Annotation: Málková, Eva. Church Music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Prague: Hussite Theological Faculty, Charles University, 2012. Thesis. The aim of this thesis is to introduce church music of Johann Sebastian Bach and its theological announcement. By looking up and appraising musical-theological elements at Bach's work this thesis brings near to the reader the theological, philosophical and mystic thinking of Bach. By pre-understanding and complexity of perception of Bach's church music is possible to see deep sense and aim of artist's work. In the first (theoretical) part I am engaged in systems of thinking that could Bach's church work influence. Then I am specifying the pieces that are supposed to be church music. In the second (practical) part I am looking for musical- theological elements that could Bach be influenced with. By researching of Bach's artistic style I am trying to find correlation of musical and theological contents and I am trying to point out that the message of Bach's church work is relevant.

Determinants of Changes in Volume and Structure of Municipal Expenditures
KANOVOVÁ, Lucie
This thesis is divided into several sections the first section deals with aggregate data about the amount, dynamic and structure of municipal expenditures and the second section is focused on determinants which influence the amount and dynamic of municipal expenditures. In this thesis there is operated with data from years 2001-2013. In the first part of practical part there were used all municipalities which existed in 2001-2013; in the second part there were used 6 236 municipalities in the Czech Republic. Expenditures were grouped into several expenditure areas according to types and then also according to lines. It has been found out 17 determinants which could influence municipal expenditures. Relations between the explained variable (individual expenditure areas of municipalities) and explanatory variables (individual determi-nants) have been determined by using analysis of panel data (random effects model). It has been found out that municipal expenditures are influenced mainly by: jurisdiction of the municipality to a certain region, scope of delegated powers of municipalities, years of elections to municipal councils, existence of allowance organization or legal entity, population density of the municipality, built-up area of the municipality and the number of children and pupils at schools which were set up by municipalities.

Anti-adhesive activity of bovine whey oligosaccharides against Neisseria meningitis
Oligosacharidy a glykokonjugáty izolované z kravského a mateřského mléka prokázaly antiadhesivní účinky proti mnoho patogenům, stejně tak i proti N. meningitidis.

Narrative Memory
Čermák, Ivo
The paper is focused on relations between an autobiographical memory and a narrative self. The author explains how narrative reasoning configures and refigures our incoherent experience, how it constructs language and order of the story, how this kind of reasoning helps to create meaning of the life-story events. He tentatatively conceptualizes a narrative memory and narrative memories which form and content enables this memories to be retrieved as a story or its sequences. The story-telling is conceived as an act of imagination, which is necessarily involved in the process of personal identity construction. Autobiographical and narrative memory is precondition of this process. The study is also an attempt to differ narrative and autobiographical memory.

Changes of physical, functional and social structure of the city as a result of the group of variously interrelated changes and events that are fundamentally participate in the formation of the image of the urban development. This doctoral thesis is based on research of the historical city center - squared. First part is focuses on the historical development of urban texture of the inner city of Brno and its squares. We are talking about Square of Freedom, Vegetable Market, Dominican square, Jacobs square, Capuchins square and Šilingrovo square. Based on individual characteristics, describing the emergence of morphological and functional changes in Brno square was created urban classification of basic types of square. City of Brno, as the capital city of region has a significant position in the structure of settlements. This fact has become one of the key aspects for the selection of examples of European cities and their squares. The second part of the thesis is based on comparative studies of different types of historical squares. In order to define the value of public spaces, it is necessary to look at the public places of historical perspective and deal with the causes that led to the decline of the importance and role of public spaces. Austrian capital cities of region (Graz, Linz, Klagenfurt and Salzburg) will be examined with regard to similar climatic conditions and a common cultural and historical context of the city. Based on urban patterns and graphic diagrams of each square are observed inner relationships between shapes of square, form, function and location of the position of an artwork. Research areas are also focused on comparing aspects of transport, green space, functional use, visual unit and social activities. The public space is shaped by a set of characteristics that promote diversity and interdependence of functions. For a better interpretation of the results have been established two benchmarks - symbol of identification with the place and the Magnet (function and filling space). The objective of the thesis is to define an aspects and elements of space which were involved in square use.

Influence of type of base sand on strength of geopolymer sand mixture
Kudr, Martin ; Šupálek, Milan (referee) ; Cupák, Petr (advisor)
The goal of this research is to find out the effect of different types of opening material on bending strength geopolymer’s moulding mixture. Four different silical opening material were used along with two types of binder. To solve the selected problem I have used the test of bending strength. At first I have prepared the moulding mixture and after its induration, I have tested the bending strength. The times were always the same 60, 120 and 1440 minutes. The highest level of bending strength was achieved at opening material SH-34 when using binder Geopol 618. The value of bending strength level was 0,881MPa. The results of this research could help the foundries during implementing technology of geopolymer moulding mixture, which would help particulary when looking for a proper opening material.

Nippon re-discovered. The image of Japan in central European modernism 1920-1940
Čapková, Helena ; Švácha, Rostislav (referee) ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor)
Japanese influence on Europe was particularly strong in the period of japonism, which is widely pinned down and limited to the second half of 19th century. However, this Japanese vogue transformed into a sophisticated knowledge and admiration for Japanese art, philosophy and everyday life by the interwar period. This transformation happened within a framework of international modernity and is a subject of this text. What is the Japanese element in modernism that alludes its latent japaneseness? I argue that it is a symptom of Japanese aesthetics that deeply rooted into common consciousness by the time between the wars. The geographic focus of this paper is on Central Europe and Japan. Japanese art scene has been an active participant of international art debates since the beginning of 20th century. This dynamic situation in Japan played a crucial role in seeking the history and unique face of modernism. Many prominent artists took part in this process including the ones for Central Europe. Therefore, few case studies will be included, such as on Johannes Itten, Bedřich Feuerstein and Bruno Taut.
