The second part of the thesis, the last three chapters which are dealing with current American foreign policy and its relations with other important states and regions, proved the expected results of the hypothesis. Janoušek, Filip ; Lahvička, Jiří (advisor) ; Čermáková, Klára (referee)
The main aim of my paper is to investigate the influence of the political system on sports achievements. I examine the difference between medal achievements of athletes from so called socialist countries with one ruling party and command economy and those from democratic countries with market economy in the following 5 major sport events in the period from 1949 to 2009: The Summer Olympic games, The Winter Olympic games, The World Championships in Athletics, The World Swimming Championships, The World Gymnastics Championships. In order to determine this influence, two models are used. The first is the basic model, which is similar to models widely used in existing works on this topic. The second is the model with dummy for countries, which uses fixed effects. This paper performs a detailed analysis of wide range of sports which makes it different from existing research. Using the two above mentioned models, the comparison of countries with similar GDP per capita shows, that socialist countries athletes obtained more medals that those from democratic countries. The difference was 1.8 -- 3.7 percentage points from the total number of medals awarded for analyzed period of time.

Marshall Plan and Czechoslovakia
Pazdera, Lukáš ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Stellner, František (referee)
This Bachelor Essay considers the topic of Czechoslovakia and The Marshall Plan. Its hypothesis is that it's one of the most important event of 20th century Czechoslovakian history, which influenced postwar development and heralded the coming to power of the communists in 1948. Another important element is the change in international politics, which was the beginning of the Cold War's emergence of bad relations between the two great powers, the United States of America and the Soviet Union. Important roles were also played by other changes in the postwar development of Czechoslovakia, such as the expulsion of the Germans, land and currency reform, or the election in 1946. The main conclusion of the essay is that Czechoslovakia was not prepared with a clear concept of foreign policy and that negotiations about the Marshall Plan were only at the political level and lacked economic analysis. The key factor of the rejection of the Marshall Plan is considered to be the excessive trust in the foreign policies of the Soviet Union and the Czechoslovakian alliance with it.
