Does level of aggressiveness in society influence number of road fatalities in country?
Cvrček, Jakub ; Houdek, Petr (advisor) ; Stejkoza, Josef (referee)
The thesis analyses the relationship between level of aggressiveness in society and number of road fatalities using data from the states of European union from 2004 to 2008. It describes socioeconomic determinants that explain violent behavior in countries and than focuses on individual rate of aggressiveness and rate of aggressiveness in society. Regression analysis is made by fixed effects method after that. The analysis confirms positive relationship between rate of aggressiveness in society (measured by homicide rate and number of housebreaking) and number of road fatalities. Others significant variables were evaluated GDP growth, tax ratio amount, unemployment rate, number of doctors, young people ratio, alcohol consumption, seat belt using and number of passenger-kilometers in country. The mechanism of their effect on road fatalities rate is discussed. Estimated results were used to formulation of recommendation for reduce number of road fatalities.
The econometric analysis of demand function for sugar imports to the CR in 1996-2010
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Dočkal, Dalibor (advisor) ; Řežábek, Pavel (referee)
At the turn of the 19th and 20th century, the Czech countries could boast a flourishing sugar industry. The share of the Czech countries in the European sugar exports reached to 57%. However, over time this important position on the sugar market have disappeared, and demand for imports of this commodity in the Czech Republic started to grow. The goal of this paper is to analyse the demand function for sugar import in the years 1996-2010, try to find factors that it could effect in the chosen period of time and determine their intensity. The method of examination is to set up a simple model and the subsequent implementation of regression and correlation analysis to determine the level of dependence of demand functions on individual factors. The conclusion summarizes the partial results of the analysis and proposes other possible variables that could be incorporated into the model.
Analysis of CSR activities of companies regulary involved in CSR concept in CZ
Oberreiter, Štěpán ; Zamazalová, Marcela (advisor) ; Granju, Monika (referee)
The aim of this paper is to find real reason why companies in the czech market engage in CSR (corporate social responsibility). Theoretical part explains main features of CSR concept, its historical development and current understanding in the world and mainly in the Czech Republic. Analysis is performed on data from TOP Firemní Filantrop and compares development of CSR activities of companies in the czech market. There is used a regression analysis to justify a hypothesis of relation between earnings before taxation and expenditures of companies on CSR activities. In conclusion is summarized opinion of nonprofit organizations to the current situation in CSR and how these organizations perceive involvement of companies engaged in CSR concept.
Analysis of the relationship between number of bidders and procurement price for selected commodities in the Czech Republic
Radová, Lucie ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is an examination of the effect the number of bidders and other parameters have on the cost of public procurements in the Czech Republic. File with data on 502 surplus public works, electricity supply and delivery of personal cars serves as a material for the analysis. Verification of the expected dependence is performed using multidimensional regression analysis with the help of econometric software. Through the ordinary least squares method several models are evaluated. In addition to the linear model, it is also quadratic and logarithmic models as well as a model using dummy variables for the number of bidders. The result was a finding of weak price dependence, primarily on the number of bidders and the openness of the tender.
Is the child pornography a substitute or a complement for child intercourse?
Hradečná, Anna ; Bartoň, Petr (advisor) ; Mirvald, Michal (referee)
This thesis analyzes the change in quantity demanded of sexual intercourse with minors in dependence on the cost of child pornography. Using this method it examines the type of the good, whether it is a substitute or a complement. Usage possibilities are discussed for child pornography as a complement or a substitute for child intercourse. Thereafter, regression analysis using first-differences and fixed-effects methods follows, which confirms inverse relationship between quantity demanded of sexual intercourse with minors and the cost of child pornography finding child pornography being a substitute for the demand for underage intercourse. This regression analysis is conducted based on the data from the years 2001-2008 from the USA and from the Czech Republic by using internet development as an proxy variable to measure the decline in the cost of child pornography. USA's proxy being assigned IP addresses. As an instrument IP address are used in the USA, and number of households with the internet accession Czech Republic. Estimated results served as a basis for formulating suggestions as to how to lower the number of sexual violence victims. The recommendation is reducing repression for holding child pornography.
Economic analysis of labour market disrimination
Brčák, Ondřej ; Brožová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Chytilová, Helena (referee)
The aim of this academic paper is to analyse the possible presence of discrimination against women in the job market. The analysis attempts to endogenous the discrimation section within the model. That is the essential difference in regard to other papers on this topic as these ascribe the influence of discrimination to the unexplained gender wage gap. The basic thought of this model is the idea, that if dicrimination against women is present in the job market, then it must exhibit the signs of a normal good. An examined characterisitc is the correlation of the wage gap, taken as a good, and extra variables as pensions. Investigation of possible correlation is done according to the linear regression analysis. The regression results are not satisfactory over long time periods as there are many variables that affect the outcome that the model does not consider. More precise results were achieved by means of testing individual workplaces, where especially the regression conducted with available data from analytic management occupations suggests that discrimination against women may be present
Are the government subsidies to agriculture actualy in the interest of consumers?
Mahdalíčková, Lenka ; Hudík, Marek (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor's thesis investigates an influence of agricultural grants over the eating habit of Czech consumer. Increasing world-wide trend of overweighted people is very obvious also in Czech republic. This thesis therefore tries to discover, whether there has been a correlation between agricultural production and structure of the consumers diet. Although considerable dependence of agricultural production on grants was proved, it can't be said that the grants themselves are primary cause of the wrong eating habits. At the close of the thesis is proven that a demand after foodstuff is non-elastic, consumer's preferences can be thus affected by grant policy only slightly.

Říhová, Kristýna ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
This bacelor thesis is focused on e-procurement issue. Substantively, the work can be devided into two parts. The first one is related to the effective legislative, which is analyzed from the perspective of both, national and european force documents. In doing so, it describes main features and insufficiencies. It also refers to some other related documents, especially the National plan for Introduction of Electronic Public Procurement. The second part is then devoted to regression analysis of dependency of public contract's price and the method of procurement, meaning wheather there are used or not used electronic tools. The main reason for this analysis is mentioning of negative correlation between those two variables across the related documents.
Analysis of relation between number of participants and final price of public contracts - furniture supplies
Fišer, Daniel ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Blažek, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on influences effecting final price of public contracts in comparision with assumed value. Theoretical part summarizes already existing works on similar topic from different sectors and countries. Subsequent empirical part applies methods of regression analysis on data from sector of furniture supplies in Czech Republic in years 2006 -- 2009. Endogenous variable is ratio of final price and assumed value. Exogenous variables are mainly number of participants, type of contracting method, significance of price as contracting criterion and assumed value. Secondary analysis focuses on influences effecting number of participants. This bachelor thesis is also trying to compare issues of empirical studies with issues published in already existing works and propose steps, which could make Czech public procurement cheaper.
