Law regulation of banknotes and coins circulation in the Czech Republic

This thesis focuses on the law regulation of the paper currency, coins and money circulation in the Czech Republic. It is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is intended to introduce the issue of the currency to a reader by explaining the concept of money, currency, legal tenders and related matters. It describes also the process of money creation and historical evolution of money in the world and within the Czech Republic as well. The second chapter examines the current law regulation regarding to the currency and the money circulation in the Czech Republic. It provides brief explanation of source of law concept and specifies the fundamental legal regulations relating to the currency and money circulation. The third chapter is concentrated on the role of the Czech national bank as the central bank of the Czech Republic. The fundamental activities performed by the Czech national bank upon the laws, such as the issuance of the fiat money and the management of the circulation of currency, are discussed in this chapter. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the Czech coinage. Iconography of Etruscan Coins

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the iconography of coins in ancient Etruria, connected with Etruscan cities. The first part is theoretical and thematically divided into two parts. First of these parts discusses the geography and a brief introduction to the social and economic issues in Etruria. The second part is an introduction to the iconography of Etruscan coins. A few of the most common themes, that occur frequently on individual mintages, are selected and then analyzed in detail. The themes are presented and compared with motifs on Greek or Roman coins, and Etruscan art. For greater clarity is the majority of chosen motifs accompanied with a table, where the occurrence of motifs across the cities is shown. Tables are divided by centuries and mintages, resulting in an overview of the cities, where the motive was used most often. The second part is a catalog of Etruscan coins, broken down by cities. The cities are accompanied by the images of coins and the tables with their denomination, metal and century of their introduction. Iconography of Roman Coins during the Age of Constantinian Dynasty

(in English) The Roman coins minted during the reign of Constantinian Dynasty form remarkable and unique group by their motives. The aim of this work is to define and describe the motifs used on Roman coins in this period, classify the individual image groups and interpret their significance in terms of state propaganda. This work also notes the relationship between the coin images and transcriptions, the use of the mint marks as a part of the image content, and describes the relations between the coin images and contemporary sociopolitical phenomena and events.

Issuance of money by the central bank and its prospect after accession to the European Monetary Union (abstract) The presented thesis analyzes the problems of issuance of money by the Central Bank in the Czech Republic. The issuance of money is analyzed particularly from the viewpoint of its legal regulation but attention is also paid to its practical implementation in the official practice of our Central Bank. The aim of the thesis is to comprehensively elaborate substantial part of the legal regulation in this area. Attention is paid particularly to applicable legal regulation but also to regulations that have been repealed in the period from establishment of the Czech Republic to the present time. This area of our day to day life has not been frequently explored and there is only minimum related financial-law literature. This, on the other hand, provides more space for the analysis of little known information from official practice. The first part of the thesis provides an overview of the history of issuance of money in our territory after 1918. The Imperial Portrait since Augustus till Traianus

This bachelor thesis deals with the portraits of emperors and their wifes in free-standing sculpture and coins. The time period includes the Agustan era, the Julio-Claudian dynasty, the Year of the Four Emperors, the Flavian dynasty and Nerva and Traianus from the Adoptive Emperors. The thesis compares the artistic interpretation of emperors and ancient literary sources. It describes geographical differences in portrait before and after the accession and context with Roman political propaganda. Historical background is added.

Grave gifts and the personal equipment of the dead in the early medieval burials and the fade away of this custom

The topic of the bachelor thesis is Grave gifts and personal equipment of the dead in the early medieval burials and the fade away of this custom. The thesis is divided into three parts. First of them is dedicated to the analysis of selected early medieval burial grounds and closer acquainting with singular items of grave's equipment. In the second chapter are these items closely characterized and dated. I have tried in the last chapter to follow the causes of the phenomenon of fading away of the grave's equipment in early medieval burial grounds. The goal of the thesis is to follow the changes in the frequency of occurrence of the items placed into graves on Czech early medieval burial grounds, focusing on singular kinds of grave's discoveries, determination of chronology and interpretation of the causes of the followed phenomenon.

Historical trails and early medieval coin findings. Contribution to knowledge of remote and regional communications in the southern and western Bohemia.

This diploma thesis deals about the findings of early medieval coins in the southern and western Bohemia, which are used as a source base for understanding the long-distance and regional communications. The basic sources of research of this subject are early medieval coinage findings with regard to the settlement at that time known primarily from archaeological knowledge. Further consideration is given to the passage of proven historical roads and map background, which caught scenery before the industrial revolution. The main goal of this work is to determine how the findings of early medieval coins associated with long-distance communications. Another aim is to capture all the previously known findings of the study area and to attempt a possible reconstruction of the regional communications, which could interconnect settlement areas. The aim of the work is not and cannot be directly detected historic roads in the field, since the work is guided from above ,,from the table" too large area.

Czech banknotes: counterfeiting and protective elements

The chapter, which should bring a basic overview about money and its counterfeiting, is called "Money". With usage of theoretical and empirical money definitions I introduced money and its historical development in the world and also in Czech countries. The last part of this chapter explains money circulation in economics. The third chapter is about counterfeiting development and about punishments which threatened to people if they were accused of counterfeiting. We can find a lot of concrete examples of fake money in Czech Republic and a story about a nazi camp Sachsenhausen, where Hilter and its soldiers were forcing Jewish prisoner to make fake British pounds and American dollars. The next chapter contains individual protective elements which can be found on Czech and world banknotes. The practical part begins with a chapter which shows pictures of Czech banknotes with the placement of protective elements. The analysis of the current situation in the field of money counterfeiting was done in chapter No 6 (the analysis is a main goal of this thesis). The following chapter brings information about a survey (it was done in February and March 2012 among Czech public) -- initial hypothesis, evaluation and dependencies could be found there. All my proposal and initiatives which can improve the current situation are stated in the closing chapter together with a summary of the thesis practical part.

Valuation and investing in coins

This thesis is dedicated to the valuation and investing in coins. The main aim is an explanation and determination of main factors influencing prices of coins. The first part deals with a comprehensive presentation of numismatics as an object of collecting, investing and explain its relationship with modern banking. The second section defines the four main factors influencing the value of coins. It defines their importance, the specific effect on the price and attempts to quantify their exact values. This chapter also mentions three authorized methods of valuation according to a Czech law. The third part is an analysis of three favourite gold investment coins, based on market values for the past five years. The result of the last chapter is the subsequent comparison and evaluation of measured values on which it is made a practical valuation.

Coins of denar's period in Bohemia - analysis of hoards from south-west Bohemia

This work analyses early medieval hoards of coins in south-west Bohemia and their relations eith the regional way from the Starý Plzenec - Velké Hydčice - Netolice - Doudleby. On the base of geographical predispositions, archaeological, historical and numismatical sources are researched points of the way and hoards of coins. This work brings possible explanation of relations of coin's hoards and way, which connected from the 10th (11th) century to the 13th century the main stronghold of south-west Bohemia.
