Comparison of solders for power modules
Spaček, Marek ; Boušek, Jaroslav (oponent) ; Hejátková, Edita (vedoucí práce)
This work gives and overview on semiconductor power modules, technologies used inside of them and some processes used for their manufacture. It describes some of the quality criteria for the solder joint between the module’s DBC substrate and its base plate and methods used for their inspection. Finally, it compares the qualities of a 6-component high reliability solder alloy 90iSC developed by Henkel to the standard solder alloy used for module production in SEMIKRON using different soldering programs with use of an X-ray inspection, SAM and metallographic sections.

Výsledková část obsahuje fotografie mikrostruktury a lomových ploch, hodnoty mikrotvrdosti jednotlivých fází a výsledky chemických analýz.

Synthesis and applications of Intermetallics
Novák, P. ; Salvetr, P. ; Kříž, J. ; Kubatík, Tomáš František
Intermetallic compounds, intermetallics, are characterized by interesting properties, such as e.g. excellent high -temperature oxidation resistance, shape memory or ability to store hydrogen reversibly. Their positive, but also negative, properties are a combination of the behaviour of metals and ceramics. Their wider application in industry is limited due to low room-temperature ductility and problematic production, associated with high melting points of many intermetallics, high reactivity of metals at high temperatures and problematic processing. In this paper, the overview of the methods for synthesis of intermetallic compounds is presented, ranging from conventional casting processes to modern powder metallurgy technologies. Selected interesting applications from industry and medicine, where their unique properties are used

Improvement of Hydrogen Desorption Characteristics of Eutectic Mg/Mg2NiH4 and Mg2NiH4 by In addition
Čermák, Jiří ; Král, Lubomír
Mg-xNi alloys are known as perspective hydrogen storage materials [1,2]. Hydrogen storage capacity and hydrogen desorption rate of binary alloys Mg-Ni are, however, still unsatisfactory and therefore, improvements are sought, e.g., by introduction of a proper catalyst [3]. As candidate elements, transition metals [4] are often used that attract bonding valence electrons and, hence, destabilize the hydrides. However, also elements with weaker bond to H than that of Mg, or even non-hydride forming elements show a beneficial effect upon the hydrogen desorption rate [5,6]. The present investigation continues our previous work [7,8]. Here we investigate the resistance of eutectic Mg/Mg2Ni against the poisoning by residual air and possible ways how to improve the hydrogen desorption kinetics of Mg2NiH4 by doping. As dopants, elements of the 13th and the 14th group were tested that do not form stable hydrides.
