Rossini's biography and work: Bassoon Concerto and Issue of Autorship
Hlavatý, Petr ; SEIDL, Jiří (advisor) ; HERMAN, František (referee)
Gioacchino Rossini, who lived from 1792 to 1868, was the author of 39 operas, various works of sacred music, cantatas and other vocal and instrumental compositions and various smaller pieces, which are called Péchés de Vieillesse (Sins of Old Age). He worked mainly in Italy and France. He interrupted his compositional activity in 1829 and to the end of his life just composed mostly minor and occasional pieces. Typical features of his works are melodically creative themes, sotto voce alternating with fortissimo full orchestra, the accompaniment alternating bass and themes starting sixteenth value followed a half note (or their variations). Bassoon Concerto, whose autorship is not yet confirmed, was probably written between 1845-48 for the bassoonist Nazzareno Gatti for one of his final exams at lyceum of music. From detailed analysis of the work can not be concluded that the concert is completely original work of Rossini. Today, the most valued works are that written in the style of Italian opera buffa (eg. The Barber of Seville).

Perceptions of the elderly by society
ŠANDOVÁ, Libuše
I chose the topic of my thesis The perception of Elderly by the society because I believe that it belongs to major actual topics. The whole world faces the demographic issue of aging population and our country is not an exception. The aging of population is accompanied by a number of problems, which may induce negative perception of aging among inhabitants of the particular countries and tension among generations. However, everybody must realize that they are heading towards old age because the aging process relates to everyone since birth. Old age is only a result of the lifelong process of aging. The aim of my thesis is to map the differences in the opinions of people aged 18 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, and 50 to 65 regarding the age when a person is considered to have become a senior. I also wanted to find out how the respondents feel about the situation and status of seniors in the society and to discover whether the attitude of the respondents towards elderly people is positive or negative. How the subjective perception changes with the respondents´ increasing age? Are there any differences in the opinions of men and women? In which age categories can we already perceive some elements of aging? To meet the objective of my thesis I determined the following hypotheses. H1: Persons up to 30 years of age perceive seniors and old age as a negative issue and later their perception changes to tolerance. H2: There are differences between the perception of old age and seniors by women and men not only within the particular age categories but also in general. H3: The current society behaves adversely towards seniors. In the theoretic part I am firstly addressing the individual phases of a human life. I am also paying attention to the period of old age and to changes accompanying the final part of human life. Subsequently, I am clarifying the terms age, geriatrics, and gerontology, which are connected with the topic of my thesis. Following is a chapter called Old Age and Society where I am addressing the issue of perception of old age in the past and at present. Another topic is aging. I am dealing with the term´s definition and the causes of its origination. Then I am tackling the topic of population aging. In the final part of my thesis I am focusing on financial securing in old age, retirement pensions conditions of the claim and its individual types. For my survey I used an anonymus questionnaire. I asked respondents aged 18 to 65, which I divided in the aforementioned four age categories and compared the results. The thesis may be used by society organizations as a basis for education of young people and it can also be published in the journal Kontakt.

Economy of Conflict: Case Study on the DRC
Adamovič, Ján ; Kváča, Vladimír (advisor) ; Pavlicová, Vendula (referee)
This study deals with the economic dimensions of the modern civil wars. These dimensions provide us with better understanding of the inner dynamics of civil wars. Main purpose is to show that economic life doesn`t stop to exist during war, nor is it totally destroyed. Rather it`s being transformed. This theoretical definition is then applied on the Second Congo War which emerged on the debris of Mobutu Sese Seko`s shadow state. The conflict in the DRC was highly concentrated on natural resources which consequently helped financing the war itself. When the war got into the militarily stalemate situation, fights went on owing to economic incentives to continue. The war in DRC changed life on each level of society. Although GDP per capital was drastically decreasing , economic life didn`t stop and transformed. For population it was rather constant copying with the war situation. These results have also implications for postconflict reconstruction.

The balance between an entrepreneurship and a personal life
Durchánek, Stanislav ; Lukeš, Martin (advisor) ; Surynek, Alois (referee)
This Master's Thesis deals with the balance between an entrepreneurship and a personal life. Its main goal is to identify which factors have or don't have an impact on the balance between an entrepreneurship and a personal life. As a part of the theoretical section I defined components of balanced life, the consequences of imbalances and recommendations how to get a life into a balance. Additionally, there are described important parts of entrepreneurship. For my methodological section I established the list of standards how to choose a suitable entrepreneurs for my research as well as research methods (incl. personal interviews with every single entrepreneur) and data evaluation system. This methodological section justifies and determines the way in which the balance is measured. In my practical section I examined a sample of 40 entrepreneurs (majored in restaurant business). During the research I tried to find a statistical significance among groups of entrepreneurs. The research results leads to the conclusion that the balance between an entrepreneurship and a personal life depends on qualitative rather than on quantitative features.
