Šmilauerová, Anna ; Pípalová, Renata (advisor) ; Ženíšek, Jakub (referee)
Anna Šmilauerová: TV Sitcom Friends: Analysis of character humor strategies based on the violation of Grice's Conversational maxims Abstract The purpose of this diploma thesis is the analysis of the humor strategies employed by the characters of Phoebe and Chandler in the TV Sitcom Friends. The discovered prevailing strategies were then compared with the personalities of the two characters. The data analyzed were the written script of five exemplary episodes from the Season 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, in which the utterances eliciting laughter from the audience were thoroughly analyzed from the point of Grice's Cooperative Principle: only those utterances were considered in which the characters violated one or more of the conversational maxims (quality, quantity, relation and manner). Phoebe was found to violate most often the maxim of relation, thus it is her being non-factual and non-conventional that constitutes her most entertaining quality. As she develops and grows more mature as a character, the frequency counts of this humor strategy evince a descending tendency. Chandler, on the other hand, is mostly being ironic, violating the maxim of quality. His character also gradually changes but his sense of humor remains the same - ironic throughout the show, as follows from the instances of almost fixed frequency....

Analysis of the price level and gasoline quantum sold at a chosen distributor in the Czech Republic and in Poland
Hlůšek, Jakub ; Zeman, Karel (advisor) ; Krebs, Vojtěch (referee)
The aim of the thesis was to analyse dependency between setting of the price level and gasoline quantum sold at a chosen distributor in the Czech Republic and in Poland. These markets have had slightly different development and they do have different market structure, because of the existence of the market leader in Poland. Second, there are analysed the data of the chosen distributor and analysed dependencies between price and quantum sold. Research showed that there is an existence of dependencies of quantum sold on both change of the absolute price and change of the relative price. These dependencies and the impact of the relative price change is more significant in the Czech Republic than in Poland.

Quantity as a Semantic Differential Factor in Medieval Legal Text
Jamborová, Martina
The article focuses on graphical aspects of Old Czech nouns město (in the sense of civitas) and miesto (in the sense of locus) in the Czech translation of collection of finds from Brno and Jihlava (2nd half of the 15th century). With words of equal origin, such as město and miesto, quantity functions as a semantic differential factor. The importance of its explicit written record becomes more apparent with the increasing independence of the words in question as independent semantic units in a given period of time. A legal manuscript is in this respect specific in the way that words equal or very similar in their form but different in their meaning enter here in contexts where their semantic differentiation becomes crucial for an adequate reception of the text.
Transfer of juvenile pikeperch (Sander lucioperca L.) from the pond keeping to the controlled conditions of intensive farming
HAJÍČEK, Jiří
Zander (Sander lucioperca) is a species whose importance is growing in European aquaculture. At present there are a number of studies underway to examine the feasibility of removing zander from their natural environment and breeding them intensively in aquacultures. Our study involved placing juvenile zander into aquacultures. Our objective was to determine whether the quantity and density of fingerlings placed in the aquaculture has a bearing on their survival rate.We placed 810,000 follicular fingerlings into a 2.75ha pond. We then dredged 83,000 rapid fingerlings. The survival rate of the dredged fingerlings was 10.25%. The foster period was 48 days. We then divided the juvenile fish into two groups: Group A: larger fish with an average length of 70.47mm ? 6.04mm and average weight of 3.36g ? 0.65g Group B: smaller fish with an average length of 47.03mm ? 3.75mm and average weight 0.66g ? 0.81g. The fish were fed using the "co-feeding" method (Chyromosus plumosus) with the addition of granular fodder. The influence of quantity and density of the fingerlings on their survival rate and likelihood of cannibalism. In each annual season we examined the effectiveness of raising juvenile zander in a recirculating system using a FROV-JU device. We monitored the survival rate of bred fish and their growth and feeding ratio during fostering.
Regime of drinking by nurses
KREMSOVÁ, Alžběta
In my Bachelor Thesis, I dealt with the questions of observing the drinking regime in nurses. The survey group consisted of nurses employed in wards of the Tábor and Pelhřimov hospitals. Observing the fluid intake is essential for the correct function of all processes in the organism. Drinking regime is one of the factors that influence the quality of nurses{\crq} work. It is therefore indispensable that nurses are sufficiently informed about the proper rules of fluid intake and that they observe them. Sufficient knowledge may also improve the care of the clients{\crq} fluid intake.
