the definition of basic terms, functions and role of the political parties, typology of political parties and also the issue of the intra-party democracy. In the second chapter the parties are briefly introduced. Next subchapters analyse aspects according to which the levels of the intra-party democracy can be meassured. After this, the comparation of both parties is made. In the conclusion all the results are summarized and evaluated.
