Specifics of nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's disease in Alzheimercentrum
KREJČÍŘOVÁ, Martina
Alzheimer's dementia is a disease that results in complete decomposition of the patient personality. The number of patients who become ill with Alzheimer's dementia in the world is constantly increasing and nursing care for these patients is therefore becoming a hot topic. The objective of the bachelor?s thesis entitled ?The specifics of nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's disease in Alzheimercentrum? was to determine the specifics of nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's dementia along with the fact whether nursing professionals starting to work at the Alzheimercentrum are familiar with these specifics. The theoretical part deals with the causes and symptoms of various types of dementia and concrete specifics of nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's dementia and with dementia of another type, including differences in nursing care. The practical part took a form of quantitative research. The survey research was carried out using questionnaires, respondents being general nurses, nursing assistants and professional social workers starting to work at the Alzheimercentrum on devices Filipov, Zlosyň, Průhonice, Písek and Loucký Mlýn. The results were summarized into the graphs, the analysis of which confirmed the hypothesis No. 1: Nursing care for patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease is different from care for seniors with dementia of another type, and hypothesis No. 2: Nursing staff taking up the post of general nurse at Alzheimercentrum have knowledge of the specifics of the nursing care for demented patients. On the other hand, hypothesis No. 3: Nursing staff taking up the post of professional social worker at Alzheimercentrum have knowledge of the specifics of the nursing care of demented patients, was not confirmed. The outcomes of the research have shown that general nurses have satisfactory knowledge of nursing care for patients with dementia; unlike nursing assistants and professional social worker who lack this type of knowledge. Educational material based on these outcomes is going to be published; it shall make it easier for the nursing staff at Alzheimercentrum to understand the specifics of nursing care for patients with Alzheimer's dementia and dementia of another type. This material can also be used in trainings of nursing care for patients with dementia.
Care for persons with dementia (Alzheimer's disease) institutional and home care comparison (VČ region)
BOROVKOVÁ, Lucie
This Bachelor's Thesis is a comparative study of the possibilities of institutional and home care for persons suffering from dementia (Alzheimer's disease) and the resulting effect that each kind of care has on the patient. Through a content analysis of publishing resources, I drew up a theoretical part where I attempt to discuss the subject in question as comprehensibly as possible. My primary focus is on memory, the aging process, diagnostics, therapy and the specification of Alzheimer's disease. This is followed by a questionnaire aimed at comparing the two types of care through the survey method. I was mainly interested in the aspect of hygiene, opportunities of socialisation, communication and the free time activities of the patient. Each type of care is discussed separately before identifying the several similarities and differences. This also enabled me to determine the overall effect of the care on the patient and his satisfaction.

Kostomoiri, M. ; Zikos, C. ; Benaki, D. ; Slaninová, Jiřina ; Pirmettis, I. ; Papadopoulos, M. ; Pelecanou, M. ; Livaniou, E.
Colivelin is the most potent member of the humanin family of neuroprotective peptides with in vitro and in vivo action against insults associated with Alzeimer’s Disease. The mechanism of action of colivelin is not yet elucidated. The objective of the present study is the design and synthesis of specific colivelin derivatives that can be used as molecular probes in in vitro and in vivo biological experiments. In the frame of the study three colivelin derivatives bearing suitable tags, i.e the fluorescent moiety FITC, the 99mTc-radiometal chelating unit dimethylGly-Ser-Cys, and the streptavidin-counterpart biotinyl-group, were designed and synthesized. These derivatives will be used in in vitro cell component binding and in vivo biodistribution experiments, in order to gain better insight on the mode of the neuroprotective action of colivelin.

Heftiness of work nurses for patient with Alzheimer's disease
SALOTOVÁ, Jana
This diploma work focuses on demanding and important task of nurses care of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease. The problems of Alzheimer's disease represent socially serious and very important subject at present due to the fact that our generation is growing old, which will obviously result in increasing frequency of Alzheimer?s disease occurrence. This diploma work is divided in two parts: theoretical part and practical part. In the theoretical part there are causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis and therapy of Alzheimer?s disease. Furthermore there is a conceptual framework of nursing care applied to the patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease according to nursing model by Virginia Henderson. In addition to it burn out syndrome is mentioned here because due to the syndrome the nursing personnel is exposed to extreme psychic and physical load. The Alzheimer Programme Plan in the Czech Republic is presented in order to get better idea about activities in our country. In the practical part of this diploma work we laid down the following three objectives. The first objective was to ascertain exacting character of nursing work of the nurses taking care of the patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease. The second objective was to ascertain what is considered by nurses to be the most problematic area within the range of nursing care of the aforementioned patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease and the third objective of our research was to ascertain the contribution of specialised Alzheimer centres. The above-specified objectives have been fulfilled. In addition to it another research questions have been defined as follows: what is the level of exacting character of nursing work of the nurses taking care of the patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease, what do the nurses see as the most problematic area within the range of nursing care of the aforementioned patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease within the range of nursing care, what is the contribution of specialised Alzheimer centres and what nursing care should be provided in the specialised Alzheimer centres. The research questions have been answered. For the purpose of the development of this diploma work a qualitative examination has been used. Data acquisition and collection have been performed by applying the method of non-standard structured interview. The research work took place in Psychiatric Ward of the Hospital of České Budějovice a.s. (Joint stock company), in Alzheimer Centre named Loucký Mlýn near the town of Vodňany and in Alzheimer Centre in the town of Písek, and in Home of Old People in the village of Dobrá Voda. The answers of the interviewed nurses have been worked out in the form of sixteen case reports and subsequently category matrices (tables) containing the most important data were created from the aforementioned reports. The examination took place in the time period from March 2011 to June 2011. The results of our work could serve as a feedback for hospitals and sanatoria first of all for those where the examinations took place. Furthermore the results may be used for keeping public informed about the possibilities of helping patients suffering from Alzheimer?s disease e.g. in the form of information booklet.

Health and Social Problems of Alzheimers Disease in the District Jihlava
VESELÁ, Hana
A theoretical part of the thesis is focused on Alzheimer´s disease (hereinafter only AD), its development, diagnosis and treatment. It describes communication problems with a person with dementia. It is also focused on a family caregiver and social services which are available for persons with AD. One objective was defined for the practical part. The aim of the thesis was to describe health and social care of people with AD in the district of Jihlava. A partial objective was to chart problems which lay caregivers, caring of a person with AD at home, fumble with. To realize the research I used an interviewing method and a technique of a semi-structured interview at six caregivers who care of a person with AD in the district of Jihlava and a method of a document analysis, a technique of a secondary data analysis. The research was carried out in the period from 20th January to 4th March, 2011 in caregivers´ households from the district of Jihlava. During interviews with respondents their anonymity was preserved. There was found out that 4 of 6 caregivers live in a common household with the person with AD from the analysed and evaluated interviews. All interviewed caregivers underestimated early symptoms of AD and confused them with symptoms of physiologic ageing. 5 of 6 caregivers do not know the Czech Alzheimer Society. All interviewed caregivers indicate the caregiver´s mental stress as the most difficult thing in the care of the person with AD. There was created a table of facilities providing residential health and social services for persons with AD in the region of Vysočina within the secondary data analysis. The bachelor thesis will serve as a basis for Diaconate ECBB in Myslibořice for a consultancy provided in an area of the residential health and social services in the region of Vysočina. The thesis could be used as a basis for a preparation of a community plan of the social services in the region of Vysočina.
Comprehensive care of person with Alzheimer's disease
ŘEHOŘOVÁ, Andrea
The thesis deals with the comprehensive care for a person with Alzheimer`s disease. As the population gets old, also the number of people with Alzheimer{\crq}s disease has been growing. Pursuant the survey, approx. 5 % population in the age of 65 years suffers from the middle up to high degree of dementia; thereof the Alzheimer{\crq}s disease represents 50{--}60 %. Its frequency roughly doubles every five years. Alzheimer{\crq}s disease is approximately the fourth most frequent cause of all the death cases. The main goals is to find out the extent of knowledge of lay public about Alzheimer{\crq}s disease in the South Bohemian region. Hereby we mean the information about the care, possibilities of healing, symptoms and prevention of Alzheimer{\crq}s disease. In connection with these goals the H1 hypothesis was postulated: The lay public was informed of Alzheimer{\crq}s disease. For achieving the given goal, the method of questioning, the technology of the questionnaire was used. 280 questionnaires were distributed among the persons older than 18 years and they were returned in 86 %. In total, 241 questionnaires were filled in, thereof 230 were filled in correctly and also evaluated. As the most important questions for confirming or not confirming the hypothesis the author determined questions concerning the knowledge of the AD treatment, AD symptoms, knowledge of facilities, consulting centre as well as other activities for the people with AD, occurrence of AD and forms of treatment. It followed from the results that H1 hypothesis was not confirmed. Two partial targets were postulated for the given issue for the completeness sake. The first partial target was to describe the medically social issue of Alzheimer{\crq}s disease including its impact on all the spheres of the life of man: i.e. biological, psychological as well as social spheres. The second partial goal concerned the survey of services for persons with Alzheimer{\crq}s disease and their families in the South Bohemian Region. This thesis may be utilized in future as source of information about Alzheimer{\crq}s disease for the students of Faculty of Health and Social Studies in České Budějovice and for persons from the lay public who would like to learn more of Alzheimer{\crq}s disease.
