The Kingdom of Acre

The main topic of the thesis is basic problems of the Kingdom of Acre from 1187 to 1291. The first part briefly outlines the situation in Palestine during the First crusade, founding of Kingdom of Jerusalem, the increase of its importance and prestige in the political situation of the Middle East. Chapter ends with a fatal battle of Hattin. The second chapter, which is the main part of the whole work, is dedicated to restoring the kingdom during the Third crusade, internal struggles between the political factions , the resistance of the nobility against the centralized royal power, pursue of keeping the occupied territories and the problems that led to the downfall of the Kingdom by the conquest of the capital city of Acre in 1291. In this chapter I also want to present historical figures which have the historical influence on development of the Holy Land. Bernard, the founding abbot of Clairvaux, is one of the greatest spiritual teachers of the Middle Ages and the most powerful promoter of reform of the Cistercian order. His life's journey began in 1090 in the castle Fontaines, where he grew up with five brothers and a sister. He was the third son of Tescelina and Aleth. It was Bernard's mother, who played important role in his life. Aleth was a very pious woman, whose only wish was that her children have dedicated their lives to God. From an early age she led Bernard to the faith and her influence sparked a deep respect for God's mercy, justice and love in him. It was the piety of his mother, who brought Bernard to the path of faith. When he was eight years old, Bernard began to attend Latin School Châtillon-sur-Seine, which he attended another ten years. Bernard got here an excellent and thorough theological and literary education. At Christmas in 1098 when Bernard was eight years old he had a vision, which greatly influenced his thinking. 7 ABSTRACT Title: THE RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL BACKGROUD OF THE BEGINNING OF THE FIRST CRUSADES FOUDING The objective of this diploma thesis The religious and political Background of the beginning of the First Crusade Fouding is, to present the circumstances and the events, which preceded the beginning of the First Crusade on basis of examining literature. Further the thesis aims to clarify the three significant civilizations (European, Byzantine and Muslim), which participated in the crusade. The thesis itself is divided in several main sections: 1. Holy Land and the pilgrimage (pilgrim) tradition 2.Christians and Muslims fighting before the First Crusade. 3. Turbulent wartime conditions in Western Europe after the collapse of the Carolingian Empire. 4. The struggle for investiture. 5. Convening of the expedition. 6. The main leaders of the First Crusade. 7. Europe, Byzantium and the Muslim world of the XIth century - religion, life, culture and philosophy. 8. The World of Western Europe in the XIth century 9. This work wants to assess a progress of the fiveth crusade in a chronicles of the Middle Ages and an early modern period. This crusade was against a Hussites in 1431. There is a recapitulation of czech historians of the 20th Century in a prologue. The main sources of this work are a chronicles from the 15th Century till the 17th Century. One of chapters is about a names of soldier of booth armies. The main intention of this work is to confirm or to rebut the {\clqq}Battle of Domažlice``.
Jerusalem as the root of problems of contemporar Israeli-Palestinian relations.

Bachelor thesis analyses reasons for the rise of Israel-Palestine dispute over Jerusalem, so called Question of Jerusalem. It provides a historical overview from the ancient biblical tradition to the contemporar state of peace process. The thesis place emphasis on analysis of the period of the second half of 19. century, the rise of arab nationalism, jewish sionism, as well as the formation of the state of Israel. The output of this bachelor thesis are possible variations of the future developtment in the Question of Jerusalem, predicating different state of israeli or arab administration over Jerusalem, supervision of international community, participation of resident population, security or economic developtment in the area. Finally, the thesis outlines the ideal variant of solution of the duspute over Jerusalem and conditions of it's realization.
