Removal of Specific Pollution in Water Treatment
Tázlerová, Radka ; Vašalovská, Petra (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The present work deals with the specific problem of pollution in drinking water sources and potential removal of these substances in water treatment for drinking water. Attention was focused on hormones, pesticides and heavy metals. There have been reports of their properties, occurrence, impact on the environment and humans.
Removal of different species of phytoplankton by dissolved air flotation
Sukopová, Martina ; Mega, Jaroslav (referee) ; Dolejš, Petr (advisor)
The work evaluates the efficiency of dissolved air flotation (DAF) in removal of various kinds of phytoplankton. As absolutely necessary in the process of water treatment proved the agglomeration phase, or coagulation and floculation. This phase neutralizes the particles so that they can fasten air bubbles. The efficiency of this process depends on several variables, though: the kind of coagulant used, dose, coagulation pH, duration of floculation and its intensity, recycle ratio and the polymer use in coagulation. The particle size volume distribution and the volume of organic matter in raw water also have certain influence on phytoplankton removal. Dissolved air flotation is currently the most suitable method of phytoplankton removal. It can remove 93-98 % of blue-green algae and even 99-99.9 % of algae. The efficiency of flotation was also compared to sedimentation for the economic reason. In the process of water treatment, the sedimentation is now being replaced by flotation.
Removal of iron and manganese from ground water sources
Lízalová, Zuzana ; Kučera,, Tomáš (referee) ; Biela, Renata (advisor)
The thesis deals with removal of iron and manganese from ground water in drinking water treatment. The aim of the thesis is to describe the possibilities of removing iron and manganese from ground water, including an overview of the specific devices used by water technology companies for removing iron and manganese from ground water sources.
The Photo-Degradation of Organic Pollutants Using Sulphonated Phtalocyanines of Zinc and Aluminium in Semi-Industrial and Industrial Reactors
Hejda, S. ; Bůžek, D. ; Klusoň, Petr
The main aim of the work was to test the photocatalytical cleaning of organically polluted waters in a semi-industrial reactor, to optimise the reactors parameters (e.g. flow, initial concentrations of pollutant and catalyst, reaction mixture volume, etc.) and then to test the reactors for 4-chlorophenol (as a model substrate) decomposition.

Combined Photo- and Electrochemical Treatment of Wastewaters Containing Nitro- and Amino- Compounds
Krystyník, Pavel ; Klusoň, Petr ; Cempírek, F.
Electrocoagulation is a very effective method for inorganic pollutants removal from water. It is possible to remove more than 95 % of inorganic pollutants depending on pH and current density. Photochemical oxidation is able to remove all organic compounds from water depending mainly on hydrogen peroxide concentration. Electrocoagulation also contributes to reduce the content of organic compounds so it decreases the hydrogen peroxide consumption in the oxidative treatment.

Application of pulsed electric field on bacteria and spores
Kadlec, Tomáš ; Babický, Václav ; Člupek, Martin
Inactivation of bacteria Lactobacilus plantarum, Bacillus subtilis and spores of Bacillus subtilis in conductive aqueous solutions upon application of pulsed electric field was studied.
Effect of plasma jet treatment on Escherichia coli
Doležalová, Eva ; Verzichová, P. ; Janda, V. ; Člupek, Martin ; Lukeš, Petr
A plasma jet treated solution of E. coli was studied in dependence of inactivation mechanism. A comparison of the conventional culture-based technique of counting CFUs and bacterial LIVE/DEAD staining was determined. Furthermore, we monitored a production of MDA.
