Social services for family with children in South Moravia region
Fránková, Petra ; Pazlarová, Hana (advisor) ; Kodymová, Pavla (referee)
I focused my work on analysis of social services for family with children in one region in Czech Republic - South Moravia, with emphasis on services for threatened family or depressed family. My work is based on and has foot-hold on social service law. The objective of my work was overall review of present circumstances in providing social services for family with children in the respective region. Intent of my diploma work is giving to readers a basic overview about theoretical resort or let say a fall-back concerning a social services issues with family with children, especially with political and legal resorts and processes of social services deployment planning, and analyze current offerings of social services for family with children in South Moravia region. The essential parts of my analyses are demographic analyses based on official reports issued by Czech statistical office and analyses of Medium-term deployment plan of social services i South Moravia region in view family with children. This is followed by my own survey focused in first part on social services in South Moravia region in view of government employees in social-legal protection, and in second part in view of representatives of non governmental nonprofit organizations established in region. I had used structured interview method for...

Extraction of Semantic Relations from Text
Schmidt, Marek ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
Extraction of semantic relations from English text is the topic of this thesis. It focuses on exploitation of a dependency parser. A method based on syntactic patterns is proposed and evaluated in addition to evaluation of several statistical methods over syntactic features. It applies the methods for extraction of a hypernymy relation and evaluates it on the WordNet thesaurus. A system for extraction of semantic relations from text is designed and implemented based on these methods.

Plains volcanism in Tharsis region on Mars: Ages and Rheology of Eruption Products
Brož, Petr ; Závada, Prokop (advisor) ; Hauber, Ernst (referee)
Plains volcanism in Tharsis region on Mars: Ages and Rheology of Eruption Products Remote sensing data show clusters of low shield volcanoes in Tharsis volcanic province on Mars (Hauber et al., 2009). These low shield volcanoes and associated landforms are comparable with terrestrial plain-style volcanic products (Plescia, 1981) as defined by Greeley (1982) in the Snake River Plain in Idaho, which represents an intermediate style of volcanic activity ranging between flood basalts and the Hawaiian shields. While a number of recent studies addressed some aspects of low shield volcanoes, in particular their morphology, morphometry, and lava rheology, no systematic study including the chronology for the entire region of Tharsis is available so far. The goal of this work is to determine relative and absolute ages of low shield volcanoes and surrounding lava flows and their basic rheological properties. We used crater size-frequency distribution method (CSFD) developed by Hartman and Neukum (2001) and Ivanov (2001) for determination of absolute dating of the surface. For calculation of the rheological properties of the lava, we used methods established by Hiesinger et al. (2007). It is known that the low shield volcanoes on Mars consist of basaltic lavas that had low viscosities during their effusion, which can...

Care for a Client with Alzheimers Dementia
ŠTEFLOVÁ, Zdeňka
The title of this bachelor thesis is Care for a Client with Alzheimers Dementia. Alzheimers dementia is characterised as a progressive neurodegenerative process. This disease is known as the fourth major cause of death, just after ischemic heart disease, tumours and cerebrovascular accidents. Alzheimers dementia affects most often people above 65 and it is a demanding disease from medical, social, economic and psychological point of view. It is called Silent Epidemic. The theoretical part is focused on Alzheimers disease, its causes and symptoms, medical examination methods and treatment. Then this part describes the role of a nurse and the specifics of the treatment in the areas of nutrition, safety, communication, rehabilitation, hygiene, dressing, evacuating and cooperation with the family. In the practical part the quantitative and qualitative research was carried out. The aim of the research was to find out about the knowledge of nursing staff regarding the specifics of the nursing care for a client suffering from Alzheimes dementia in the hospital of Jihlava. To collect data from the nursing staff, an anonymous questionnaire was used. The research was carried out from February to March 2012. The objective of the qualitative research was to find out what the relatives expect from the nurses caring for clients with Alzheimers dementia in the hospital of Jihlava. To achieve the above mentioned objective, the method of questioning was applied together with the technique of an unstandardized interview. 6 nurses were interviewed. The research was carried out during February and March 2012. Based on the questionnaires I found out that the nursing staff is familiar with the issue of the specifics of the care for a client suffering from Alzheimes dementia. The research also revealed that the nurses who work at the Department of shut-ins have a frequent contact with clients with Alzheimes dementia and thus, they have experience in caring for them. The assessed interviews have shown that caregivers let the client hospitalized in case they are overloaded, not able to provide proper care and also in case the clients flat is being adjusted or if a caregiver goes on holiday. If a client is not able to do something or needs help, families expect the nurse to help the client. It is evident the caregivers do not expect the nursing staff to do miracles. They only wish that the clients health state did not get worse during the clients stay in hospital. Persons, who look after the client for a short time, do not have enough information about the disease, its progress and essential care and they expect from the nursing staff too much. The bachelors thesis will become the basis for the lectures within the colloquium in the hospital of Jihlava and also for elaborating of standards in the procedure of care for a client with Alzheimers dementia. I have created the information material which contains ten basis points in each of the areas of care.

Receptor for Nicotinic Acid
Suchánková, Marie ; Fendrich, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Hronek, Miloslav (referee)
Nicotinic acid belongs to the drugs with anti-hyperlipidemia effects. It lowers levels of both cholesterol and triglycerides and increases the level of HDL. The benefit features of this vitamin are accompanied with the side effects of flushing, mainly, that have very negative influence to patient compliance. Independently, T. Soga and A. Wise have discovered the G-protein-coupled receptor GPR109A (HM74A in humans, PUMA-G in mice) as the receptor for nicotinic acid. This elucidation opened the way to elucidate the molecular identification of the mechanism of nicotinic acid-induced flushing. We have done several experiments with PUMA-G double-knockout mice which lacking the PUMA- G receptor. First of all, we have established the method for monitoring the flushing response after the administration of nicotinic acid and acipimox, its derivative with similar effect on the lipid metabolism. From our results, it implied that nicotinic acid and acipimox causes flushing response via the receptor PUMA-G. Thus we could say that PUMA-G receptors are involved in both lipid- lowering mechanism and flushing-mechanism. It has been postulated that NSAIDs can diminish the occurring flush response in the patients. Our experiments with COX-1 -/- clearly showed that COX-1 is one of the crucial enzymes in the nicotinic...

Unsupervised Dependency Parsing
Mareček, David ; Žabokrtský, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Jurčíček, Filip (referee) ; Sogaard, Anders (referee)
Unsupervised dependency parsing is an alternative approach to identifying relations between words in a sentence. It does not require any annotated treebank, it is independent of language theory and universal across languages. However, its main disadvantage is its so far quite low parsing quality. This thesis discusses some previous works and introduces a novel approach to unsupervised parsing. Our dependency model consists of four submodels: (i) edge model, which controls the distribution of governor-dependent pairs, (ii) fertility model, which controls the number of node's dependents, (iii) distance model, which controls the length of the dependency edges, and (iv) reducibility model. The reducibility model is based on a hypothesis that words that can be removed from a sentence without violating its grammaticality are leaves in the dependency tree. Induction of the dependency structures is done using Gibbs sampling method. We introduce a sampling algorithm that keeps the dependency trees projective, which is a very valuable constraint. In our experiments across 30 languages, we discuss the results of various settings of our models. Our method outperforms the previously reported results on a majority of the test languages.
