The Effect of Parenthood on Wages in the Czech Republic
Žofková, Martina ; Stroukal, Dominik (advisor) ; Tříska, Dušan (referee)
Using cross-sectional and longitudinal data from EU-SILC for the Czech Republic this thesis shows that mothers suffer wage penalty, whereas fathers gain wage premium. These results are in accordance with literature abroad. This thesis also shows that parenthood has greater impact on individuals with higher education, that motherhood penalty is lower for single mothers, whereas fatherhood premium is higher for single fathers, and that there is stronger self-selection of mothers into specific jobs than in case of fathers. Model of fixed effects suggests that parenthood is connected with unobservable characteristics that have positive effect on parent's wages. Results of this thesis are in accordance with human capital theory, division of labor within the household, self-selection of mothers into more mother-friendly jobs. But results concerning lower work effort of mothers are inconclusive.
Ethical Aspects of Preparations For Parenthood of Persons With Visually Impairments
DANIELKOVÁ, Dana
The paper deals with preparations for parenthood in persons with visual disabilities. The first part describes the target group and is dedicated to defining the terms family and parenthood, and their importance in our lives. Further, it presents the most important determinants that affect the parenthood of these people and their ethical evaluation. It touches upon society's prejudices associated with parenthood, which make it difficult for these people to integrate into society. Based on qualitative research, the paper presents practical measures that make it possible to eliminate the incidence of prejudice while promoting a quality fulfilment of the parental role for the benefit of a healthy development of the child and the development of the parent's personality, thus improving the integration of parents with visual disabilities into society.

Nursing care of patients with diseases of the Von Hippel-Lindau.
SIGMUNDOVÁ, Ivana
Theoretical bases Nursing care is a comprehensive health care aimed at health maintenance and support, health recovery, development of self-sufficiency, mitigation of suffering of incurably ill patients and providing for their peaceful dying and death. Nursing care as a practical application of nursing findings takes account of fundamental human bio-psycho-social and spiritual needs. Care is provided by a team of registered general nurses certified to perform a medical profession without professional supervision. The most important part of nursing care is the supervision of patients. Supervision means active monitoring of the health condition of a patient endangered or suffering from a disease which does not require immediate health care but in respect of which it may be expected that the disease will result in such change of the health condition that the timely detection of such change may be of great importance for the treatment of the disease. Objective of the thesis The objective of the bachelor thesis on this topic was to map the matter of nursing care provided to von Hippel-Lindau patients. The thesis has a form of a theoretical paper utilising a wide range of both Czech and foreign literary sources. Used methods The thesis is based on an analysis of Czech and foreign data. Analysis of data from solely Czech sources was unsatisfactory in terms of contents. Awareness of VHL is very low in the Czech Republic as compared to foreign countries where information is collected and distributed to other countries. There is a great growth of VHL research abroad, resulting in new findings. The purpose of the detailed studying of all available literary data was to present a summary of the ascertained facts. Von Hippel-Lindau is one of 7000 known hereditary disorders. It is a genetic disease that causes abnormal growth of veins in some body parts. Their uncontrollable growth is caused by a defect of the VHL gen. A ball of vessels creates hemangioblastomas, angiomas, renal cell carcinomas, pheochromocytomas, pancreatic cysts and tumors, endolymphatic tumors and cystadenomas. Tumors are mostly benign but their location may impose a risk. The first part of the bachelor thesis addresses the cause of the disease, symptoms, methods of examination and treatment. The second part of the thesis is focused on the mental aspects of the disease and the likely future scenarios for VHL patients. Conclusion The bachelor thesis will serve to increase the awareness of von Hippel-Lindau disease among healthcare workers. It may also serve as a source of study materials for students of healthcare branches. The thesis includes a brochure containing introductory information about VHL disease.

Possibilities how the support the family of a newborn with developmental risk
ZIKEŠOVÁ, Ivana
This diploma thesis deals with the issues of a family of a newborn with a developmental risk. The theoretic part deals with the most common problems endangering the healthy development of a newborn, also with family and the process of coping with the crisis. Further on, it deals with possibilities of family support during their stay in hospital and also after the baby has been discharged into home care, using the support of non-health care groups. The objective of the diploma thesis was to detect possibilities of psycho-social support for the family of a newborn with a developmental risk. The thesis answers questions of, how parents feel in this situation after the birth of their child, during its stay in hospital and subsequently after the discharge into home care, what kind of support services they use to help them manage this period. Further on it deals with questions of whether the information of support options is sufficient and whether this support system works from the parent?s perspective. This diploma thesis was processed on a basis of qualitative survey results. The questioning method of half-format with parents was used and the method of document summary analysis. The investigated samples were parents of ten children treated in The Developmental Care Unit of Neonatology ward in the hospital of České Budějovice a.s. During the hospitalization of the child, it is important, that the medical team communicates openly, gives well timed and clear information and allows direct involvement in the child care. The outcome of this investigation points out the important role of the partner, family and friends as the main source of support. Also sharing feelings and needs with other parents is rand as a considerable source of support. However, the mothers especially, miss this sharing opportunity after their baby has been discharged into home care. Another interesting outcome is the absence of a psychologist, who specializes in newborn matters as an important source of support for parents. The survey shows, how important the psychosocial support is for parents, not just during hospitalization, but also after the discharge of their baby. Whereas they feel that the healthcare service is adequate, they especially miss the psychosocial support after the discharge from hospital. This is especially true of families of babies with developmental risk, without any serious health problem. Listed subjects could be used by professionals dealing with care of newborn with developmental risk, who provide complex care for families of the children with perinatal condition. Therefore, specialized psychological help should be an evident part of the care provided. The hypothesis were determined on the basis of qualitative survey results, which could be verified by further investigation:Hypothesis 1: For mothers of a newborn with developmental risk it is important to get help in the framework of supporting parental groups.Hypothesis 2: After the discharge of their child into home care, parents would appreciate psychosocial support in the framework of outpatient service.
