The support of Czech language teaching through musical activities in grades 1-3

This diploma thesis deals with the use of musical activities that help the development of speech and the support of the teaching of Czech language in Music lessons in grades 1-3. Theoretically, primarily from the point of the mental development psychology, specify important conceptions and terms, related to the teaching. Practically, it represents the inter- subject relations of the Czech language and other subjects, especially Music. The main goal of this work is to offer suggestions (musical activities) that can help in the practice and repetition of the word types. An action research is embodied in the diploma thesis correlating with the research that M. Kmentová used in her dissertation work. This diploma thesis describes and researches songs, vocal games and other musical activities that are based on cross-curricular relations of the Czech language and Music on the basis of the Framework Education Programme for Elementary Education. (RVP ZV). Action research was carried out in the 3rd grade of elementary school (followed by the same pupils in the 4th grade).The diploma thesis is involved in the preparation of experimental methodology for a pilot use in a broad field research. The Pilsen Conservatory with a Focus on the Violin Department

The diploma thesis "The Pilsen Conservatory with a Focus on the Violin Department" first deals with historical contexts that are connected with important violin personalities of the Pilsen Conservatory. The first part presents historical events which are linked to significant violinists of the Conservatory in Pilsen. Its aim is to present complex overview of the teachers who worked at the Conservatory from its beginning and who contributed to the high level of the Violin department with their experienced work. The thesis also focuses on the important graduates who represented or still represent the school with their pedagogical and artistic success at diverse musical events either in the Czech Republic or abroad. The second part brings interesting interviews with the teachers and the graduates of the school. Among them the most interesting are the parts where the teachers explain the methodology, which they use in their lessons. From the point of view of the oral history the teachers' memories of their beginning with the violin, difficulties during the study or their life are also very interesting.
Musical activities for preschool children

The bachelor thesis deals with musical activities for preschool children. The theoretical part describes the relationship between child and music, examines how music education connects with other education, specifically describes and divides individual musical activities. It also discusses the age categories of preschool age and their particular musical content. In the practical part, which is divided into three subtopics, there are described the practical activities that were implemented in the kindergarten. Each of them is enclosed by a reflection on which the description of activities is added. These activities are described in great detail and blend with non-musical activities. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to develop the musicality of children, to try to deepen their positive relationship to music, which could accompany them all their life, and to eliminate their fear of musical activities.

Reflection of the Framework Educational Program for Basic Schools of Art in Czech Elementary Art Education

The Ph.D. thesis Reflection of the Framework Educational Program for Basic Schools of Art in Czech Elementary Art Education deals with current development of pedagogical reform and its implication in lessons of music theory at basic schools of art. It traces its historic development and changes in educational content, methods and organizational forms of education, according to resources that are at disposal. Based on the research, current pedagogical reform helped to define content and scope of work in lessons of music theory. It enabled to adjust its educational content to specific conditions and profile of individual schools, it gave new view of teaching goals and strengthened teacher's position in creation of strategic school documents. Content based, interpretation skills are complemented with understanding of music core; pupils'values and attitudes are built. Among popular teaching methods feature critical thinking, peer learning and group work, learning through demonstration and actions. The most frequently used progressive method, according to the research, is the simulation method. The Development of kindergarten children's feeling of music using selected music activities

The thesis deals with the development of pre-school children's musical feeling using specific and particular music activities. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create a brief and general overview of music activities for pre-school children. It has only a theoretical part explaining what music is and describes its principles. However, there is also a chapter devoted to a musical development of children according to Mr Holas. The major part describes specific musical activities, instruments and songs. Musical and text notations of songs are included. Moreover, there are also described some activities which can be used for working with children in kindergartens. Some of these activities are not so much well-known.

Bachelor thesis "Music in preschooler'slife" shows the possible usage of listening to classical music in the preschoolers' lives and its benefits. The theoretical part defines the terms of musical art, it deals with the functions of music and the psychological impact of music on the child and humans in general. It also introduces both the positive and the negative music effects on the child and also mentions the educational importance of music. The practical part of the thesis introduces a project which focuses on listening to classical music and reflects its usage with preschool children. This work focuses on quality research into the way children in Pilsen kindergarten acquaint with music through the activities and rituals. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part deals with musical development of child, family impact on child's musicality, music influence on child's personality and child's musical abilities and skills. Further, this part explains activities connected with music - singing, musical-motion education, instrumental playing, music therapy and musical-dramatic education. The practical part aims to map the music methods, educational activities and rituals, common and special activities and also quote interviews with both teachers and parents of children who attend this kindergarten.
Folk songs and their role in the musical development of nursery school children

The aim of the thesis is to address the important role and benefit of folk songs in the development of child's musical skills. The theoretical part studies children currently attending nursery schools and their development. Children are often in heterogeneous by age classes but each age category is on a different level of development and has own specific needs. At the same time it is necessary to work in accordance with the education system and follow its curriculum. The thesis offers guidelines that give suggestions and examples of how to fulfil this requirement by working with a selection of folk songs. The majority of exercises address the all-round development of the child's musical skills (activities: exercises with music, instrumental, singing and listening). There are examples of other activities facititating all- round development of the child based on the topic of the song.
