Czechoslovak (Czech) Radio Broadcasting and Cultural Innovation

This thesis Czechoslovak (Czech) Radio Broadcasting and Cultural Innovation is designed as a cultural study of radio boradcasting development in years 1923 - 1999. Radio broadcasting development is interpreted as a process of cultural change. The aim of this thesis is to capture spreading innovation of the radio and describe the stages of this cultural change. The thesis is divided into two parts, a theoretical part and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines basic problems, deals with the theory of culture and media, the characteristics of radio communication. Particular attention is paid to description of the conditions affecting formation and development of the radio. The main focus of this work is to describe the radio development in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The second part is devoted to analysis of empirical data and sources, predominantly to secondary and historical analysis of accessible data regarding the radio. The major emphasis is placed on culturological interpretation of results of the analysis. This part also summarizes the importance of cultural innovation in terms of development of the Czechoslovak and Czech radio broadcasting. The concluding chapter deals with changes of this radio broadcasting.

Czech society and change in the concept of tattooing in the medium term

Anntotation This bachelor thesis deals with the change of perception and reception of tattoo and tattooing in the Czech society over the last aproximatelly thirty years. The turning point was the socio-political revolution in 1990s. The revolution has changed the perception of tattoos in the post-socialistic society and tattooing itself. In this respect, it points to the differences between the Czech Republic and the western Europe which are influenced by dynamic development and the perception of the visual aspect of tattoo changing through time. Contemporary tattoos are confronted with tattoos made by native cultures in parts of this thesis. Such comparison answers following question: Could a tattoo be a rite of passage or a record of an event etc. even today in our culture? The bachelor thesis mentions the problem of subcultures which are sometimes characterised by specific tattoo. To the contrary, tattoo can represent an effort to express one's individuality. The thesis answers following questions: What does a tattoo mean to its holder from a time distance? What was the reason for getting it? Last but not least motives and the age of getting the first tattoo are essential for research and for answering the questions mentioned above. Anotation: Špidlová, Z.: Clothing as a means for self-identification and self-representation and possible didactic applications of the theme in art education. (Attachements: Diary and file documenting the art part of diploma thesis) This thesis examines the phenomenon of clothing, its semiotic function in the context of postmodern society and social aspects with emphasis on identification with a particular social group. The research brings knowledge about two groups, their clothing and social contexts. The groups are the costume culture of the Alto Minho in Portugal and the goth subculture. The results of the research are directly connected to the art part, the output of which is a clothing model combining elements of both of these groups. Didactic section presents findings on the diversity of interpretation of students from the seventh grade of basic school and the second year of middle school when dealing with the topic of identity and subculture applied on clothing. Israeli Folk Dance:History and Presence with a Particular Focus on Dancing in the Czech Republic

This thesis intends to introduce Israeli folk dance from a number of different perspectives. In the first part, based on literature review, the author presents the origins of Israeli folk dances in Israel as well as their roots and the way they further function in a current Israeli society. Special attention is given to the problematic labeling of Israeli folk dance as "folk". The second part of the thesis is based on the author's own field work and describes the ways Israeli folk dances are practiced in the Czech environment. Whereas in Israel these dances are mostly connected with demonstration of Israeli identity, they get different meanings in the Czech environment. Firstly the author attempted to reconstruct the history of spreading of Israeli folk dances in the Czech environment and to map the different groups involved in these dances. Collection of these facts can be further used as an information source for all researchers wishing to conduct studies on Israeli folk dances in the Czech Republic in the future. Secondly the author concentrated on the ways of practicing Israeli folk dances in a Prague group called Besamim. How to survive prosperity (ethical position of conflict of tradition and consumerism)

We are finding ourselves in time, when a civilization achieves a prosperity by unscrupulous behaviour towards a wealth, which had been entrusted by previous generations into our custody with purpose of its development. From the philosophical point of view it is not only about the use and maintenance of natural resources, on which the human population is dependent, but it is also about the preservation of traditions and moral norms. Even though the wealthy North tries to hide a fact of dependence of human population on nature in every possible way, under a layer of externally looking great economic progress. Society is situated in such a prosperity, when some people are beginning to realize the limits of their welfare and facade promising eternity, wealth, luxury, glamor and glory begins to crack. These individuals then paint their own colours. Colours whose shades are close to shade of nature. An individual is not the majority and dreamed well-being, which has become an idol for the majority of population, has shown us the dark side for quite some time. Increase in aggression is noticeable, the dominant feature is the indifference, individualism and consumerism wins, the birth of the value of emptiness is warning, the decline of morals and others. All this highlights the lifestyle of the consumer society, which is encouraged by suggestive influential media culture. The bachelor thesis deals with "ethical aspect of clash of tradition and consumerism." Considering the complexity of spoken question, "How to Survive prosperity" in the name of thesis and the limited space allowed by the nature of the type of thesis, I chose certain aspects of consumerism, which are to some extent analysed in the scholarly literature, but undergo dynamic changes that are more sophisticated (see the inclination to (often emptied) humanitarian actions, which in many cases serves only to appease their own unclean conscience, which I describe in one chapter of the thesis). By means of practical examples it is an attempt to draw attention to these "modernizations" and their concealment or distinctiveness. The main objective of my work is to document the shift ethical principles towards inefficiency, disdain, wastage and reasons that led the society to behave this way. Gradual steps that lead to the main goal are analysis, whose purpose is to trace the influences that act on the weakening of moral principles, abandonment of traditional forms of conduct and behaviour or ignorance of traditional cultural patterns. The research question refers to how much and in which areas is the shift of traditional moral principles more than evident, what are the possible consequences or opportunities for redress. Bachelor thesis is processed by form of theoretical work. The first part is documented through words of sociologists and philosophers with selected aspects of life in today's society (perception of time and space, the cult of entertainment, the decline of the language secularization of faith, etc.), thereafter analysis of selected social phenomena can be found, which are part of the consumer lifestyle and in terms of sustainable social development pose the historical aspect of ethical misconduct. Subsequently, by defining the consumer world and values in postmodern society I point to shift towards ethical element away from tradition and closer to the inefficiency and excessive eccentricity. In the final phase, my thesis is focused on finding solutions and methods that could ethically cultivate analysed problems. In my opinion I met the objective of this thesis, I realize however that this subject is far from exhausted, due to its wide range, and therefore it make sense to study it furthermore.

The Role of Social Work and Social Worker Accompanying a Man in Dying

The objective of this Thesis is to outline the role of social work and social worker when accompanying a man in dying. The Thesis focuses on defining the social work and, at the same time, it points to the enormous diversity of the social work. The Thesis thus deals with the unclear definition of the field of social work as a particular helping profession, with the competency of social workers and with the current discussion about the need for a law on social workers. The Thesis also treats the phenomena of death and dying and how these issues are viewed from the perspective of social work. In the Thesis, these questions are highlighted in the context of the impact of the postmodern society. A large part of the Thesis is dedicated to finding the role of social work and social worker in hospice environment. Interest in dying clients and their loved ones represents an integral part of the Thesis, which also points out their needs, wishes and troubles. The Thesis outlines the issue of advisory for bereaved persons as well. Furthermore, it analyzes the ethical dimension of death and dying, especially with regard to human dignity. Critique of professional literature is confronted with author's own practical experience and with the output from an interview with a social worker.

Free time as an opportunity for self-realization as well as self-surpassing of individuals at the productive age

This dissertation deals with self-realization and self-surpassing of individuals during the selected period of their productive age within their free time. The academic part, based on specialized literature, describes functions as well as factors of free time and its evolution from ancient time to the present. It describes middle age and its specifics from a developmental psychology point of view, it further aims to grasp the self-realization and self-surpassing keywords. The practical part addresses a research of the leisure-time-activities preferences of working middle-aged individuals, focusing on self-realization and self-surpassing.It describes methods used in a performed research, evaluates obtained data and at the conclusion summarizes the results of the research.

The impact of the world economic recession on unemployment of the graduates in South Bohemian Region

The performance of the world{\crq}s biggest economies is slowing down and young people are the most affected as shown by the rising numbers of unemployment, especially among the youths. The aim of this thesis is to identify and map the impact of the global financial crisis on the unemployment of graduates in the South Bohemian Region. My intention was to test the hypothesis of my previous thesis topic ``Life targets of the unemployed graduates in České Budějovice`` and the data obtained by thos investigation/research is to be put into context with reference to the current state of the labour market. In this thesis, I have used the form of quantitative research. As a method of data collection, I have chosen to use interviews and document analysis. The technique, in this case, is the secondary analysis of data from the questinaire. The questionnaire was developed in two forms: on paper (printed copies) and on the Internet (the electronic form) in order to increase data. The questionaire consisted of 22 questions which are well related to the total psycho-social and economic well being of the unemployed and, in as much following the current set hypotheses: {\clqq}The most prefered goals in the lives of the unemployed graduates is to find a well paying job``, most of the graduates still remain in a period of unemployment and hence they are still living with their parents`` and {\clqq}Most of the unemployed graduates tend to adopt an active approach in finding a job``. I contacted the respodents through the job centres in South Bohemia Region. The first hypothesis proved to be wrong whilest the second and third hypothesis proved to be correct and hence the aim of the thesis was fulfilled. This is a very practical topic in connection with unemployment and this work can serve as a basis for further research, especially with subsequent use in schools. This work may also be used as a supplement for specialised courses focusing on issues of unemployment.

Adolescence, its Free Time and Value Orientation

The thesis is focused on the adolescence as a particular life period of a man. Its aim is to analyze this period in connection with free time. Moreover it tries to point out the influence of value orientation of each individual which is reflected in one{\crq}s free time. And the topic is related to the society and current period called postmodernism. It deals with the influence of consumer culture that presses on the teenagers and with manifestations of this influence. It tempts to draw the attention to the crisis of so called traditional values and the antagonism between what people believe in and what they do. Finally I am trying to point at the possibilities of the free-time pedagogy that disposes of the methods, which can efficiently reduce problematic aspects brought by current time.
