Speech fluency and motor system relations as the outcome of physiotherapy in comprehensive stuttering treatment

Tittle: Speech fluency and motor system relations as the outcome of physiotherapy in comprehensive stuttering treatment Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to summarize the accessible literary sources about functional and structural etiology of developmental dysfluency and its effects on motor system. The next aim of this paper is to research current position of physiotherapy in comprehensive stuttering therapy. Methods: The thesis used literature research method, the specific criteria for the selection of literary sources were stated. The first part contains theoretical ground regarding general issues of dysfluency. The second, descriptive and analytical part contains several chapters describing many studies dealing with functional and organ cause of stuttering, features of stutter motor system of stutterers and the current state of physiotherapy in the issue of stuttering. Results: The thesis points out the fundamental meaning of motor system, particularly motor planning in the ethiopathogenesis of stuttering. Certain variations in the structure and function of the CNS of stuttering people have been described. These deviations are specifically manifested on the motor system effectors. The thesis deals with stuttering in adulthood. The first part provides a theoretical basis for using professional literature. It contains theme of communication, communication disorders, stuttering (terminology, incidence, etiology and symptomatology, classification, diagnosis and therapy of selected techniques for adult age), and the International Stuttering Awareness Day. Another theme of the work is the employment of people with stuttering. Thesis also includes advice on how to talk to stutterers and guide phoning for stutterers. The practical part contains its own investigation, processing and results. The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of stuttering by adults. The first part summarises general informations about this communication disorder found in scientific literature. In the main centre of the thesis is the therapy. The second part of the bachelor thesis analyses the history of the respondents' disorder and description of markable signs of balbuties in the transcripts of video-recordings. The thesis is finished by presentation of data from questionnaire survey among speech therapists. The aim of this thesis is to provide a general overwiev of the most widely used therapeutics methods of stuttering by adults in our country.

The topic of the thesis is stuttering, communication disability. The main purpose of the thesis is to gather information connected to the communication ability disturbance. Furthermore to gather the information about etiology, symptoms, occurrence, prevention and therapy. In addition the thesis attempts to analyze didactic material contributing to development of speech and eliminating indications of incipient speech disorder during childhood. The didactic material is based on questionnaires and represents possible practical usage for teachers in nursery schools and for the parents as well. The theoretical part deals with the main concepts such as communication, communication disability and stuttering. The concepts are further elaborated concerning symptoms, occurrence, etiology, types, prevention and therapy. The practical part of the thesis was implemented on the ground of quantitative research. The response rate to questionnaires was fifty responders. All responders were women with teaching experience in nursery schools and kindergartens. The conclusion provides specific methodological exercises based on the research.
