Braking retarders for heavy commercial vehicles

This thesis deals with the issue of retarders for trucks and buses. It concentrates on the fundamentals of their function and their construction. The thesis is divided into five main chapters. The first chapter describes braking power necessary to slow down the vehicle. The second chapter focuses on the main characteristics of retarders. The third chapter contains a description of their basic types. The fourth chapter compares these separate types. The concluding chapter of this thesis is dedicated to development trends. The thesis has a research character and does not contain new construction proposals.

Centrifugal motor brake for pneumatic compactor

The aim of my thesis is the design of centrifugal brakes to prevent twisting of the combustion engine with pneumatic compactor. In the first part of my thesis I deal with existing and similar systems that prevent over speeding. In the second part I deal with the design of its own centrifugal brake. This includes basic functional, strength, thermal calculation, design of components and fabrication drawings according to the assignment.

Optimization Of Selected Proposed ČSN Elements For Road Design

Subject of the work is comparison between the selected Czech standards elements for the road design and the standards in selected EU Member States. Based on the comparison and in agreement with the supervisor is designed to optimize the control elements of pitch towards sustainable transport safety. The work addresses the longitudinal gradients of motorways, expressways and other roads directionally divided according to standard ČSN 73 6101.

This bachelor's thesis is specialized search dealing with brakes of commercial vehicles. The work is divided into six main parts. The first part deals with genesis of brakes. The second part informs about fundamental terminology and definition of braking. The third part deals with distribution of braking systems by their purpose. Contents of fourth and fifth parts are friction brakes and retarders. The last part is dedicated to development trends of brakes.

The topic of this bachelor thesis covers engine braking systems of trucks and tractors. The thesis describes several vehicle retardation systems as well as their construction and function of individual parts as they function under various operating conditions and in specific situations. I will discuss in detail the systems used by Scania, employing a hydrodynamic retarder; Mercedes-Benz, activating the fifth valve in a cylinder head and Volvo and Mercedes-Benz, operating the exhaust valve in a cylinder head. I will also explain the function of an exhaust manifold flap valve employed by the above manufacturers in combination with their systems.
