The use of Electrotherapy to Influence Spasticity in Patients after Stroke
Pokorná, Anna ; Jeníček, Jakub (advisor) ; Tichá, Monika (referee)
Title: The use of electrotherapy to influence spasticity in patients after stroke Abstract: The theme of bachelor thesis is the use of electrotherapy to influence spasticity in pacients after stroke. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part there is described the issue concerning stroke, regulation of muscles tention and spasticity. Mostly there is stated performed research of accessible literary sources on the theme electrotherapy with antispastic effect. These findings come out mostly of the results of foreign studies, which are being mutually compared. Pratical part contains of two case reports of patients, who suffered a stroke and spasticity m. triceps surae has occured in them. On the concrete muscle the stimulation according to Janstch is being applicated for five days. The impact on spasticity is being observed, the spasticity had been examined by using the scale Five-step clinical assessment according to Gracies before the first therapy and instantly after the fifth therapy. Further the changes of parameters, which are desribed by the stated scale, had been observed. The aim of the thesis is to summarize and enrich the issue at the same time and on the basis of the results of own therapy to evaluate the impact of electrotherapy. Key words: stroke,...
Case study of a patient with fracture of tibia and peroneal paresis after the operation of right tibia
Westin, Kjersti ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Kučerová, Ilona (referee)
1 Abstract Title: Case study of a patient with fracture of tibia and peroneal paresis after the operation of right tibia. Thesis aim and clinical findings: This thesis is about the rehabilitation and treatment of fracture of tibia with peroneal paresis after the operation. The thesis consist of two part, one theory part and one special part. The theory part concerns briefly about the anatomy of lower extremity, kinesiology of lower extremity, peroneal paresis and fracture of tibia. The special part is about a 60 year old male patient with fracture of tibia and peroneal paresis after the operation. It consist of anamnesis, initial kinesiological examination, short term and long term plan, therapy progress and final kinesiological examination. Methods: The patient had one or two therapy session every day during these two weeks I was there. In total the patient had 16 sessions with me. Some of the methods that were used was electrostimulation, Kenny method, PIR, and stretching. Result: The patient showed a very slight improvement of the dorsiflexion of the right foot. in the final kinesiological examination there were a decrease in the swelling around the ankle and knee. The patient also slightly increased on the ROM of the ankle and knee. Conclusion: In the therapy we focused on maintaining and improving the...
Distant effects of muscle electrostimulation
Koláček, Michal ; Slabý, Kryštof (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
This work is trying to identify possible non-stimulatory effects and distant effects of muscle electrostimulation musculus quadriceps femoris based on a literature search. Furthermore evaluates the influence of High Tone Electrical Stimulation (HTEMS) muscles of lower limbs on the activity of the autonomic nervous system, expressed by heart rate variability, a spectral power in the individual frequency bands. Randomized crossover study involved 20 healthy subjects (12 men and 8 women), average age 24.6 ± 5.6 years. Heart rate variability was evaluated before application of HTEMS and immediately after. Measurements were performed with electrostimulator HiToP 191. The results did not show statistically significant increase in spectral power in the individual frequency bands. The study also deals with the reproducibility of measurements of sensitive and motor threshold for electrostimulation HTEMS method, which was confirmed. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Function of physical therapy in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine
Ondruszová, Lucie ; Kálal, Jan (advisor) ; Schreier, Bronislav (referee)
This thesis called "Function of physical therapy in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine" firstly speaks about neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of peripheral nerves. This work also deals with symptomatology of peripheral nerve lesions and muscle dysfunctiones. It deals with indications of rehabilitation therapy including physical therapy by electrostimulation too. The aim of this thesis is to gather and make critical assessment of the piece of knowledge about objectification of physical therapy by electro stimulation. On the basis these piece of knowledge this work denominates crucial issue of objectification of electrostimulation and physical therapy as a whole. The aim of this thesis is to find out what are therapeutical possibilities of selective electrostimulatin in comprehensive rehabilitation within Evidence Based Medicine. Electical stimulation of hand muscles
Hrozáň, Michal ; Balogh, Jaroslav (referee) ; Sekora, Jiří (advisor)
Bachelor thesis explains the effect of electrical stimulation on muscle and nerve fiber. It describes the process of stimulation and principles that apply while stimulation with electric current is applied. Specific muscle stimulation of thumb is described. Work provides a solid base of knowledge for understanding the processes that are present in stimulation of living tissue, which will be implemented in construction of stimulator. User graphical interface was created in Matlab. User can communicate using this program with microcontroller ATMega328 of Arduino Uno Board. Microcontroller processes received data and generates voltage on its output pins. An amplifier and electrode triggering system was designed as well.
Electrostimulation method for cardiomyocyte life extension
Čermáková, Adéla ; Ronzhina, Marina (referee) ; Čmiel, Vratislav (advisor)
This work deals with electrostimulation cardiomyocytes and design stimulation device for their cultivation and stimulation. First part of work deals with electrophysiological myocytes and the next problems with electrostimulation and preserved their original morphology and physiology structure. The following section is designed and constructed stimulation device to improve cell viability. Stimulation took place under different conditions and the success rate depends on the number of cells that survived.
Electrostimulation method for cardiomyocyte life extension
Čermáková, Adéla ; Smital, Lukáš (referee) ; Čmiel, Vratislav (advisor)
This work deals with the electrophysiology of cardiac cells, their electro-stimulation and design of stimulation device to extend their life. The first part is focused on the action potential in general, in muscle cells, followed by an analysis of the process and characteristics of the action potential in cardiomyocytes. The next section provides a procedure for isolating and process of changes that lead to cell death and of a method that the process would be eliminated. Part of this work is a program for processing and evaluation of pictures obtained during electro-stimulation process.
The electrostimulation the spermiation in the crayfish
KUBEC, Jan
The crayfish are important and indispensable animals in aquaculture. In the aquatic environment, they have a role as predators, food for other fish, detrivors and they are an important element in the circulation of the energy and the nutrient in the aquatic ecosystem. Today, number of the european crayfish species populations is decreasing. It is caused by unfavourable regulation of streams, water pollution and the occurence of crayfish plague. The main purpose of present study was examining the impact of electrostimulation on the males of the crayfish and obtaining sex products (the sperm). The principle of this research was determining whether the male of crayfish are able to extrude spermatophore with sperm by an electric stimulus. The transformer was used as resource alternating current in experiments. All experiments conducted in a laboratory of experimental device for fish farming in Vodňany. Experiments were conducted in 2011 on a male of the spiny-cheek crayfish (Orconectes limosus), the signal crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) and the red swamp crayfish (Procambarus clarkii). The results of this work and success of the experiments suggest, that electrostimulation could be used for obtaining sex products (the sperm) from crayfish males. Results from a laboratory of electron microscopy confirm the harmlessness of electrostimulation on the shape and structure of sperm. The sperm can be used to artifical insemination of the crayfish eggs in future. However, sperm capacitation is problematic.
