Assessing the state of a prefabricated bridge construction

This thesis deals with assessing the state of prefabricated bridge construction on the motorway D46 near the village Drysice. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is focused on kinds of prefabricated bridge girders and their defects. Additionally an overview of methods for exploration of these girders. The goals of the practical part are visual inspection, documentation of the state of construction. Execution of laboratory tests of concrete girders in the number of 12 bores. Evaluation of results of laboratory testing and classification of the state of bridge construction.

Diagnostics of reinforced concrete structures

This thesis deals with the structural-technical survey of beam bridge no. 204c - M1, located in Bystřice pod Hostýnem. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to general characteristics of bridges, load capacity of bridges, beam bridges, concrete reinforcement, concrete, diagnosis of reinforced concrete structures, and laboratory evaluation. The practical part deals with carrying out a structural-technical survey on the bridge mentioned above, its evaluation and assessment, recalculation of the load capacity, and design of the necessary rehabilitation to maintain the functionality of the bridge.

Durability of repair materials with higher fire resistance for concrete structures

This dissertation deals with the study of durability and degradation repair mortars for reinforced concrete structures. In its theoretical part, there are the research findings on the behavior of repair mortars exposed to corrosive environments with different exposure time and selected high temperatures. Processes occurring in repair mortars during their loading at high temperatures or when exposed to chemically aggressive environments are described, We can find recipes designed for cementitious binder based with a specific replacement using slag or fly ash in its practical part. The object of the research was to determine the durability of the proposed repair mortars, and determine their suitability for use on concrete structures, which may be exposed to a synergistic effect of chemically aggressive environments with high temperatures simulating fire.

Survey and Diagnostics of Building Construction

The diploma thesis deals with the implementation and preparation of a structural and technical survey of the former football stadium Za Lužánkami in Brno. The theoretical part discusses the specific diagnostic methods used. The practical part describes in detail the individual parts of the survey and its evaluation. The aim of the survey was to determine the current state of the structure. Finally, the results of the survey are evaluated.

Influence of changes in concrerte pore structure on actually durability of reinforced and pre-stressed structures.

This master thesis deals with a durability of concrete, which has become the centre of the interests of international scientific insitutes during the last years. The resistence of reinforced concrete depends on the covercrete which the aggresive liquids and gases penetrate through from the environment to reinforcement. According to the ability of the covercrete to penetrate degradative species is possible to tell the durability of concrete constructions. In experimental part we look for the actual state of covercrete, ordinary and high strength, by combination of various experiments. We can find here the test´s results of water and gas permeability and absorbability and sorption of concrete which complete the permeability tests. In final part the impact of different concrete types on durability of reinforced concrete is discussed.

Diagnostic properties of concrete exposed to high temperatures

This master’s thesis studies the problems of high temperatures on cement concretes, their following diagnostics from pre-treatment to rehabilitation, the emphasis was on the use of high-speed water jet. In the experimental part of the design of a concrete composition with basalt aggregate. Were reviewed the physico-mechanical properties after thermal loading. The influence of pressure water jet on the thermal load on concrete, pull-off test, the volume of the removed concrete with a strength evaluation and comparison.

Study of an alternative binder based on the carbonation of ladle funace slag

This master’s thesis is focused on the investigation of the chemical processes during the carbonation of a ladle furnace slag (LFSU) and on the investigation of the long-term development of the composition and selected properties of carbonated compacts of LFSU. The main mineralogical phases of the LFSU, -dicalcium silicate (-C2S) and -dicalcium silicate (-C2S), were synthetised for the study. The carbonation reactivity of these phases was examined by perfusion calorimetry. A significantly higher reactivity with CO2 for -C2S was observed. The development of compressive strength, changes in weight and length, and changes in phase composition of carbonated compacts of LFSU in four different environments (distilled water, room temperature; 100% relative humidity, room temperature; 60% relative humidity, 25 °C; exterior) during one year after carbonation were studied. A tendency of compressive strength increase in the first six months after carbonation and a decrease in compressive strength after one year from carbonation was observed in all environments. The long-term increase in compressive strength was mainly caused by hydration of -C2S and mayenite. The decrease in compressive strength after one year could have been caused by hydration of MgO to Mg(OH)2. This, however, was not clearly proved.

This bachelors thesis covers preparation and implementation of a construction and technical survey of reinforced concrete structure in Rousínov. The theoretical part is describing examined properties of reinforced concrete and methods of diagnostics used in this field of study. The practical part focuses on the construction and technical survey. The main focus of the survey is the quality of concrete and the assessment of reinforcement in representative parts of the structure. The last part concludes results of the survey.
