Situation of student with special educational needs in climate of classroom
LEHOVCOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis is entitled "The situation of children with special educational needs in a classroom environment." Its objective is to map the position of integrated pupils with special educational needs in a classroom of intact children. Due to the extensive breakdown of the concept of pupils with special educational needs into several heterogeneous groups, a hearing impairment issue was chosen as the main subject of research. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The first mentioned area is further divided into three chapters. At the end of the first and second sections, there is a summary of their contents. The first chapter addresses the definition of pupils with special educational needs. The following chapters focus on the definition of hearing impairment. They characterize deafness in terms of its type and degree of disability. Furthermore, the study targets the attitude towards an early diagnosis and its impact on the psychosocial and individual role of the school advisory facility used by this target group, e.g. within their individual integration. The second chapter focuses on the psychosocial climate of the classroom. The subchapters deal with the definition of the classroom as a social group and the classroom climate characterized by its co creators teachers, pupils and parents. The main theoretical basis consists of the specifics of the classroom climate, which influences the integration of a pupil with hearing impairment among the intact classmates. The last chapter of this section describes the research methodology used when working with surveyed students with hearing disabilities from South Bohemia, who were integrated individually into mainstream schools. A qualitative research was applied in this work, namely through the analysis of personal documents of the probands and using a sociometric survey. The first mentioned method contains the data of the probands provided by the Special Pedagogical Centre for the hearing impaired in České Budějovice and the individual educational plans of the analysed subjects. A sociometric survey of the relationships in the classroom was carried out using a specially designed test assignment for the whole class. The collected data were used to elaborate three case studies of selected students with a hearing impairment integrated into mainstream education classes. The evaluated sociometric test shows that a pupil with a hearing impairment does not always have to take up a position on the edge of the classroom; that such pupil can be an equal member of the class group. Two of the three probands assumed a position of an unpopular, and an overlooked classmate, who was rejected by the rest of the class. An exception is a proband, who, despite the heaviest degree of hearing defects, is a popular member of the classroom and has even assumed the position of a star. The analysis of personal data of the three probands and the positive elections reasoned for by the classmates showed that the position, which the examined subjects occupy in the classroom is likely to affect their personal attributes. The position, which the individual probands take in the class group can influence the degree of the presence of aspects which contribute to successful integration. Such factors also include attitudes towards the probands held by the classroom teachers, who are the most important co creators of the classroom climate. The issue of the integration of pupils with hearing disabilities into mainstream schools and of the positions taken by such pupils in class groups, the popularity of all their members and the interrelationships between classmates would deserve an expanding research, which would contribute to a closer specification of the survey results.
Quality of Life of People with hearing loss /Impaired Hearing Persons
ŠKOPKOVÁ, Monika
This bachelor's thesis called Quality of Life of People with Hearing Impairment is concerned with opportunities for people with hearing impairment in the field of education, employment and free time. The research aims also at real help offered to people with hearing impairment and the biggest obstacle in their lives these days. The first theoretical part of the thesis guides us through different types of hearing impairment. We are going to find more on e.g. hearing aids, communication of people with hearing impairment, upbringing and education, integration of children with hearing impairment into the society and the culture of the Deaf. The practical part of the thesis works with the interviews with employees of Svaz neslyšících a nedoslýchavých ČR (Union of Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Czech Republic). There is also an interview with a co-founder of a civic organization ORBI PONTES (Prague) and a presentation of Tichá kavárna (Silent Café, Prague).
Readiness of hospitals for admission of children with surdopaedic defects
TENKLOVÁ, Monika
Hearing is the most sensitive of all human senses. Together with sight, it serves as a means of communication and social interaction. Children with congenital hearing impairment lack the preconditions for development of speech. In this case, a long-term speech therapy is needed. The theoretical part of the thesis is concerned with hearing impairments. It mentions children with hearing impairments and also the education of nurses. I describe paediatric units and the work of nurses in these units. Two objectives were set for this bachelor's thesis: to find out whether nurses working in a hospital paediatric unit are ready to care for patients with hearing impairment and to examine how well the hospitals are equipped to care for these patients. The research part of the thesis was conducted as a qualitative research with nurses working in a paediatric unit in the form of a semi-structured interview. The interviews with nurses were then transcribed using verbatim transcription. Altogether, ten nurses working in three different hospitals were interviewed; two of these hospitals are located in the South Bohemian Region and one in the Central Bohemian Region. The first part of the research examined the qualification education, lifelong learning and education possibilities for nurses in the area of deaf education. We were also interested in the experience of nurses with the hospitalisation of children with hearing impairment in the paediatric unit. In the next part of the research, we examined the deaf education tools and modern technologies that could make care of children with hearing impairment easier. We were also interested in cooperation between the hospitals and special education teachers. In both hospitals in the South Bohemian Region, a teacher (not specialised in special education) is available in the unit, but the hospital in the Central Bohemian Region has not had any teachers in their unit for several years. So far, none of the nurses have experienced a special education teacher working in their unit. The last part of the research is aimed at nursing care of patients with hearing impairment. The nurses think that they are ready to provide nursing care or that they are expected to be. The research showed that there are occasionally children with hearing impairment in the paediatric units, but the nurses are not able to communicate with them using sign language. The paediatric units have experience with hospitalising these children, but in spite of that, they have no deaf education tools or modern technology available for them. These findings will be published in a nursing journal.
Integration of Persons with Hearing Disabilities into Socio-Cultural Environment of Majority Society
URBÁNKOVÁ, Veronika
This diploma dissertation is focused on integration of hearing handicapped people in the society. The objective of the diploma dissertation is the analysis of possibilities to integrate the hearing handicapped people in socio-cultural milieu of the majority society. The diploma dissertation is an investigation work and it is divided into two parts, namely to theoretical and practical ones. In the first theoretical part, I am dealing with a brief division of hearing defects, communication and personality types of hearing handicapped individuals and further with areas of education, employment and culture. Methods and techniques of the qualitative research are described in the practical part. The research method is used in the diploma dissertation and data collection technique is represented by the semi-controlled conversation with hearing handicapped people. The research was implemented on the territory of the capital city of Prague. The research set is made up of 10 respondents altogether having different types of hearing handicap. The cardinal question set within the framework of the research is What are the chances of integration of the hearing handicapped people in the socio-cultural milieu of the majority society? Further, other secondary investigative questions were set. It resulted from the research that chances for education of hearing handicapped persons are not sufficient and further that the hearing handicapped people have a limited access to labour market due to their hearing defects. In addition, the investigation showed that the highest barriers in relation to the hearing society consist in communication and information barriers and further in persistent prejudices of the society and that the hearing handicapped people do not have an adequate access to cultural enjoyment equally over the entire Czech Republic territory. One of the outcomes of the dissertation thesis for practical utilization is the description how to find out the chances of integration of the hearing handicapped persons in the socio-cultural milieu of the majority society, which may contribute not only to better awareness of both the expert public and general public, but also to finding conceivable needs of social services for these people.
Specific elemets of civil defence of the population regarding physically disabled people of the Slovak Republic.
HARMANOVÁ, Veronika
In Slovak Republic, fundamentals of protection of people, property and environment are established by the Constitution of Slovak Republic, the Security Strategy of Slovak Republic and by numerous Acts, Declarations or Regulations of Government which refer to Civilian Protection and Integrated Rescue System. Legislative standards with regards to protection of health or property does not take into account people with health disabilities despite the fact that the right for safety and timely warning of imminent danger is granted for every citizen on the territory of Slovak Republic. Objective of my diploma work is to investigate readiness of institutions participating on solutions of extraordinary events which struck people with health disabilities. Based on results of quantitative survey we would like to point out on deficiencies of the system and to propose a solution to improve procedures of the Integrated Rescue System and Civil Protection with regards to people with health disabilities. Further objective is to process a proposal of methodical tutorial which would contain basis gesticulation important for communication with the hearing impaired. Theoretical part of the diploma work consists of several chapters. The first part discusses basic families, classes and types of health impairment. Further on system of Civil Protection and its mission was processed. Last part is dedicated to the Integrated Rescue System. In that chapter we described fundamental and other rescue branches which by large participated on solutions of extraordinary events. The theory was processed by means of law legislation, sources of literature and internet websites. The empirical (practical) part of the thesis has been used qualitative research method. Because it is extremely difficult to collect such data were made through guided interview with experts of Civil Protection and managers of particular rescue branches (Fire fighting and Rescue Force, Rescue Health Service, Police Force) only in three selected counties of Presov region (Poprad, Stará Ľubovňa, Prešov). Results of the managed interview were evaluated by SWOT analysis which compares the internal and external environment. On the basis of empirical phenomenon a searching strategy (WO) was chosen whereby the focus was laid on utilizing opportunities and eliminating weaknesses. Based on results we concluded that issue of health disability isn?t incorporated into law legislation and plans to solve extraordinary events. There is no common education of managerial and executive rescue branches which would enable them to gather fundamental knowledge of classes and specifications of health disability, possibilities of communication and means of first-aid provision. For further qualitative and quantitative development of education there is a deficiency of material-didactic instruments which serve to accomplish the objective. We also concluded that when rescuing health-impaired people there are no special procedures and methods taken into account. At the same time for the hearing-impaired there is no system of timely warning and information of imminent danger and possibility to call rescue branches through the emergency phone line. With regards to existing deficiencies we proposed practical recommendations. To improve communication with hearing impaired people we created a proposal of a methodical instrument for rescue branches which contains basic signs. As a part of it there is also a one-hand and two-hand finger alphabet for refinement and visualisation of words.
The availability social counseling for clients with hearing impairments in South Bohemian region.
MURÁŇOVÁ, Veronika
This thesis deals with professional social counseling for persons with hearing impairment, namely the availability of this service in the South Bohemian Region. Theoretical part describes persons with hearing impairment and social counseling for these clients. It also deals with the following areas of communication with disabled persons, and describes the competencies of South Bohemia in solving this issue. The first part is devoted to a quantitative research, the aim was to show the low availability of professional social counseling for persons with hearing disabilities in the South Bohemian Region. Using questionnaires sent out by the organizations,it was found that the availability of social counseling in our region is different than the registers. This problematic situation is mainly due to lack of funding from the MPSV and the organizations that are unevenly distributed demographically.
Colour modification of Wartegg drawing completion test in children with hearing impairment
WERNEROVÁ, Tereza
This thesis examines the common features occuring in processing of the color modification of Wartegg's drawing test by hearing impaired children and children with multiple disabilities. Multiple disabilities mean in this case hearing impairement and mental disability occuring in one individual. At the beginning of the thesis there is a theoretical background of the problem. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains terms as projective drawing techniques, Wartegg's drawing test and hearing and mental disabilities. Twenty tests done by children with hearing impairement attending elementary school and practical elementary school were selected. In the empirical part a research question is formulated and is answered at the and of the work. Research results are first classified by age and then according to different criteria. The results show that hearing-impaired children draw the most often geometrical structures, vehicles, buildings, figures and their parts. Drawings are not integrated into a broader context. To name the pictures the children use short appellation corresponding to the drawn item.
