Travesti show and sexual orientation from the perspective of addiction psychology.
Fejklová, Martina ; Matoušek, Petr (advisor) ; Kalina, Kamil (referee)
The bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of interrelation among addiction, homosexuality and drag/travesti subculture. Since, according to numerous studies, there exists some connection between an increased risk of addiction creation and the LGBT community, the aim of this thesis is, building upon a case study, to map out one of the segments, to which only little attention is devoted in the scientific literature, both on the gender and on the addiction problematics - i.e. the possible effect of drag/travesti subculture on the addiction creation. Due to the fact that drag performers are gay and at the same time they exhibit significant femininity features, they are exposed to a double social stigmatisation, often even by the gay subculture. This stigmatisation as well as discrimination and struggle with their own identity are the factors which - as suggested by the scientific literature - can contribute to development of an addiction. The case study conducted in the practical part of the thesis focuses on mapping out of the development of drug addiction by one Czech travesti performer. The data obtained served to create a general picture of how the sexual orientation and gender identity but also a specific social environment can contribute to a possible use of various types of addictive...

Health and Social Aspects of the Abuse of Psychoactive Substances by Pregnant Women and Mothers with Children in Therapeutic Community Karlov
VÁCHOVÁ, Petra
This thesis deals with a specific group of pregnant women and mothers abusing addictive substances. It focuses in detail on the effects of drugs on a mother and her fetus during pregnancy. The social aspects of this issue are targeted as well. Another area of my interest are the specifics of treating those women as described in the theoretic section of my thesis together with the basic terms and aspects of the drug abuse topic. The practical section is focused on a qualitative research that aims to map the health and social aspects of abuse of psychoactive substances by a specific group of pregnant women and mothers with children in Therapeutic Community Karlov. The data was collected using the qualitative method, the technique of semi-structured interviews that were audio-recorded and then processed. I expect my thesis to be quite useful as there are only few studies targeting this specific topic. I suppose it could serve as basis for further education of professionals in the field of antidrug services, employees of contact centers, social workers and therapists etc.

PROBLEM INSIGHT OF PEOPLE WITH PSYCHOACTIVE SUBSTANCES ADDICTION
PROKŠOVÁ, Michaela
The dependancy on psycho-active drugs presents a substantial problem these days. The number of users is constantly increasing. In the adolescent groups the social norms in drug use are changing as it is not considered deviant behaviour. There are many prevention programs for potentially endangered groups. Treatments are in development which include substitution programs. In psychotherapy, which is still the dominant treatment, the key role is the question of insight to morbidity of behaviour. The goal of this bachelor´s thesis is to verify whether the people dependent on psycho-active drugs are interpreting their harmful behaviour as an illness or as a lifestyle which they have chosen. The research was implemented in a group of dependent people retrieved from a network of contact centers and in a group of dependent people in therapeutic programs of psychiatric units. I used the questionnaire method. The research technique was by interview. I stated four hypotheses. The first, and second hypothesis were confirmed while the third, and fourth hypotheses were not confirmed. The use of this bachelor´s thesis can be seen in the possibility of its mediation as an information source for secondary and tertiary prevention actions in facilities which are focusing on people dependent on psycho-active drugs.
Health hazards perception of intravenous application of psychoactive drugs in addicted group
PROKŠOVÁ, Michaela
The addiction psychoactive substances currently represents a major problem. The number of users of such substances has been increasing. The intravenous application of psychoactive substances is associated with many health risks. Transmission and spreading of infection is associated mainly with frequent sharing and use of needles, syringes and other instruments among the users. In recent years the spreading of hepatitides (particularly VHC) has been reported as one of serious consequences of addiction to psychoactive substances, particularly in case of intravenous application. Protection against the spreading of diseases consist mainly in the prevention. The objective of the thesis is to verify whether the people addicted to psychoactive substances are aware of risks of transmission and spreading of infectious diseases (particularly VHC) as a result of intravenous application. The research was conducted on a group of drug addicts intercepted in the network of contact center and on a group of drug addicts in a therapeutic program of a psychiatric facility. I have used the method of inquiry in the form of questionnaires. In the thesis I set five hypotheses. The first, the third and the fifth hypotheses have been confirmed. The second and the fourth hypotheses have not been confirmed. The results of the research may be used by facilities providing low-threshold services as a part of secondary and tertiary prevention and harm reduction. It may also serve as source of information for workers dealing with anti-drug issues.
