Postural fuction and motor control in children with poor posture
Pelánková, Zuzana ; Zounková, Irena (advisor) ; Syslová, Jana (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on two conditions that typically occure in childhood - poor posture and developmental coordination disorder. The theoretical part summarizes recent information on these diseases focusing on their etiology, prevalence, prognosis, methods of assessment, diagnosis and treatment. The main aim of the practical part was to evaluate the motor control of treated children with poor posture in comparison with children from the general population. The research group (13 children, mean age 9.85 years) and control group (16 children, mean age 9.94 years) were assessed using Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2. We found no significant difference between motor skills of treated children with poor posture and motor skills of children representing the general population. We also analysed whether treated children with poor posture reported less physical activity compared with the general population. By gathering data from questionnaires (completed by parents of tested children), no statistically significant difference was found. The difference was neither detected in test of posture and postural functions, where we investigated how poor posture of treated children can influence the results of the test. Compensation exercises and their use in a skiing club
Kmochová, Klára ; Hronzová, Marie (advisor) ; Engelthalerová, Zdeňka (referee)
The objective of this thesis is to examine the presence of the poor posture or the muscle imbalances at younger school-age children. Children do actively sports in a ski club for a long time; they also have a year training plan. Stationary functions and muscle activity in physiological position were investigated by physiotherapist who indicated some poor posture and muscle imbalances. On the basis of that examination there were recommended some compensatory exercises that can help to adjust or to eliminate detected imbalances. Recommended exercises became a part of the club training program, but the main part was practiced at home. According to the entrance and final examination of the participants we can assess the positive influence of the compensatory exercises to muscle imbalances and the children musculoskeletal system. Considering the results of the thesis we are able to proclaim that the long-term exercises can completely eliminate muscle imbalances. The contribution of this thesis has an irreplaceable importance for the work with children in the ski club.
Determining the most common functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system of primary school children, particularly in the 1st and 2nd grade at elementary schools in Strakonice
KOVÁŘOVÁ, Veronika
In summary of findings we first address problems of correct and poor posture. We present methods how to easily detect function disorders of locomotive system, their basic characteristics, and how to compensate such disorders, or how to prevent them completely. The research focuses on determination of the most common function disorders in children of young school age. Total of 384 children from 1st and 2nd grades of all elementary schools in Strakonice participated in the survey. The following methods were chosen evalutation of posture according to Jaroš and Lomíček, which disclosed that the most common function disorders apply to lower limbs. Testing according to Matthias showed that 33 % of children suffer from poor posture. The research includes a questionaire, which helped us to find out that poor posture occurs less frequently in children who pursue physical activities.

SMOLOVÁ, Michaela
SMOLOVÁ, M. Healthy physical exercise for people with sedentary occupation and its impact on health. České Budějovice 2015. Bachelor Thesis. University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Faculty of Education. Department of Health Education. Supervisor: Mgr. Michaela Pospíšilová, Dis. This bachelor thesis describes influence of health physical education, here compensation exercises, on health of population with sedentary lifestyle. Theoretical part deals with sedentary lifestyle as a characteristic of nowadays and consequence of poor seating and posture. It focus on compensation exercise, its segmentation and influence on health. The empirical part presents the intervention program in the form of motion health physical exercise for people with sedentary lifestyle. The program focuses mainly on momentum weakened system. Verification assumptions and efficient of intervention provides input and output measurements. As testing methods were used posture by Klein, Thomas modified by Mayer, evaluation by Matthias and tests on muscle shortening by Janda.
Influence of compensatory exercises in hockey players focused on pain conditions of back
SKRYJA, Libor
The theory is aimed to familiarize the given issues. This part describes the basic anatomy of the spine, including the biomechanics of walking. Great attention is given to the sensorimotor stimulation and the options of its usage. The practical part was processed by means of qualitative research. The research part includes 5 respondents who play ice hockey and who suffer from back pain. In the practical part the anamnesis was removed and a functional diagnosis was executed. Standing was examined by complexion and a dynamic test in the standing position was carried to verify the possible infringement of the musculoskeletal system. Another two parts were testing of the shortened and weakened muscle groups and the stereotype of activation of specific muscle groups. The probands were educated on the issue by means of pictures and text; others additionally underwent palpation examination including the application of soft techniques and the use of PIR. The therapy included five visits over some time. Some probands were educated on the possible activation of HSS in the future therapies; a practical demonstration including exercises was demonstrated to some of the probands. At the end of each visit (15) a visual analogue scale (VAS) was collected to evaluate the pain perception. Some probands were examined, rehabilitated and assessed in groups, some as individuals. In terms of overall assessment of the possible improvements in removing the issue an output test of functional diagnosis was carried out and VAS was collected after the final fifth visit. The data were obtained by collecting VAS during the individual visits and through these data an overall pain perception in the context of possible removal was evaluated. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to survey and process how back pain can be affected. The collected data shows that all the individuals who underwent group or individual therapy achieved a positive result. Back pain is typical when having poor posture and the increasing tension in the muscle tissue and the formation of so-called trigger points (TrPs) occurs.
Possibilities of physiotherapy for children with faulty posture in middle school age
MAREŠOVÁ, Barbora
This thesis focuses on incorrect body posture of older school-age children and possibilities of physiotherapeutic methods that can be used for this particular age stage. Incorrect body posture is often included among social diseases that are to a great degree caused by lack of exercise and one-sided life style. Generally it is about remaining in static positions and decrease of physically demanding work. The aim of my work is to outline the problem involving children of this particular age range and to evaluate the influence of physiotherapeutic treatment with older school-age patients having incorrect body posture. Theoretical part of the thesis describes correct body postures, muscular chains involved in torso stabilisation, anatomy of deep stabilisation system and incorrect body posture itself. The next chapter deals with older school-age stage from somatic and motor development viewpoint. The last chapter describes physiotherapeutic methods that can be used to treat this health issue. For the empirical part of the paper I chose qualitative research method with two girls of older school-age. Each of them was instructed with a series of set exercises they were to do at home during the whole therapy time approx. 10 weeks. In addition to that, they came in for 9 sessions, during which we focused on their incorrect body posture and other acute problems they had. Short-term and long-term physiotherapeutic plan was proposed based on the anamnesis and kinesiological analysis gained at the beginning and at the end of the therapy. Examples of several exercises aimed at chosen topic are enclosed. This thesis can serve both the professional and the lay public in order to inform them about possibilities of different physiotherapeutic methods that can be used when treating incorrect body posture.
Results of one-sided endurance of a kinetic apparatus in volleyball players and possibilities of a therapy
CHALUPOVÁ, Andrea
The one-sided load of volleyball players leads to occurence of pathokinesiologic changes of the locomotive system. The objective of the bachelor thesis is to ascertain whether volleyball players suffer from locomotive system disorders due to the one-sided overload and whether it is possible to make up a uniform compensatory set of exercises as a therapy. The objective of the theoretical part is to ascertain what functional disorders of the body system occur in connection with the one-sided load of volleyball players, what muscular dysbalances accompany the disorders and what physiotherapeutic procedures can influence them. The objective of the practical part is to use the obtained theoretical findings as the basis for making-up a set of compensatory exercises as a proposed therapy applied within the scope of case reports. The practical part involved a qualitative research using the techniques of interviews and observation, and included two case reports of randomly selected professional volleyball players. Examination of the probands has confirmed the one-sided load of the locomotive system manifested in insufficiency of the deep stabilization system and functional disorders in the area of the shoulder joint. Focused on activation of the deep stabilization system and including shoulder-blade stabilization features, two individual therapeutic plans were made up and undertaken by both the probands in accordance with the charakter of the specific movement activity of volleyball players. The final examination has shown objective improvement of the function of the posture stabilization system of one of the men. Activation of the deep stabilization system with stabilization of the shoulder joint within the specific movement activities of volleyball players appears to be a suitable basis of the compensatory exercises preventing the one-sided load of the locomotive system. The therapy requires an individual approach. For further research in this area I propose measurement of the muscular actvity by means of electromyography and focusing on co-activation of stabilizers of the shoulder joint within the specific movement activity of volleyball players.
