Mechanizmy vzniku rezistence vůči platinovým cytostatikům
Bouška, Petr ; Štaud, František (referee) ; Čečková, Martina (advisor)
1. Abstract Although the first platinum drug cisplatin was initially described in 1845, its biological activity was discovered more than 100 years later. Since then are cisplatin and its clinically used analogues carboplatin and oxaliplatin in widespread use for the treatment of variety of human cancers, including ovarian, cervical, head and neck tumors, non-small cell lung, breast, colon, gastric and renal cell carcinoma, sarcoma and relapsed lymphoma. However, the treatment is often accompanied by severe side effects of which nephrotoxicity, peripheral neurotoxicity and myelosuppression are the most serious. Another important obstacle in their clinical use is drug resistance. This thesis evaluates possible mechanisms of the development of platinum drugs resistance. There is a variety of them and they include (i) diminished accumulation of platinum drugs affected by influx transporters (Aquaporin 9, CTR1, OCT1, OCT2) and by efflux transporters (ATP7A, ATP7B,ABCG2); (ii) increased detoxification of drug by thiols glutathione and metallothionein; (iii) improved repair of nuclear lesions affected by NER, MMR, Homologous recombination, and enhanced tolerance to nuclear lesions caused by Replicative bypass, inhibition of pro-apoptic factors (including caspase-3, -8, Fas and other), or by overexpression of...

Importance of forest continuity and fragmentation according to beetles as an indicating taxonomic group
Loskotová, Tereza ; Treml, Václav (referee) ; Romportl, Dušan (advisor)
Importance of forest continuity and fragmentation according to beetles as an indicating taxonomic group Abstract Old-growth forests can provide suitable habitats for certain organisms which can't live in another type of environment. These organisms can be used as bioindicators of old-growth forests. Spatial organization of forests affects spatial distribution and population abundance of these organisms. Fragmentation process can negatively influence populations of forest organisms. In particular, the aim of this work was to locate areas with forest continuity within the area of interest and to characterize their spatial arrangement. Long-term continuity of forests was identified using historical maps. Spatial distribution of forests is not equal. In the northern and north-eastern part of the area, there is a large forest complex while in the southern and south-western part of the area, there is lot of forest fragments with surrounding of agriculture fields. Next target was to select beetle group with potential bioindicators of forest continuity. Many beetle species live in forests and the group fulfills requirements for indicating groups. Saproxylic beetles were chosen as a crucial group for a subsequent study. Keywords: continuity, fragmentation, indicator, landscape structure, beetles

Categorial pastorship for politicians

Proofs for the Existence of God in Descartes' Principles of Philosophy
Křížek, Pavel ; Svoboda, David (advisor) ; Sousedík, Prokop (referee)
Proofs for the Existence of God in Descartes' Principles of Philosophy Summary In present bachelor's degree work, a short review of Descartes' arguments for the God's existence is given. After a brief explanation of the structure of Descartes' system and of the basic philosophical terms used by Descartes in his works, the fundamental role of arguments for the God's existence in developing of Descartes' system is described. This introduction makes the reader familiar with the subject of the present work; the individual versions of Descartes' arguments are presented in a concise form. Then the Priniciples' version of the arguments is shown in comparison with other versions, first of all, with that ones from Meditations. The ontological argument is attended and it's simplicity is noted, particularly in Principles. It is shown a close connection between Descartes and the scholastic tradition consisting in Descartes's using and developing of a unique, sophisticated solution of the traditional problem of relation between essence and existence of finite beings (the theory of rational distinction), extended by Descartes to the nonfinite substance as well. The effectiveness of this version of the ontological argument makes it, at least partly, resistant to a whole set of the most common objections including the...
