Evaluation of forest calamities using the remote sensing data Abstract The objective of this paper is to evaluate possibilities of medium-spatial resolution satellite data assimilation for monitoring of the forest disturbances. The aim of the study is to monitore the bark beetle outbreak in the Šumava Mountains. For this purpose were used eight MERIS scenes from 2002 to 2009. Spectral response of the damaged spruce stands has been analyzed on the based of the values of selected vegetation indices (NDVI, LAI, LAI.Cab, fCover, fAPAR and three newly defined indices) and their temporal progress. The results were compared with values for healthy forests. The values of spectral indices have shown the ability of data MERIS to monitor forest disturbances at regionale scale.

The use of olfactory capabilities of a dog to search for bark beetle affected trees in context to preventive protection of forests

Exceptional ability to smell dog in human activity are used for several centuries. The dog is trained for tracking , searching for drugs , weapons, ammunition , human remains , tobacco and money . Usability dog is recorded in the health sector , where the dog can identify the smell serious illness. Deploying a dog to search for forest pests , especially bark beetle was experimentally tested in several European countries , but they were always used the associated odors from the environment beetle . The aim of this thesis was to design and test the methodology in practice dog is trained to search the bark in the forest and to develop and test methodology for deploying the dog directly in the forest , provided that the dog will only identify the smell of bark Beatles. The training methodology and deployment methodology dog in practice aimed to demonstrate the dog's ability to identify the presence of bark beetle in the forest and bring cost-effective form of prevention inspections forest cover within the meaning of applicable legislation. The long-term verification specially trained dog was clearly proved that the dog is very well and quickly able to identify the bark in the forest , which is most at risk. At the same time training the dog to find the bark creating an efficient instrument for the implementation of preventive examinations of forests against bark beetle infestation in accordance with applicable legislation

In the second half of the last century, a decline of secondary spruce stands emerged to an increased extent. This fact is connected with incorrect species composition of woody plants, low resistance, gradual temperature increase and rainfall decrease, increased occurrence of insects and fungal pathogens. This theses aims to objectify causes of spruce decline in the Forestry District in Prostějov, the forest Lipina, the forest stands Zadní hory, to evaluate the impact of abiotic and biotic stress factors, to outline passibilities of damage reduction and prolongation of spruce existence in unsuitable localities provided that spruce cover is transformed into mixed cover.

The bachelor thesis compares the usual capturing device for (Ips typographus L.) in terms of economic efficiency on the number of captured beetles. The topic has been studied literature, compiled a literature review to assess the first ways of trapping bark beetles, and analyze the advantages and disadvantages of different variants of capture (SWOT analysis). On the basis of analysis were selected to meet the objectives of the two most common variants of capture - tree traps and pheromone traps for which was determined by the economic efficiency of capture based on observation and investigation variant of traps in one year and by comparing the type (Ips typographus L.).

Economic evaluation of damages caused by bark beetle on forest stand in the district of Stribrne Hute

The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the damage caused by bark beetle on forest stand in the district of Stribne Hute which is managed by Forest Management Tabor. Forest stands are being damaged by various harmful effects which reduce theirs ecological stability. The damage is defined as a reduction of utility value or as a damage caused by adverse effects. Spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus L.) is significant part of entomocenosis and it is being considered as the most serious pest of spruce stands. Data from 2007 - 2012 were processed, it consisted of bark beetle matter production records, evaluation of timber harvest (especially random harvest) and calculation of revenues. The price lists of average values of spruce logs KH and A/B quality was used to calculate revenues from bark beetle matter and standard quality. The comparison of revenues was used to determinate the loss caused by bark beetle. Losses were minimal due to the quantity of bark beetle which did not reach state of emergency.

Dynamika vývoje půdní fauny a dynamiky humusu v sukcesi ke klimaxovým smrčinám a bučinám Šumavy

Cílem řešení projektu je stanovit dynamiku vývoje biodiverzity společenstev vybraných skupin epigeonu a půdní meso- a makrofauny, změny v dekompozičních procesech a formách humusu v lesních ekosystémech NP Šumava ponechaných samovolnému vývoji v různě starých odumřelých smrčinách a na holosečných pasekách. Základním cílem projektu je zastavit pokles biologické rozmanitosti v půdě lesních ekosystémů. Bioindikátorem jsou ohrožené druhy a funkční skupiny půdní fauny a změny půdní mikrostruktury. Získané poznatky poslouží k návrhu nejvhodnějších opatření k obnově přirozených smrkových a smrko-bukových porostů na Šumavě. Popis odběru půdních vzorků a jejich extrakce v Tullgrenových a Kempsonových přístrojích a zemních pastích na srovnávaných plochách. Třídění a určování půdní fauny a epigeonu, chemické rozbory půd, zhotovování půdních výbrusů, vytváření databáze snímků společenstev půdní fauny a epigeonu.

Sledování dynamiky obnovy lesa v oblasti postižené kůrovcem v NP Šumava

Cílem projektu je zhodnocení spontánních procesů v oblasti lesa postiženého kůrovcem na území NP Šumava. V souboru trvalých výzkumných ploch je hodnocen vývoj půd, fytocenóz a lesních porostů na lokalitách s různou spontánní dynamikou a s různým managementem. V roce 2004 bylo provedeno průběžné hodnocení dynamiky přirozeného zmlazení na výzkumných plochách (VP), fytocenologické periodické snímkování na VP na LS Modrava a Plechý, průběžné vyhodnocení hydrické funkce lesa na třech sledovaných povodích. Zpráva popisuje množství a strukturu mrtvého dřeva a jeho význam pro obnovu lesa ve smrkovém horském lese v oblasti rezervace Trojmezní, strukturu a dynamiku horského smrkového lesa ve výškovém transektu na lokalitě Plechý, dynamiku rozpadu horského smrkového lesa ve výškovém transektu na lokalitě Velká Mokrůvka v bezzásahovém pásmu NP Šumava, zdravotní stav porostů, vyhodnocení spontánní obnovy porostů v letech 1998-2004, hydrickou funkci lesa, mykologický průzkum, stav lesních fytocenóz, stav lesních půd. Zpráva je doplněna přehledem publikací vzniklých v rámci řešení projektu, finančním vyúčtováním a tabulkovými výsledky fytocenologického výzkumu.
