Coeliac disease and gluten-free diet
Sejkorová, Tereza ; Pohlová, Andrea (advisor) ; Kotalová, Radana (referee)
Co liac disease is an auto-immune disease, which means that the body produces antibodies that attack its own tissues. For people with coeliac disease this attack is triggered by gluten, a protein found in wheat, rye and barley. This gluten-intolerance causes an inflammatory response that damages the gut. When the gut lining is damaged, the body cannot absorb a11 the n cessary nutrients from food. Because of this lack of nutrients, people with undiagnosed coeliac disease can have a wide range of symptoms and can suffer from nu tritional deficiencies. The symptoms are v ry individual but can include stomach and bowel symptoms, tiredness, anaemia, diarrhoea, abdominal discomfort, weight loss and vomiting, so it can take some hrne before an accu rate diagnosis is sought. Both adults and children can have this disease. There is evidence to suggest that the p revalence of coeliac disease is 1 in 200-300 people in The Czech republic. The most people with this disease is found in Europe and USA, in Africa and A ia the disease occurs very far ly. The only treatment is to be on a gluten-free diet for alllife. In this thesis I tried to find out how much the restaurant facilities in Liberec region pay a ttention to a gluten-free diet. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

International Context of the Mediterranean Union Project
Vincentová, Romana ; Eichler, Jan (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
This work focuses on the Mediterranean Union project proposed by Nicolas Sarkozy during the French presidential campaign in 2007. It represents a comprehensive portrayal of the Mediterranean region which has been due to its unique characteristics the center of attention of various international parties involved. These have been trying to take advantage of the Mediterranean Sea potential namely since the end of the 20th century and, at the same time, to introduce stability by means of various integration groups and further projects of cooperation. The Barcelona Process was the most complex partnership project within the Mediterranean territory which was launched by the European Union in 1995. The Barcelona Process or the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership nevertheless has not brought any significant achievements, with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict being considered the greatest impediment to its success. The work stresses the significance of the new project of the Mediterranean Union, which should learn a lesson from all the previous and, in many aspects unsuccessful, integration efforts and try to find a different way which would lead to achieving stability and cooperation of the countries within the region. In 2008, the Union for the Mediterranean developed from the Mediterranean Union project, which should reassume within the most possible extent the Barcelona Process. At the same time, the new integration approach should not consist of setting general goals but of formulating specific goals and their gradual implementation, which could lead to the unity of the region in the end. Complex political issues, however, still pose the major threat today.

"Blitzkrieg" and total war. German military theory between World Wars

Psychosocial adaptation to paralysis after spinal cord impairment
Šámalová, Kateřina ; Kodymová, Pavla (advisor) ; Černá, Petra (referee)
Coping with life crisis situations and adapting to them is a topic of great human interest and importance. Sustaining a spinal cord injury with the consequent lifelong paralysis may be considered to be one of the most serious life events due to its devastating and wide-ranging impact on people's lives. Spinal cord injury is a traumatic injury, which typically occurs suddenly and without any warning. Its consequences present an enormous physical, social and psychological trauma which the individual has to confront and come to terms with. The changes caused are life-long and affect every aspect of a person's life. Paralysis leads to wheelchair dependence for mobility. In addition, the individual with a spinal cord impairment may become dependent on others for help and assistance in order to be able to carry out most of the tasks of daily living. All the losses and changes caused by the injury have profound effects on both the spinal cord injured person's social roles and those of their loved ones. The individual's and his/her family's psychosocial adaptation to spinal cord injury, which is the main theme of this work, involves an intricate adjustment process. Stage coping theory, which dominates the current scientific literature concerning coping with life crisis situations, is not sufficient for a...

The impact of the euro adoption on securities markets in the Czech Republic
Wartlik, Tomáš ; Brada, Jaroslav (advisor)
The acceptation of a single currency has an influencial impact on the economy of the country, especially on its financial market. This work examines all parts of finacial market of the Eurozone, assesses their state of development and compares it with the situation in the Czech Republic. The work also tries to estimate the impacts, that the acceptance of a single currency will bring to Czech financial market, and where it is possible, it uses the experience of Slovenia, which has adopted euro in 2007 and its economy is very similar to that of Czech Republic. The work finds out that the Eurozone has achieved a significant progress in the integration of its financial market, an improvement in its liquidity, costs of security issues and other aspects as well. Adoption of the euro in Slovenia has been successfull and it was not accompanied by substantial problems, except for an increase in inflation. However, the expected progress in the development of financial market is not observable yet, althought this fact may be attributed to many other external reasons, too. Finally the conslusion of this work implicates, that the Czech Republic has the oportunity to benefit from participating in a large integrated financal market and achieve a progress, that would never be possible if it remained separate.

Procedure of introducing Kofola brand onto the german market
