Analysis of drug utilization of antibiotics for systematic administration in the Czech Republic in 2005-2019
Suchopárová, Lenka ; Malý, Josef (advisor) ; Kolář, Jozef (referee)
Analysis of drug utilization of antibiotics for systematic administration in the Czech Republic in 2005-2019 Author: Lenka Suchopárová Tutor: doc. PharmDr. Josef Malý, Ph.D. Consultant: Mgr. Petr Domecký Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles university Introduction and aims: Antibiotics (ATB) are substances with a bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect. Treatment with ATB carries a risk of side effects, drug interactions and risk of resistance occurence. The reason for monitoring the consumption of ATB is not only the apparent coherence between their consumption and the increase of resistance, but also the economic side of bacterial infections treatment. The aim of this study was to analyze the consumption of ATB for systematic administration in the Czech Republic (CR) in 2005-2019. Methods: The analysis of the consumption of ATB was performed as a retrospective analysis of data from the database of the State Institute of Drug Control in the period from 1. 1. 2005 to 31. 12. 2019. Anatomical-therapeutic-chemical classification based on defined daily doses (DDD) of individual drugs was used for the analysis. The consumption of ATB was calculated as DDD per thousand inhabitants per day (TID). The data on the number of residents was acquired from the...

Antiepileptic drug utilization Author: Kateřina Stuchlíková Supervisor: PharmDr. Eva Zimčíková, Ph.D. Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University, Czech Republic Introduction: Antiepileptics (AEDs) are drugs that prevent the development of epileptic seizures. Objective: The objective of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the utilization of AEDs in the Czech Republic in the period from 01. 01. 2004 to 31. 12. 2018 using data from the State Institute for Drug Control (SIDC). Methods: Retrospective analysis of drug utilization data. Data on the utilization of antiepileptic drugs were received from the SIDC database and included all AEDs that were distributed to medical facilities during the reporting period. The relative comparative unit DID was calculated - the number of defined daily doses per 1000 inhabitants per day. The data on the number of residents were obtained from the Czech Statistical Office. Results: Consumption of antiepileptics has increasing trend. During the period it increased from 7.43 DID to 15.87 DID. Especially in the group of new antiepileptics an increase was observed, where 1.15 DID raised to 10.59 DID, while in the classical antiepileptic group this value decreased from 6.28 DID to 5.28 DID. The most frequently used...

SSRI antidepressant consumption in Czech republic Author: Júlia Behrová Supervisor: PharmDr. Pavel Horký, PhD. Consultant: PharmDr. Eva Zimčíková, Ph.D Introduction: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors increase the available amount of neurotransmitter serotonin in synapses, resulting in their antidepressant and anxiolytic effect. Objective: The objective of this diploma thesis was to evaluate the consumption of SSRI antidepressants in the Czech Republic in the period from 01. 01. 2008 - 31. 12. 2018, based on the data on consumption from the State Institute of Drug Control (SIDC). Methods: The research consisted of a retrospective analysis of the SIDC database. The study included all approved SSRI in the Czech Republic. Drug Utilization Review was used in the thesis as a methodology. Drug consumption is calculated as the number of defined daily doses per thousand inhabitants per day (DID). The data on the number of residents was acquired from the Czech Statistical Office. Descriptive statistics and ATC/DDD methodology were applied. Results: The consumption of sertraline and escitalopram increased significantly during the period under review. For sertraline, the DID increased from an initial 8.623 to 15.513, increasing consumption by 1.8 fold. The greatest increase in consumption was observed...

Trends in Medicines Usage in ATC Group L01
Weber, Jakub ; Lešetický, Ondřej (advisor) ; Kostřiba, Jan (referee)
The work analyzes trends in medicines used in specialized medical centers from ATC (Anatomical-Therapeutic-Chemical Classification System) L01 in Czech Republic from perspective of the State Institute of Drug Control (SUKL) and of Czech Health Insurance Companies (Vseobecna zdravotni pojistovna Ceske republiky as the biggest one, and rest joined in Svaz zdravotnich pojišťoven Ceske republiky). SUKL perspective considers medicines delivered to healthcare facilities and the other side providing information regarding payments for L01 medicines between years 2012-2015. Conclusions presented show slightly decreasing trend in terms of number of packages delivered (935 ths. in 2012 and 931 ths. in 2015). On the other hand, value of medicines has increased from 5 067 mil. CZK in 2012 to 6 568 mil. CZK in 2015. The increase in value and decrease in volume in the same time (while prices remain stable or decreasing) indicates trend in increasing size of packaging or entry of new strength (with more active ingredient and therefore more expensive) e.g. entry of Herceptin 600 mg in 2014. This paper further identifies the most expensive medicines in ATC L01 group and starts a discussion about possible reasons of discrepancies between different sources of data which are for the most expensive medicines in hundreds of mil. CZK in value and ths. of packages in terms of volume (e.g. Avastin in 2014: difference 104 mil. CZK and 5 598 packages).
