The development of algorithmic thinking in elementary school pupils using the SCRATCH programming tool
Svoboda, Milan ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Vaňková, Petra (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with problems of algorithmization and programming at elementary schools. It examines the influence of teaching the basics of programming in Scratch on the development of pupils' algorithmic thinking and their ability to develop logical thinking and problem solving. The theoretical part deals with the definition of related concepts and the relation of programming to the key competencies defined by the RVP ZV. The practical part evaluates the experience with the teaching of pupils of the 5th and 6th grades of elementary school within the pedagogical experiment, whose aim was to study the influence of teaching with the use of the visual programming language Scratch on the development of pupils' algorithmic thinking.
Graphical programming of mobile applications in MIT App Inventor environment
KUČEROVÁ, Ema
The work deals with graphic development environment MIT App Inventor 2, based on similar principle like Scratch is. Scratch is designed to teach the basics of programming where the code is assembled using blocks of commands that match each other similar to a puzzle. Both environments are compared, how far is possible to continue in MIT App Inventor with experiences in Scratch. The work includes exploring this environment from point of view of the use of mobile devices, embedded sensors and ways of communicating with the environment, and also analyzes the amount of materials available for learning in MIT App Inventor. The main purpose of this work is set of tasks with tutorials containing sample tasks with a final project to show the possibilities of this environment and some of sensors in the application. Part of the final project is documentation how the application works and how was it created.
Some approaches to the conceptual development of the principles of computer programming in SCRATCH in primary and middle school aged pupils
Šandová, Hana ; Černochová, Miroslava (advisor) ; Novák, Jaroslav (referee)
TITLE: Teaching approaches to pupils' concept development about computer programming in SCRATCH AUTHOR: Bc. Hana Šandová DEPARTMENT: Department of information technology and education SUPERVISOR: Doc. RNDr. Miroslava Černochová, CSc. ABSTRACT: This thesis deals with perceptions of pupils about how computers and computer programs work. The main objective is to inquire of pupils (ISCED-2) about how computer and computer programs work, and what ideas influence them. The theoretical part focuses on the history of the use of computers in teaching and an analysis of current approaches to teaching computer science and programming in the Czech Republic and in selected European countries. The practical part is devoted to mapping concepts of pupils aged 11-14 years involved in a teaching experiment organized at two schools in Prague, the aim of which was to examine the impact of teaching programming in "Scratch" over one semester in relation to pupil's ideas about how a computer works and in terms of the development of pupil's computational thinking. KEYWORDS: pupil's imagination, algorithm, programming, computational thinking, Scratch
Concept-oriented education if programming in Scratch
HOLEČKOVÁ, Kristýna
The focus of this diploma thesis is to create a set of short tasks for teaching programming at primary schools focused on Scratch programming enviroment. Those taks should help students to deeply understand of particular term, functions and syntax of commands. Also this set will contain tasks focused on particular term but with different approach of learning the term. First I chose some of the key concepts of teaching programming for 2nd grade primary school. For each set and task I had to set which term will the task be focused on and how the task will accomplish students key learing preferences which is important for learning students. Those task has been developed based on this learning preferences. Diploma thesis is divided into two parts, practical and theoretical part. Theoretical part contains the theoretical starting points from the field of conceptual design and constructivist approach to teaching and consequently contains description of all task including students developing competenses. This part also contain manual for teachers containing pcinipal, core and correct solution of the tasks all described in detail with highlights of important parts for teacher to carefully focuse on. The second and practical part of the diploma theses contains sets of tasks which have been directly tested in teaching on primary school and have been edited during this testing period of time.
Game for Teaching Very Basic Programming
Rončka, Martin ; Beran, Vítězslav (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
The main goal of this thesis is to create a game for teaching very basic programming. An analysis of current programming education games and education principles takes up the first part of this thesis. This is followed by a design and implementation of visual programming interface in Unity3d and later integration of this interface into a simple game supporting the foundings from the first part of the thesis. This thesis is then being evaluated from the technical and user perspective with the goal to analyze the effectiveness of both the visual programming interface and the game as a tool to introduce programming to non-coders.
Education of basic programming in Scratch environment
KREJSA, Jan
The work deals with programming education on primary schools in Scratch programme. Investigation was carried out by questionnaire on primary school in theoretic part. The investigation shows the facts relating to teaching programming. Scratch is compared with Baltík and Imagine Logo, which are the most commonly used on primary schools. The work also includes an analysis of teaching materials that are available for teaching Scratch. Results of the analysis of teaching materials are shown in a graph. Procedure of teaching was made on the basis of this analysis. The procedure of teaching is divided into twelve subjects. Pupil sheet and guideline for teacher is created for each subject.
Materiology of mouldings for automobile industry
Mandát, Dušan ; Pech, Miroslav ; Hrabovský, Miroslav ; Pochmon, Michal ; Rössler, T.
This article treats of optical methods, that investigate defect of mouldings designed for automobile industry. We use simple optical system and image processing algorithm to measure surface deformation. The sources of defect usually are: scratch, bulge, grey, bristle etc.
Applications for education of programming in OOP
Bauer, Tomáš ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This bachelor thesis is oriented to applications for education of students in object oriented programming in Java and C# languages. There are described mainly used applications in the world, for Java language there are BlueJ, Greenfoot, Alice, JKarel, jGRASP and DrJava, for C# language SGP Baltie 4 C# and some other supporting applications for programming or OOP principles. The goal of this thesis is to determine which applications are used for OOP, analyse them, compare together their suitability for high school and university tuition and recommend their optimal involvement in teaching programming. In the thesis there are also mentioned other applications which can be used beside. This thesis has benefits in created list of applications for teaching, their comparison in scope, learning approach, suitability for programming and recommendations for tuitions on high schools, colleges and universities. At the beginning there is mentioned history of teaching programming languages, described principles of object oriented programming and their's relation with object oriented languages. Next part is oriented to applications' description. At the end there are applications compared together in several criterias, assessed, and there are also recommendations for teaching OOP.
