Sound Design: Walter Murch

Walter Murch is a film sound designer and editor who introduced the term "Sound Design". His filmography is full of legendary movies such as The Godfather, Apo- calypse Now, THX1138 etc. This text analyses the sound design of the movies he had worked on and the work of Walter Murch in general. Murch also invented the worldizing technology, became well known for his creative work with film music, and was one of the pioneers of multichannel sound. More space is dedicated to the explanation of the term Sound Design, its origins, development and current meaning. Video clips on the enclosed DVD demonstrate Murch`s artistic and storytelling style.

Estonian animation part 1.

This bachelor thesis is about history of estonian animation. First chapter concerns with the protoanimation of Estonia. Second and third are about foundation of first departments of animation in Tallinnfilm studio, called Nukufilm and Joonisfilm. It describes film production of directors Elbert Tuganov, Arvo Pars, Rein Raamat and Avo Paistik, who made films in era of Soviet Union. Fourth part of thesis describe generation of directors, who works in Nukufilm studio from 80's until now - Rao Heidmets, Kalju Kivi, Hardi Volmer And Riho Unt. Joonisfilm and main directors Mati Kütt, Janno Põldma and Heiki Ernits it is subjekt of fifth chapter. It also concerns of their film production from 80's until now. The last chapter describes Priit Pärn the greathes figure of estonian animation, his life and creation.

Visual effects - The use of digital effects in the film making from the production point of view

Visual effects are getting more and more space in international and as well in Czech cinematography. Therefore, it´s description and explanation from production point of view became the main topic of this work. Main emphasis is being put on the recency of the information (visual efects are one of the fastest evolving disciplineú and on providing useful information, which the author gained when working on production of films which use plenty of visual effects.

Comparison of Creation Process of Film and Theatrical Liturgical Costume with Regard to Local Historiography.

The thesis compares the creation process of film and theatrical liturgical costume with regard to local historiography. In the theoretical part, terms as film, theater and photography are defined; further the circumstances of shaping a dramatic figure are described. Adriena Šimotová, Ester Krumbachová and Ivan Pinkava are mentioned as my inspiration sources. In the practical part I describe implementation procedures of the following projects: Costume as Memory of a Space, Body as its Imprint, Maria stock, Skoky - Layers, I, Olga Hepnarová and the factors which affected and shaped my work.

Marketing Communication of Film Festival in Practice

The basis of this work is theoretical description of marketing communication and its tools, followed by the interpretation and analysis of marketing communications Film Festival Mezipatra. I apply the communication mechanisms and theory on practices of film festival and I shoe concrete examples how the festival works with it. The work monitors the need to adapt marketing practices in the nonprofit environment, the ability to target individual tools to the target audience and it?s effectiveness in achieving the stated goals. An important part of the work is the concept of corporate identity, which significantly affects the form of marketing communications in general, not only in the nonprofit sector.

Theremin - emotions in movies

This thesis trys to figure out in which way is used the sound of theremin in film music. After the historical introduction and physical basics of principals which allow functioning of theremin, follow the analysis of three movies from the 40s. and 50s. which use the sound of theremin for explications of concrete emotion. However, it shows up, that this films create a new cliche from the sound of theremin and it would be difficult to overcome it; therefor, the next chapter looks for another creators who use theremin in a different way a recreate the conotation of it. At the conclusion is a short outline of following development of theremin.

Tereza Jindrová: Rudolf Němec - imprint, silhouette, grid Abstract This Bachelor's dissertation deals with the work of painter Rudolf Němec (born 19. 5. 1936). It is focused on his work in a period from the middle of The Sixties to the end of The Eighties and it observes the works of painting, the works on paper and other experiments using different medias (photography, film, instalation, performance). The dissertation provides a deeper insight into the work of Rudolf Němec throught formal and content interpretation and it put his work into context ot the new figuration.

The reflection of German cinematography in the Czech film press 1936-1939

Bachelor thesis "Reflection of German cinematography in selected Czech film periodicals from 1936 till March 1939" records in what way Czech film periodicals reacted to the development and changes of the German cinematography in context of political and social transformations both nations underwent during the above-mentioned period. The thesis focuses on whether the film periodicals changed the way they reflected German cinematography during the period of escalating Nazi aggression towards Czechoslovakia and especially in the situation after the acceptance of Munich Agreement. The opening section covers broader historical and media context of Czechoslovakia in the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The next part describes and characterizes analysed film periodicals, weekly Kinorevue, Filmový kurýr and biweekly Filmové listy. Separate chapter is focused on German cinematography from its development during the period of mute films, throughout the changes caused by the introduction of audio films, until the German film industry was put under state control by Hitler and the film was used as a tool of Nazi propaganda. Thesis consists of the parts devoted to the history, essential information about special effects techniques and to the comparison and analysis of CGI and practical effects.

Figure and the Possibilities of its Dimensions

Tereza Hrabánková, University of South Bohemia, Faculty of Education, Department of Art, thesis Figura and possibilities of its dimension, supervisor Dr.Dominika Sládková. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical section considers the display of human figures in the visual arts during the Middle Ages, explores the most important figurative artists engaged in creation and their works and provides information about the dimension figures in terms of its size and proportional relationships. The theoretical part also deals with the history of videoart in Bohemia and videoart with a focus on animated movie. Also briefly describes the history of art and the method of displaying the human figure in children. The practical part deals with the history of art education in the Czech scene, with a focus on animation. The final work consists of a series of drawings and paintings, from which then created a short animated film, which will aim to familiarize students with basic art schools proportional patterns of human figures.
