FDI Inflows to Africa with Emphasis on China as an Investor

The bachelor thesis deals with the inflows of foreign direct investments to the African Continent and above all it concentrates on the impact of China's action in Africa. In the first part of this work, basic concepts in the field of foreign investments are defined, the second part analyses the inflows of foreign direct investments to Africa and the last part concentrates on investments from China. The thesis then specifies the causes and consequences of China's engagement in African countries and the advantages or disadvantages arising from this relationship. The thesis is intended for the students of undergraduate studies or other people who are interested in foreign direct investment in the world. The key objective of this work is to identify changes related to the volume and structure of foreign direct investments in Africa and to describe main trends of their development.

Crocks of Safari -mosaic images, a diptych

My graduation thesis is called {\clq}qCrocks of Safari`` and it is divided into two main segments. The First part is theoretical which explains my inspiration, choice of theme and material, method of working - starting with design, ending with final artwork and its installation. It also considers the techniques of mosaic creation. It includes image documentation, which enriches and completes the text. The Second part is practical which includes its own graphic creation. That is two mosaic images made out of combined material {--} ceramics and glass (mirror) inserted into a metal frame. It features graphic structures and elements of an African fauna. It specifically interprets cut outs from herd of zebras and their typical stripes. My goal was to create abstract images where you can feel the character of used material and harmony of natural structures.

New material from Kenya, Senegal and Sudan was studied and we belong to 17 species in 8 orders - Amirthalingamia macracantha (Joyeux et Baer, 1935) Bray, 1974; Anomotaenia riccii (Fuhrmann et Baer, 1943) Baer et Bona, 1960; Cyclustera magna (Baer, 1959) Bona, 1975; Cyclustera sp.; Dendrouterina macrosphincter (Fuhrmann, 1909) Baer et Bona, 1960; Neogryporhynchus sp.; Paradilepis lloydi (Southwell, 1926) Spasski, 1954; Paradilepis maleki (Khalil, 1961); Paradilepis urceina Bona, 1975; Paradilepis urceus (Wedl, 1855) Joyeux et Baer, 1950; Parvitaenia macrocoleo Bona, 1975; Parvitaenia macropeos (Wedl, 1855) Baer et Bona, 1960; Parvitaenia megascolecina Bona, 1975; Parvitaenia purpurea Johri, 1959; Parvitaenia samfyia Mettrick, 1967; Valipora ardeolae (Singh, 1952) Baer et Bona, 1960 and Valipora mutabilis (Linton, 1927). Foreign Direct Investment Flows to Africa

This document deals with the flows of foreign direct investments (FDI) which flow into the African continent. It focuses mainly on the development in the 21st century. Preliminary the term foreign direct investment is defined and it is examined how important FDI are in developing countries and their impact on them. Then I describe the development of FDI inflows in the world and in the developing economies. I am also concerned with the development of the world's and African FDI outflows. Then the essay gives account of FDI inflows into the African countries. It mentions in which regions they tend to flow and which sectors they prefer. I name the most important investors and focus on the Asian developing countries. Attention is paid to the importance of intraafrican investments. In the last part the document describes the development of FDI political strategies and the determinants of the small African proportion on the world's FDI inflows and the measures to increase it.
Africa and its future in the global economy

The aim of this study is to evaluate current and future economic development of Africa. It is needed for an objective assessment to assess the historical context and development challenges that affect the development of the continent. The first chapter is focused on the socio-economic complex of the African states. The second chapter focuses on the obstacles of development. The third chapter focuses on contemporary factors that influence the development of Africa, including globalization and regionalism.
Portugal as an intermediary between the European Union and Africa

This bachelor essay deals with the interconnection of two traditional interests of Portuguese foreign policy and analyses the role of Portugal as an intermediary between Africa and the European Union. It defines at first three dimensions of Portuguese interests in Africa, which are the Portuguese speaking countries, Maghreb countries and "the rest of Africa". The second part examines activities of the Portuguese representatives during its three EU Presidencies and activities of the Portuguese members of the European Parliament, which are connected with African agenda. Finally, it inserts these activities in the broader context of EU policies towards Africa and by comparison of the first and second part it comes to conclusion that Portugal can be really denoted as an intermediary between Africa and the European Union.
The problems of economic development in African countries

This diploma thesis points to the barriers which impede backward African countries in economic development. It sees an imperfect institutional environment of the poor countries as a major issue. It outlines the problems on specific cases of Rwanda, Botswana and Kenya and it also suggests possible solutions for overcoming persisting poverty. The first chapter focuses on explanation of development theories and effectiveness of foreign aid. The next chapter regards economic development from the institutional point of view. Moreover, it presents the theoretical concept of property rights as the main factor of economic prosperity. The last theoretical chapter describes a role of government and its effect and effect of interest groups on the economy of particular country. The economic policy development of concrete African countries is discribed in analytical part of the thesis. In conclusion of the work the particular findings are summed up and furthemore, the certain solutions which should help to overcome big poverty in poor African countries are offered.
Business solution of poverty

The poverty is the common part of the human history. The majority of the world had to face the poverty during the time period and it was neccessary long time period for activation. Some countries solved the problem of poverty faster than others. Unfortunately, there are some countries, which still have to face poverty, espicially countries in Asia, South-America Countries and African countries. The goal of this study is explanation, why we have to face poverty in the 21 th century. This study tell us which factors help to find solution of the problem with poverty. I would like to focus espicially to poverty and providing education in African countries. The part of this study will be explanation how the education systems are created. I would like to get some information about the investment in education.
