Women as a literary motif in work of Jakub Deml
Brkičová, Nea ; Wiendl, Jan (advisor) ; Binar, Vladimír (referee)
The work deals with the motif of a woman in the works of Jakub Deml. It starts by presenting some necessary facts and events of his life. In the main part, it tries to identify the basic archetypes of feminity in Deml's works, focusing especially on the Marian Cult, that strongly influences the transformation of living persons into supra-personal and symbolical ones. In the final analysis, the question of whether the motives of archetypal women are really dominating or whether they just mirror the poet's spiritual search and fight is adressed. Key words Eliška Wiesenebergerová, Jakub Deml, Kateřina Sweerts-Sporcková, catholic mysticism, catholic poetry, marian cult in the literature, Marie Rosa Junová, Matylka Demlová, Miriam, motif of a woman in the literature, Pavla Kytlicová, Forgotten Light
Fragments of a Love Story (in Photographs)
Chybová, Barbora ; Činátlová, Blanka (advisor) ; Hrdlička, Josef (referee)
1 Abstract The diploma thesis Fragments of a Love Story (in Photographs) focuses on visuality of a lover's speech; it follows various possible connections between the media of photography and text. In comparison with the disintegrating lover's discourse, as developed by Roland Barthes in A Lover's Discourse: Fragments, and in a dialogue with it, the thesis highlights love story as a traditional way of expressing a love theme. The elaboration of the topic is based on the interpretation of works written by Vasily Rozanov (Opavshie list'ya), Jakub Deml (Listy Jakuba Demla Otokaru Březinovi), Ludvík Vaculík (Český snář), Bohumil Hrabal (Vita nuova) and others. An appendix that includes the discussed photographs accompanies the thesis.

In the days of normalization there was a lot of groups in Czechoslovakia which were spreading the literature, which couldnt be published in the state's publishers. Manuscripts VBF was one of them. This edition was different because it focused on publishing collected works of three authors, who had been already not alive. Thirteen of them were being published since 1978 to 1983, the fourteenth one wasn't finished. Meanwhile the decision came to publish also Jan Zahradníček's writtings and Jan Čep's writtings. Vladimír Binar prepared Bedřich Fučík's writtings after Bedřich Fučík had died. There was a side product called Bibliotheca of Manuscripts VBF, in which some works of the organizators and their friends were published. Reception of Deml´s prose poetry Hrad smrti and Tanec smrti
SVOBODA, Marek
This bachelor thesis focuses on the readers' reception of Jakub Deml's works of poetical prose, specifically Hrad smrti and Tanec smrti from the perspective of Constance school of reception aesthetics. The theory is based mainly on the texts of German literary theorist Wolfgang Iser. The analysis of Deml's work is considered in the context of literary expressionism and is based mainly on Iser's take on empty spaces that enable the reader to connect the different perspectives in the text through the narrator, characters, story and a fictional reader "written in" the text. Unambiguity in the text creates a need to further specify its different aspects and this task is left to the reader.
