Golden Prague
Litschová, Karolína ; KLIMEŠ, Ivan (advisor) ; MRAVCOVÁ, Marie (referee)
This work deals with patriotic symbols which have been processed in feature films in the occupation period 1939- 1945, with emphasis on the symbol of Prague. Prague was sometimes used only as a scene, but for example in the film Pantáta Bezoušek it has become the theme of the whole film. It should be noted that these films which we perceive rather sentimental now, had a big own role and gave hope at the past time. Against these films I put in contrast the German film The Golden City which shows Prague as a city full of corrupted people and pitfalls.

The Jewish population of the judicial district Sedlec, and their social status until the year 1945 (with a specific heed to the year 1940)
KRUCHŇOVÁ, Lucie
The aim of this propounded thesis has been to elaborate a register of Jewish population in the judicial district Sedlec, and to essay the creation of the reflection of their wealth. The filing cards from the Jews' card files were the primary source, which were enriched by police ordinances and the census from 1930. This thesis is set in the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia; therefore, I devoted a chapter to this period, where besides other things I explain the term "Jew" in accordance with the Nuremberg Laws. There is an overview of regulations that restricted the freedom of the Jews, from which the view on curtailing of the hated minority by the Nazis comes. The important part of this piece of work is the description of how the Jewish religious community worked which gives us an insight into the life of this community. Attention was also dedicated to the social structure, including other factors that affect it; hence, this work contains a chapter which provides an overview of the research in this field. Another part is a list of ninety-four people of the Jewish faith or origin formed by communities and families living in them. It is accompanied by a text part which shows the material and financial resources for individual families. The work is enriched by annexes: tables, graphs, maps, and last but not least, some photographs of some slaughtered Jews by the Nazis appearing in the list.

BOHDÁLEK, David
This bachelor´s thesis focuses on the wartime development of the České Budějovice Koh-i-noor concern during the years 1939-1942. The first part of the thesis takes a compilatory approach, and it describes the economic development of the German Empire and of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia up until the end of 1942 based on available literary sources. The second part of the thesis then deals with the situation inside of the Hardtmut´s concern. Among its basic information sources there are annual reports, operation reports, minutes of pencil company meetings, preserved correspondence, and last but not least, person sources related to the owners and employees of the concern. It is based on these sources that the overall strategy of the concern during the wartime period is analyzed, with a main focus on the transition of exportation markets and on accommodating production to the needs of the war. This development is then analyzed and compared to situations in other České Budějovice pencil companies, namely to the situation in the National Corporation and the situation in the national enterprise named Grafo. In this analysis and comparison lies one of the main contributions of this paper.

Fabianová, Petra ; Rataj, Jan (advisor) ; Houda, Přemysl (referee)
The master thesis called "Antisemitism in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia" is describing, based on historical events, progress of solution of the Jewish question in the occupied Czech lands during the Second world war. In the first chapter the author describes the main events of the Jewish minority life in the protectorate. Jews had lost all their personal rights and discrimination in this regard was almost unbearable. German Nazism developed and at the same time realized "final solution" of the Jewish question. This term signified euphemistic name for the physical extermination of the Jewish nation. The second chapter devotes to the analysis of the press. The most important part of the whole thesis introduces three collaborationist periodicals from protectorate, which were chosen by author. They are called: Zteč (Assault), Árijský boj (Arya fight) and Národní politika (National politics). Construction of the Terezin concentration camp and subsequent life in it describes the last and the third chapter. This ghetto meant an important part of the whole Jewish question and its solution. Although the transports to eastern areas took place here, some Jews arranged better life through cultural activities and illegal educational activities. One of the specifics of Terezín was also the role that the camp played in the Nazi propaganda.
