Analysis and development of IS/ICT solution for project Sanace dluhů in the Czech republic

This paper describes the analysis and development of IS/ICT for the project Sanace dluhů in the Czech republic which is being realised by The Association for Probation and Mediation in Justice in cooperation with Czech Probation and Mediation Service and Swiss association VEBO. The goal of this project was to design and realize the IS/ICT support for project Sanace dluhů. In order to meet this goal many activities had to be performed such as designing the architecture of the information system, programming the IASW and the creation of documentation and training of future users. The first part of this paper describes the process of choosing the methodology and continues with more detailed description of the chosen methodology and with the description of how the methodology was adapted to fit the project. In this part there are also mentioned the agile techniques and models used during the analysis. In the next chapter the author describes and documents the analysis of clients' requests and the present state. Following chapters describe among other topics the design of the final solution, selected topics dealing with the application development and with the process of delivery of the developed solution to end-users. This part of the paper also discusses the future possibilities of extending the application. Author's contribution lies in performing the activities specified by the chosen methodology and in presentation of their outputs. In the process of creation of this paper the author understood the project Sanace dluhů, thoroughly analysed the requests for its IS/ICT support, reacted on the changes in requests and created a product based on these requests that fulfills clients' vision. Author then put the product into operation considering both hardware and software and trained its users.

Desing and implementation of a database for organisation providing accommodation and camp-out services

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou, návrhem a implementací databáze pro organizaci poskytující pobytové a ubytovací služby. Hlavním cílem je dostatečně flexibilní návrh databáze a jeho úspěšná realizace v databázi Oracle 10g Express Edition. Návrh databáze vychází z analýzy firmy a z požadavků budoucích uživatelů. Databáze má především rezervační a evidenční funkčnost. Cílem je co největší zahrnutí aplikační logiky do databáze. Funkčnost databáze bude otestována pomocí testovací aplikace, která je vytvořena platformě .NET v programovacím jazyce C#. Teoretická část se věnuje datovému modelování a jeho principům. Dále se stručně zabývá postupem návrhu databáze a relačním datovým modelem.

Database System shoice based on requirements of the IS/ICT project

Aim of this work is to make a methodic to support a decision which database system is the most suitable for the IS/ICT project. At first, some database systems are being described and it's being shown, how to compare their performance. Then there is a chapter about database migration and finally the chapter describing particular factors of making a decision which database system is the best option. Those factors are summarized at the end of a chapter. This work is based on resources literature and my experience during my studies and practice. I tried to describe a process which was, in my own opinion, the best eventuality to solve a problem to make a choice which database system is the most suitable.

Use of LINQ technology

This work is focused at new Microsoft technology for querying data LINQ (Language intergrated query). It is built as complex technology, it allows working with various data sources. For example it contains collections of objects, created for temporary storing data in memory, but also data in robust database systems. In first part of this work I describe how data was queried before LINQ was on scene and what reasons made LINQ originate. Then I analyze new features in C# that were prerequisites for creating language integrated query as part of base libraries. Next part focuses at query operators, their interfaces and provides examples of use. Then I describe LINQ technology in complex, I create and describe in detail process of execution of LINQ query. Next chapter describes querying ADO.NET Datasets. Practical examples are created for both typed and untyped Datasets. In following chapter I analyze LINQ to SQL functionality. There is described method of implementation, mainly translation LINQ query to SQL language, integrated object rational mapping tool, change tracking in mapped objects including concurrency problems. At the end of the chapter I sketch the future in data access in ADO.NET entities. In last but one chapter is created complex application of use LINQ technology. Application is built as thin client that uses LINQ as for reading and manipulating data from relational database. In the application is LINQ also used common work with component that presents data. At the end part of this work is LINQ technology summarized. Contribution and pitfalls of LINQ technology are also described.

Approaches to consolidating data base and source code base of the Techno.cz webserver

In this diploma thesis, I conduct a research into approaches to consolidating data base and source code base of the Techno.cz webserver, which is the subject of the consolidation. By consolidation I mean bringing the server into the state where documentation is produced according to given requirements, data base is changed in order to improve data structure and consistency and source code base is reorganised in order to unify source code upon one platform, improve file system organization and remove problematic characteristics of the source code in general. The goals of this thesis are to create and describe general process of consolidation, sequence and contents of its steps; to describe contents of consolidation in given areas: documentation, data base and source code base; to describe actual steps made to achieve the final state of the server. My approach to accomplishing these goals is the study of relevant literature and usage of my practical experience in the field of web development. My contribution to the topic is the creation of the general consolidation process that has a potential to be reused by similar projects. Another contribution may be the description of handling the risks and problems that emerged during the consolidation process. This topic may find itself as a valuable source of knowledge for fellow developers facing similar issues. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. After the introduction chapter 2 follows. Chapter 2 describes parameters of the Techno.cz webserver. Chapter 3 discusses software engineering methodologies in order to create suitable consolidation process. Chapter 4, 5, 6 discuss particular fields of consolidation: documentation, data base and source code. In chapter 7 I am trying to assess suitability of created processes and approaches for usage in future development. In the conclusion I summarize the thesis according to required structure.

The proposal of the optimal type of e-communication for the division of microscopes and industrial endoscopes of the Olympus company

The graduatin thesis is devoted to implementation of the new model of e-communication for the division of microscopes and industrial endoscopes of the Olympus company. The first part includes theoretical essentials for the elaboration. The terms concerning marketing and commerial communications are explained in it, such as the differences between the purchasing process of the consumer and the companies, the topic of brand management is also mentioned and situation analysis and in the end general rules of comercial communications and e-marketing ale discussed.The aplication part describes the history of the Olympus company, its situation analysis and SWOT analysis of the division of microscopes,the procedure of creating the clients database, development of forms of the commercial notes sent and also the results of the first and second e-mailing realized. As the conclusion the recommendations to the future are indicated.

Application Development on Lotus Notes/Domino, .NET and Java Platforms Using Oracle Databases

Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na propojení databáze Oracle s vývojovými platformami Java, .Net a Lotus Notes/Domino. Po vysvětlení základních principů a technik práce s databází následuje část, která si klade za cíl jednotlivé možnosti propojení porovnat a otestovat. Na všech 3 platformách existují vyspělé propojovací technologie pro práci s databází, mezi nejznámější patří ODBC, JDBC, ADO.NET a LC (Lotus Connectors). Jednotlivé možnosti propojení se na všech třech vývojových platformách značně liší. Společná zůstává jen základní funkcionalita pro práci s databází (sestavení připojení, řízení transakcí, volání SQL příkazů, přenášení základních datových typů a volání uložených procedur). Pro praktické ověření jednotlivých propojovacích produktů byla vyvinuta testovací/benchmark aplikace, která byla z jazyka Java naimplementována i do prostředí .NET (C#) a Lotus Notes/Domino (Lotus Script). Bylo naimplementováno a spuštěno 253 testů na 12 produktech od 8 výrobců. Podkladem pro zpracování diplomové práce a realizaci testů byla dokumentace k těmto systémům a další odborná literatura. Díky těmto testům bylo možné, v rámci možností, porovnání jednotlivých produktů i platforem. Systematické testování a práce s těmito produkty ukázaly, že jednotlivé produkty jsou velmi rozdílné v ceně, kvalitě, výkonu, ale i ve svých specifických funkcích.

Design patterns for enterprise databases

Při navrhování databáze se často setkáváme s případy, kdy je potřeba zachytit nějakou situaci z reality, která se často opakuje a její řešení není zcela jednoduché. Cílem této práce je popis těchto situací pomocí datových modelů. Ty představují možný způsob řešení, které lze považovat za vzorové a aplikovatelné i pro jiné situace. Úvodní kapitola má za úkol uvést čtenáře do problematiky návrhových vzorů. Ty jsou v informatice úspěšně využívány při návrhu objektově orientovaných programů. Pro úspěšné pochopení modelů zobrazených v této práci je druhá kapitola věnována základům datového modelování. Zbývající kapitoly se věnují tvorbě návrhových vzorů databáze hospodářské organizace. Každá z kapitol je zaměřena na některou část z databáze a popisuje její nejdůležitější entity a vazby. V závěru jsou uvedeny příklady modelů databáze, ve kterých jsou použity poznatky vycházející z této práce.

Comparison of robust and open source database management systems

Práce se zabývá problematikou objektově-relačních databázových systémů. Cílem je analýza současné situace na poli databázových platforem ze sféry tradičních robustních i open source produktů, která by vedla k posouzení předpokladů uplatnění otevřených databázových platforem v oblastech dosud charakteristických především pro tradiční distributory. Na počátku práce nejprve přibližuji čtenáři otázky související s distribucí softwaru (proprietární vs. open source) a základní pojmy v oboru databázových systémů. Po tomto výchozím uvedení stanovuji kriteria pro následnou komparaci vybraných databázových platforem, která předurčují další postup v rozhodující části věnované komparační analýze. K dovršení celého rozboru práci uzavírám nastíněním přítomných možností využití tradičních robustních a především pak open source databázových systémů. Komparační analýza je vystavena na základě předem definovaných kritérií do pěti oddílů zohledňujících základní charakteristiky, technologické a funkční vlastnosti, bezpečnost, dostupnost i podporu produktů a nevěnuje se rozboru z hlediska výkonu a optimalizace. Za účelem srovnání byly vybrány čtyři přední databázové systémy ? Oracle, DB2, Teradata a PostgreSQL. V návaznosti na důkladnou analýzu, která vedla ke zmapování aktuální situace na databázovém trhu, jsou v závěru práce vytknuty hlavní faktory kolidující širšímu uplatnění open source platforem.
