Concept of basal stimulation in seniors with utilization of psycho-biographical model of care of Erwin Böhm.
HUBÁČKOVÁ, Lenka
Basal stimulation is a pedagogical and nursing concept supporting development in people with short-term or long-term limitations of perception, communication and movement. Within the concept of basal stimulation, nursing care is structured so as to support preserved abilities of an elderly patient. The aim of basal stimulation is to understand the needs of an elderly patient, adapt to his/her communication style, give him/her space for orientation and development of his/her personality. The model assumes work with biography, which is the cornerstone of psychobiographical care model. The model is a great asset for nursing care, especially its positive effect on the actual elderly patient since the model sees him/her as a person with one's own biography. The aim of the study was to determine how Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model is used within the concept of basal stimulation. Another aim was to find out whether nurses actively work with Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model and how nurses can take medical history according to Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model. Furthermore, the following research questions were posed: How can nurses work with Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model? How do nurses take medical history from patients according to Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model? How is the concept of basal stimulation used in homes for the elderly?Qualitative research using the in-depth interview method was used in order to carry out the research part. All interviews were recorded on a tape recorder and then transcribed verbatim without linguistic adjustments. The research was conducted in homes for the elderly of Saint Zdislava and Saint Anne. Subsequently, transcribed interviews were processed by open coding technique, using the paper and pencil method. Individual categories and subcategories were created based on the generated codes. In total, 8 categories were indentified. Everything is shown in clear diagrams for each category. The research shows that the respondents have very good knowledge of and experience with the concept of basal stimulation. An interesting finding was that the respondents can apply the concept of basal stimulation in nursing care very well and can themselves choose appropriate techniques of basal stimulation. The results were not so surprising for Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model. The respondents have limited information about and experience with this model. The research also shows that the respondents take biographical anamnesis well and can work with it. All respondents agreed that the collection of biographical anamnesis is one of the most important aspects in biography. The research shows that the respondents have general knowledge of basal stimulation and biographical anamnesis. On the other hand, the respondents lack experience with Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model. Given the lack of literature about Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model, the output of this Bachelor's thesis will be a brochure on Erwin Böhm's psychobiographical care model. The brochure should provide nurses with sufficient information about.

Phosphene induction and motor cortex excitability : neuronavigated transcranial magnetic stimulation
Čiháčková, Kateřina ; Horáček, Jiří (advisor)
The topic of his thesis quality of life of patients with hepatitis C , I opted for very interesting perspective on quality of life as such, its evaluation methods , not only in relation to medicine , but also in relation to other social sciences. To estimate the quality of life of patients afflicted with Hepatitis C , I decided , therefore , that the hepatitis C virus is spread across world and affects approximately 180 million people. It is the most common form causes chronic hepatitis presenting with modest and non-specific symptoms that this virus to make a clinical diagnosis difficult. Infection can take decades without the patient realizing her presence. Another aggravating factor is protracted antiviral therapy, which exposes the patient to potential side effects. In addition , 50% of the total effectiveness of the treatment is still under expectations. All of these factors lead me therefore to think how this course disease and its treatment can affect or change the quality of life of affected

Use of orofacial stimulation in occupational therapy
Pleschingerová, Barbora ; Krivošíková, Mária (advisor) ; Rodová, Zuzana (referee)
This bachelor thesis aims to design examination and therapy the occupational therapist in the orofacial area of selected adults with a neurological diagnosis. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the anatomy of the orofacial area and related etiology. It outlines the main problems which in this area may occur. Specifically, salivation and swallowing disorders, muscular disorders and communication problems. It also describes the possibility of examination which the occupational therapist has. Finally, this part deals with methods of intervention. The practical part contains the methodology. It contains my proposal for examination and therapy. Examination, which I proposed, is covering various areas of orofacial complex and consists of five parts. Using this examination, we can define the problem with isolated oral movements, identify changes of organ, assess the degree of salivation, swallowing and speech process. The therapeutic unit is composed of the surface and point massage according to the concept of basal stimulation and of exercises for the lips, cheeks and tongue. Furthermore, the practical part includes three case studies of patients where the examination and therapy was tested. It contains test results and the course...

Application of snoezelen as multisensory stimulation in children with heavy combined handicap
RICHTROVÁ, Lucie
Snoezelen is a therapeutic method based on complex involvement of senses. The target group is particularly formed by individuals with heavy combined handicap, within the whole age spectre from newborns to seniors. Snoezelen is provided in a specifically arranged room offering the individual pleasant environment and stimulating sensual impulses. A therapist has a function of a guide here; the individual him/herself defines how to spend the free time in the snoezelen. The aim of the thesis was to find the possibilities of snoezelen application in children with heavy combined handicap. The particular goal was to develop individual plans for exploitation of snoezelen focused on development of concentration of attention and communication abilities. The theoretical part thus includes specification of general conditions and principles of snoezelen application as a therapeutic method apart from definitions of the basic terms, detailed characteristics of snoezelen and a list of supportive methods. This knowledge was then applied to the theoretical part of the thesis. Case reports were used for verification of the theoretical outputs with regar to the target group characteristic and the individual specifics of therapeutic work. Combination of involved observation and document analysis was used for data collection. Three children with heavy combined handicap were chosen for the research sample. All the probands passed a three-month therapy in specific environment arranged according to snoezelen principles. The room met the conditions for development of attention concentration and communication abilities. However the children did not take use of the opportunity during two month of therapy. Only relaxation effect of snoezelen was seen in all of them, a shift in interaction with the environment, where the child actively influenced the snoezelen elements was found in one case. The results showed that the short time and low frequency of therapeutic sessions were probably the reasons of non fulfilment of the set goals with regard to the disability character and degree. The thesis may serve as informational material for persons or facilities interested in utilization of snoezelen and would like to use a multi-sensory room in practice.

The use of stability training in patients with chronic low back pain
Matějíčková, Helena ; Brožová, Kamila (advisor) ; Chalupská, Tereza (referee)
Chronic low back pain is an increasing phenomenon in highly developed countries. More and more people suffer from back pain and the age limit is decreasing. The search for an efficient preventive method and therapy is therefore crucial. With deeper understanding of human physiology, especially regarding the central nervous system, neurophysiological approaches come into interest. One of them is called sensorymotor stimulation, commonly known as stability training. It addresses the afferent system of human organism and by that influences cerebral centres of motor control, which optimize the function of deep stabilization muscles. The main function of these muscles is segmental stabilization of the spine collumn at rest and during dynamical activities. When these muscles aren't functioning properly, the spine collumn and surrounding structures suffer from overload, which results in back pain. Sensorymotor stimulation represents an efficient way of dealing with chronic back pains. Therefore, in this work I have been addressing the use of stability training in patients with chronic low back pain.
