Processing of architectural elements as haptic aids for the visually impaired
BOUŠKOVÁ, Veronika
Theoretical and practical work is concerned with an architectural detail of the Czech early Middle Ages architecture. The theoretical part introduces the history of Gothic art and describes stone carvings structures developing from the third quarter of the 13th century until its end on Czech territory. The work focuses in more detail on the history of the city České Budějovice and the main attention is paid to the description of the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The main part of a practical work is a creation of three consoles as haptic aids for the visually impaired. Created objects are shaped and polychromed reconstructions of real consoles of the north wall of the mentioned monastery. The work is complemented of other materials, implementation process, sketches and photodocumentation.

The Propagation of Communistic Ideas in Czechoslovak Cultural Periodicals 1945 - 1948
Aplt, Daniel ; Suk, Pavel (referee) ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor)
This diploma thesis, "The propagation of communistic ideas in Czechoslovak cultural periodicals 1945 - 1948", analyzes the way in which cultural-political weekly periodicals entered the public sphere in Czechoslovakia during the years 1945 - 1948, or the period between the end of the Second World War and the installation of the monopoly of political power by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (Komunistická strana Československa - KSČ). Those three postwar years determined the future form of the restored Czechoslovakian state. This paper's research is based on the weekly periodicals Tvorba and Kulturní politika. Both of these magazines were, concerning their political profile, close to the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. The KSČ became the most powerful subject in the Czechoslovak political system during the postwar period. This diploma thesis describes the form of propagation of communism at the ideological level and as a means to support concrete political steps by the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia. This work is above all an analysis of tendentious texts in the cultural-political weekly periodicals Tvorba and Kulturní politika in relation to historical moments that came about during the observed period, in both Czechoslovak politics and the international system. The main task of this diploma...

Symbol and physical theatre
Votočková, Kateřina ; SOPROVÁ, Jana (advisor) ; BENČIK, Juraj (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to survey the connections among basic concepts like symbol, archetype, story in connection with their use in physical theatre. The symbol itself is more visual than verbal and therefore it works as one of the basic elements of the physical theater production. By defining common definitions seen in the wider context associated with the concepts of physical theater – whether it's mimésis, sign, symbol or archetype – the thesis aims towards the essence of the nonverbal dramatic works, namely the plot and the story. I link overall conclusions of researched terms and practical production concept on example of project Uroboros by Barbora Debnárová.

Automatic Creation of Corpora
Šantavý, Marek ; Černocký, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This work is a presentation of tagging and formatting of text-data corpus. It creates a layer above suitable represented documents for their mutual comparison in order to determine the similarity among them. Tools that provide near-duplicate calculations are the basis for an automated system for creation and expansion of the existing text-data corpus. There is an option to choose between two basic approaches according to the significance of the outcome. Means of new text-data acquiring is the tool for web crawling.

Simple Experiments with Naturally Occurring Materials in ChemistryEducation: Support of Empirical Method and Development of Related Competences
Böhmová, Hana ; Martínek, Václav (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (referee)
173 Summary The doctoral thesis is focused on the problem of gaining empirical knowledge in chemistry education, on the acquirement of related competences, and on the activities which would contribute to the improvements in chemistry education in this area. The aims set in the first part of the thesis were fulfilled. I have confirmed the insufficient level of the competences acquirement among the Czech students, such as formulation and verification of a hypothesis, planning and carrying out a simple experiment, interpretation of collected data or drawing conclusions. Main cause of this problem could be insufficient opportunity to develop these competences in school chemistry (or science) education at ground and high school level. Experimental activities of individual students are rare in Czech chemistry lessons. The teachers quote that the main problem responsible for this situation is missing equipment for practical activities in their schools and absence of suitable school experiments reflecting the given safety directives. Considering these findings, I have created a set of simple chemistry experiments utilizing natural products and substances The experiments are suitable for the individual work of students and for chemistry education even at schools without a laboratory or special science classroom....

Archaeological parks and archaeological open-air museum in the Czech republic
Bražina, Jan ; Novák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Tyslová, Irena (referee)
The way of presenting of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage has undergone a dramatic change during the last century. It has shifted from the simple displaying of inanimated artefacts towards an interactive link between the artefact and the visitor. Moreover, cultural heritage exhibitions are no more a matter exclusive for traditional museums. Archaeological open-air museums as well as archeological parks became a very suitable platform for presenting cultural heritage as they combine several approaches: experimental archaelogy, reconstruction and living history. Besides this effective didactics are these institutions significant in supporting the tourist industry as well. The aim of this work is to analyze both the educational and economic potencial of these institutions situated in the Czech republic. Some of the possible management risks are briefly mentioned in the end.

Development of finite element model of human vocal tract and space around the head based on data from computer tomography
Švarc, Martin ; Pellant, Karel (referee) ; Švancara, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis deals with creating a computational model for acoustic wave propagation in vocal tract and the area near the head. The main objective of this work is to map the three-dimensional model of the human head as an additional acoustic environment for more accurate measurement of the human voice on the basis of data from computed tomography, the study of function of the vocal cords, biomechanics of the human voice and an overview of medical imaging techniques suitable for the display of biomechanical models. The grid for finite element method (FEM) will be created from solid geometry of the vocal tract (from the vocal cords to the lips) and the acoustic space near the human head. The grid will be created in order to obtain new knowledge about the different locations of a human head with microphone.

Comparison of contemporary terrorism with terrorism of 1970s and 1980s
Knytlová, Petra ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with terrorism and its development as a social phenomenon since 1970s. It has argued that terrorism has undergone a process of radicalization and globalization, particularly as a result of the changed international situation and proliferation of modern technology. Nationalistic terrorism has been replaced with a global form of terrorism. In a similar vein, revolutionist ideologies, typical for terrorist groups of 1970s and 1980s, has given a way to radical interpretations of religions, namely Islamism, which has received substantial popularity as a result of prevailing grievances of the Muslim world. Even though there is no clear distinction between the old and the new form of terrorism, the two social phenomena differ to an important extent. During the second half of 20th century leftist terrorist groups dominated the scene with their fight for a regime change and battle against capitalism as well as imperialism. The organization of the groups took the form of hierarchy and had only limited number of members. At the beginning of the new millennium, the situation changed dramatically with the proliferation of Islamic groups, including the global terrorist group al-Qaeda. The groups work without a formal power structure and are able to hit targets anywhere in the world, as the...
