Studie zřízení hipostezky na Jablunkovsku
Szlaurová, Petra
Horsemanship sport and horse riding for pleasure have become more and more popular. A number of horse owners, who has a horse only as a pet, increasingly rose. They use their horses mainly for trips to nature. As well as other parts of our country, also the micro region of Jablunkov has registered more horse owners. In my opinion, it is necessary to start marking out certain trails only for horse riders since there are a lot of hikers and bikers during summer and funs of cross country skiing in winter. The trails for those riders are necessary mainly because of safety. The main aim of the bachelor study is to find out whether there is a big enough potential of the therapeutic riding and, which is more important, if this idea would be supported by local governments. Next, the study focuses on owners of mountain cottages, owners of restaurants and pensions and tries to addresses them as future runners of stations for therapeutic riding. Furthermore, I try to find out opinions of horse owners riders. I used methods of sociological survey like interviews and questionnaires.

Constructive Engagement or Illegal Investment?
Levely, Ian ; Levrincová, Petra (advisor) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
This thesis examines the role of transnational corporations in preventing human rights abuse and conflict, along with the limits to proactive strategies and engagement with host governments. It concludes by applying these principles in a case study: the oil and gas industry in Burma. The issue is approached both practically and theoretically from economic, legal and political approaches. In some cases it is possible for companies to avoid or mitigate risks by adopting proactive strategies that might included training and community development programs. A firm that recognizes these issues and adopts a socially responsible strategy may justify their presence in a given country based on the overall effect it has, despite some negative consequences, such as financing a corrupt regime. Furthermore, it can be assumed in many cases that a firm that withdraws will quickly be replaced by another firm, which may be less sensitive to these concerns. Based on these grounds, a company might argue that their presence in a country where the government does not respect human rights represents constructive engagement with the host country's regime. While this line of reasoning is certainly valid, and while this strategy is feasible in some cases, there are certain boundaries that firms should not cross. Firstly, any...

Subsidy competition for spillovers from inward foreign direct investment
Havránek, Tomáš ; Benáček, Vladimír (referee) ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor)
The first part conducts a meta-analysis of literature on intra-industry productivity spillovers from foreign direct investment. Apart from the traditional approach, robust meta-regression, random effects model, and probit meta-regression are employed. Results of combined significance analysis are mixed but it is apparent that papers published in leading academic journals tend to report rather insignificant results. Our findings suggest that cross-sectional and industry-level studies are likely to find relatively strong spillover effects, and that the choice of proxy for foreign presence is important. The pattern, however, seems to weaken over time. Contrary to previous studies, evidence for publication bias was not detected. The second part examines the microeconomic motivation of governments to provide tax incentives for foreign direct investment. The author applies the classical models of oligopoly to subsidy competition, endogenousing investment incentives, but leaving tax rates exogenous. According to the conventional wisdom, subsidy competition leads to overprovision of incentives. The results suggests that, in the oligopolistic framework, supranational coordination can either decrease or increase the supply of subsidies. Further, in the setting of subsidy regulation, the host country's corporate...
